UNPROFESSIONAL***** I'm just going to start by saying that this place is a joke. I've had balayage done in the past, and this doesn't even come close. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Before my appointment, I asked Melissa many questions about my hair history and whether she could achieve the color I wanted. She assured me she could, but during the appointment, I noticed she didn't even do a full balayage.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] When I got home and took pictures, I saw she hadn't even taken the time to work on the back of my head. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I politely reached out and asked her to fix it, and she replied that it would cost extra.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Wow! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Before booking, I told her I wanted a full caramel balayage. However, I kept asking questions and mentioned that I might go with a partial balayage to avoid damaging my hair.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Once I got there, I decided on a full balayage but specified I wouldn't spend more than $300, implying that I didn't want any add-ons. She quoted $285-$305 based on my hair, so I asked all the right questions. Yet, all she did was damage my hair. This is the result of a full head balayage: she didn't cover the back or sides of my head, added no dimension, and skipped baby lights. I paid her $300 for poorly done, brassy highlights. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's disappointing that I tried to support a local stylist who doesn't seem to care about making clients feel happy and comfortable.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My previous stylist charged the same amount, and as you can see in one of the screenshots, her work was beautiful. I tried to save time since my regular stylist is an hour away. LADIES, DO NOT TRUST YOUR HAIR TO MELISSA. She is unprofessional, doesn't listen to your needs, and does whatever she wants. Save your money and keep your hair healthy! BTW MY HAIR WAS NOT BLACK BOX DYE, I GOT TONER/ GLOSSES AT HAIR SALON. I had a not so great experience with Melissa. I booked a foilayge appointment with her a week before a work trip. I wanted a refresh since my hair had grown out quite a bit. I booked with her since my usual stylist moved further away and Melissa was more conveniently located. I asked for blonde balayage, however she accidentally put violet toner in my hair turning it purple. I could not attend my work function with purple hair. She then had to bleach wash my hair and re-tone it the same night (Over processing it) of course, the toner had to be darker so it would cover the purple. At this point my hair was a reddish brown tone, no where close to light brown or blonde. I was aware that my hair probably would not lift fully to the lighter colors I wanted because my last balayage had grown out but I did not ask for red or purple. I believe Melissa knew she screwed up because she gave me two free products (a split end treatment and a texture spray) and offered my next tone at no cost. She suggested I return after my trip to tone my hair again. I went back in for a scheduled appointment after my trip and I was told my hair was not light enough to tone to achieve what I would want and that we would have to wait until my hair was a bit lighter. I then decided i wanted to schedule a lightening appointment so that I could achieve the color that I wanted as my hair was pretty brassy at this point. Originally she wanted me to pay for the lightening AND toner but after I reminded her of the toning mess up, she agreed to discount me $50 (the cost of the toning) However, the morning of my appointment Melissa cancelled due to not feeling well. People get sick, I understand. We rescheduled for the following week. Again, she cancelled the night prior due to having wrist pain. I explained that I was attending a wedding the following week and that I was in a bit of a time crunch so I needed to be seen asap. She rescheduled for the following Tuesday, the day before my trip. I couldn't risk her canceling again so I went back to my other stylist, a bit further away. She had to do a color correction because there was still red in my hair from Melissa's mistake. This ended up costing me double what I had intended to spend. A pricy lesson was learned, when you have a good stylist no matter the distance, it's worth the trip in the end. Dear fellow Yelpers, Let me take you back (about a month) where I had a hair appointment that I had booked right after a friend in another salon. I came into the salon an hour early to check on her progress and keep her company. Only to find that the stylist was challenged by her color request,  giving a brunette a blondish ombre. While chatting with my girlfriend about the dilemma, I watched as her stylist had to reference the senior stylist on her every move. By the end my friends appointment, 4.5 hours later which was also 1.5 hours  into my appointment, she STILL HAD her dark Asian hair. Let me tell u our experience with Melissa as a groupon customer. I had the biggest mistake of buying a groupon coupon haircut as a gift from this business. When i called for appointment and told her i have a groupon(big mistake telling beforehand), Melissa told me there is no avaliable dates until next week. It sounds weird to me so i asked my wife to call as a different customer and never mention groupon. There it is, all days are avaliable for an appointment :) She got an appointment and when i drive her to Melissa's shop we were shocked because the place was empty. One of the neighbour shops owner told us she moved. Then we called her again and what she told my wife is " ahh didn't i give you my new address?" Yeah her address on all websites and also in yelp changed and she did not tell us. So she gave another appointment for 3 days later Friday at 11:30. And what u think happened??? We got a text from Melissa at 9:30 am 2 hours prior telling my wifes appointment is cancelled and she wont be accepting customers from groupon anymore so we should ask for a refund. She obviously has no work ethic . By the way she told us several times she dont accept cards and we must pay cash or with a personal check. I wonder if she give a receipt after cash payments. Because if not this is something irs will not be happy. Finally i would like to thank Mellisa for this horrible behaviour so we could easily got our money back and we realised how overpriced Melissa's rates are after checking other hair dressers. read more
