I needed my hair cut really bad. The medications I take have affected my hair's texture and also caused a lot of thinning and it had been a while since the last cut. I was not feeling pretty as well as just old and frumpy. I decided to go. A little self care is good for the soul. My hair dresser (I forgot her name, but it seems she has been there a while) did a fine job with my hair. She listened to what I wanted and gave me the cut pretty much the way I described to her and showed a picture of myself with that cut. Part of the problem and challenge was that was before I started the medications. Now, I wanted the same look, but dealing with what my hair would cooperate into are two different issues. Kandy is awesome! Late post... Kandy styled my hair a couple weeks ago and she is great! A wealth of knowledge, from color to cut. Didn't really know what I wanted, but I knew that I wanted my current cut (men's, longer than shoulder length, undercut) gone. At first, I wanted a short military style cut... something drastic, but instead I decided to trust Kandy. SHE DID NOT DISAPPOINT! She styled the cut to roughly about 3-4 inches on top, textured, and cleaned up the undercut because my previous length on the sides did not allow for blending just yet. Because the cut was done so well, I felt brave and confident enough to try something new... A hard part. This really gave me the option to use product and achieve the military feel if the situation suited. Just got back from vacation and received great feedback. Family, friends, and colleagues at work also noticed before my trip. Wife loves it! I don't often stay with the same hairstyle or color and I really like to have a versatile style with options, always thought this was asking a lot... I recently decided to look at a location closer to my house after the stylist I've been using for the last 5 yrs moved out of the area. Let me just start with the disclaimer that I know GC isn't on the same level as a barber shop and to go into it with realistic expectations. Let me tell ya, this shop went above and beyond to lower the bar. Checked in online and there was no wait, which seemed awesome at the time, but probably should have been a warning sign. Asked for a 1/2 inch off the top and low fade on the side. What I got was a rushed, poor fade with anywhere between an uneven 1-1 1/2 inches off the top. What was super disappointing is that this lady clearly knew what an inch was, considering that's exactly how uneven she left my sideburns. The employees were unpleasant and complaining about the shop the whole time. The lady who cut my hair was semi-quietly singing (badly) right next to my face, so that was fun. Price was fair, but if I wanted someone to jack up my hair for $21, I'd have just given my money to a small child with scissors and probably gotten a better result. I was looking for a place to cut my dead ends. I only needed a quick trim and started looking for a place close by. I saw this place was 5 minutes away and decided to drive there. I also saw the Check-In special for 1st time users, which was $11.99. Once I arrived, a lady at the front ask me if I had an online appointment. I said I had checked in on Yelp and wanted a trim. She acted confused and asked what was the Yelp special, even though they had Yelp all over the studio. Another lady came by and asked what the Yelp special said and I said, it says $11.99 for 1st time users for checking in. She acted confused as well and said they didn't have that Special. Like really? It's here. I showed the Yelp cupon and they denied my request. I also restated I only needed a quick 5 minute trim, nothing fancy, nothing special. They mentioned they only took competitor coupons but not this Yelp coupon, and if I wanted a discount they could only give me a few dollars off from their reguar pricing. Long story short. I left. They acted like they were doing ME a favor. I came in for a quick trim, something super fast. I don't mind paying, but when they use false advertisements to get customers in and then deny the usage of those coupons that is not ethical. my friend went in for a haircut around 10 and my friend had asked one of the hairdressers to cut face framing pieces around her face.. instead of cutting face framing pieces she had cut curtain bangs... that were straight not even at a angle. She didn't even blend them in to her hair so now half of her hair looks completely shorter than the rest of her hair. She came home and balled for 3-4 hours. I understand that not all hairstylist are able to do certain haircuts but that is what should have been listed and told to my friend before proceeding to get her hair cut. The absolute worst hair experience I've ever had. My hair turned out absolutely NOTHING like the pictures I showed her multiple times. I went in for a hair cut and a wash. Hair cut is 16 and wash is 4. I said I wanted to see my hair so she starts blow drying it. Like any normal place would do. I hate my hair. Even after she attempted to "fix" my hair I still hate it so much. I expected my bill to be 16+4 so around 20 plus tax (and normally a tip. But she did nothing to deserve a tip!!) They tell me it's $56!!!!!!!! Like what in the world!?!?!? They told me that the blow drying was $36 Are you serious!? No one told me this. I should have refused to pay it. The woman with the darker hair was just over the whole thing. As a new customer, she was almost annoyed when I walked in and asked if I could make an appointment. I came back later to get my haircut. I had previously had my hair cut by the woman with light hair and she was great. Even though she was tired from a busy day, she was friendly, showed interest in her customer and was pleasant. This time around, the woman with dark hair was short, annoyed and almost condescending when I showed her a picture for a reference. Again, being a new customer and still not very knowledgeable about which size looks which way, I hoped she could look at the reference and give me her opinion given her line of work. She instead retorted that she didn't know what size that would be. Neither did I. Honestly thought she would, at the very least, offer a suggestion. She then proceeded to point towards the picture's caption and tell me, "See,it doesn't say." I then simply guessed a number since she was clearly not interested in putting any energy beyond the bare minimum. I always try to tip when I get a haircut. But given the bare minimum effort she put into her service, I opted to forgo a tip. Her reaction was to laugh to herself as if something was confirmed. It felt she made certain assumptions when a new younger client walked in to get a haircut and comported herself according to her preconceived idea of the customer. She was far more gracious to the older gentleman and the married couple before me. I will not be returning and advice others that don't know the precise measurements of their cut, to avoid this woman. If possible, ask for the other woman. She seemed much more agreeable and genuine. Also, completely unrelated, they ask you for an alarming amount of personal information. In addition to name and phone number they ask for complete address WITH apartment number. I understand the company may want to send reminders when its time for another haircut, but I was given the option to opt out of all the info. She just asked and even when I left out my apt number she pressed on. I felt almost uncomfortable with the rigidity of the questionare. read more

Unlike Fantastic Sam's or Supercuts, there is no wait here! Though the place looked busy (Sunday afternoon), I literally filled out their check in form, and was immediately escorted to the stylist's booth/chair. Ashley asked what I came in for (cleaning up the shag look... just needed to get an inch cut off to get rid of split ends), and conversation flowed naturally. My fiance got his hair cut right next to me, and seemed to be having a decent time too. All in all, we were out in 15 minutes. We really didn't realize how short it would take to get our hair cut. So why 3/5? Call me spoiled, but I'm used to paying $15.00-$16.00/cut for the shampoo, head massage, actual hair cut, and product recommendations. For the price, all I got was some water spritzed enough to wet my hair, the cut, and (after asking) was shown how to tease my hair to give it a bit more of the subtle look of volume. I appreciated that and the genuine sincerity in making me feel welcome and ultimately, I was happy with my hair cut, but I just didn't get that "Ohmigawd, I feel BEAUTIFUL" sensation I usually get when stepping out of the shop. This place probably deserves a four, but since I paid for my hair cut *and* my fiance's, I actually wasn't satisfied with the look of his hair (I don't know what he asked for, but he looked like a Chinese kid with a bowl hair cut). I didn't care to ask the attendant's name nor do I want to put anyone on blast on Yelp, but I just felt the need to rush him home and get some pomade/gel to his hair looking proper again. The place is clean and well kept, but I just wasn't digging the $32.00 bill not including tips... Ashley is great though, so if you do go here, ask for her. I'll try a couple other places elsewhere, but if I can't find anything, I'd go back here, especially if there's deals & promos (they have those, right?). read more
