This place is a York County treasure that is 90 years old! Finally got in here for a quick lunch. Met Mike and his son John Michael. You just can't get this kind of experience anywhere. It gives the feel of stepping back in time to the 1800's and an old country store. I got a cheeseburger plain, Carolina dog and fries. Their hot dog is the best I have had in York County. Their hot dog burger was char grilled and the fries are crinkle cut with ample seasoning. Everything was very good. Cannot wait to get back for their grits!! Highly recommend. read more

My wife and I "discovered" this little gem just before the pandemic. They rolled with every obstacle they were given enough about that. The deli offerings are straight up country and I love it. It is the only place I could find rag bologna and I as well as my father in law were very happy. Their sandwiches and breakfast and lunch specials are way too good to be true! Oh, and let me tell you about the staff. One time my wife stopped there to grab some of their special whole hog sausage, and the owner was are you getting some bologna for your husband and dad? We had breakfast. One 12oz hamburger steak with onions, 2 eggs, home fries, two pancakes, cold hard French fries, and took home less than a pint of salty chicken salad. On a good note it's an old gas station and lots of nostalgia. Price was $47 which I thought was a little pricey for what you got. read more

My Dad loves to take a drive down to Passmore and stock up on souse meat, rice pudding, sausage and other country staples. Passmore also has a kitchen area where they cook up breakfast and other yummy dishes. This is the type of place with generations of regulars that feel like family. Be careful because they do keep some odd hours and will not be open when you expect them to be. We've made the drive several times and they have been closed. I love this country store, great food and great customer service, just like it should be.

I have been to many restaurants/diners/cafes around the world and believe me when I say that I have never in my life felt so welcome in an establishment. The owner, wife & son just hung out and chatted friendly/interesting conversation whilst explaining the restaurants history and talking us through the menu. It's one of them places that make you feel like you've stepped into a time machine of sorts. Full of curiosities and relics and some good old country cooking. Perhaps one of the best examples of old fashioned service and excellent customer experience. Upon walking in the owner walked me to the counter and listed off all of their items (someone that definitely knows their product) and helped me even find a seat and asked me where I was from. I ordered a couple of chili dogs and while it may have taken a bit longer than I would have thought they were nonetheless very tasty. This is a fantastic spot for simple good food at reasonable prices. I will definitely be back when I am in the Rock Hill area. Great owner too. read more

First of all , thanks to Yelp we found this place after Skydiving. The outside definitely doesn't scream restaurant. However please go in . Such a great building that has been family run for generations. Super nice people and delicious food. The owner told me how share croppers use to run a tab for items until the crop came in . Our group had Hamburger, Bacon Cheese Burgers , grilled cheese, tots and fries ! Everything was cooked to order and delicious. They also had milkshakes but we were too full from lunch to partake. After reading the reviews on Yelp we figured this would be our lunch for today, and we were not disappointed. I ordered two hotdogs with chili, mustard and onions and my mate ordered tuna fish salad sandwich with tots. The hotdogs were on level to those in my youth from Sowell's country store in McConnells-excellent, the tots were perfect, and I was told the tuna fish was good also. Oh wow. I hang my head in shame for not knowing about this place sooner. Stopped by today due to reviews on Yelp and realized I've driven past it for years as it's near my old college. We got the cheeseburger special. Cheeseburger with chili is standard so if you don't care for chili tell them. I loved the chili! Pour your own sweet tea. Definitely an old fashioned place. This is one of those places that, if you stumble across it, you are truly lost. This is the old road between Rock Hill and Chester, and today, everyone would take the Interstate. We went for breakfast, and it was quite good. Highly recommend the breakfast sausage, which is spicy and has an excellent flavor. Coffee was delicious. Only markdown was the hashbrowns, which were a bit greasy. The procedure here is a bit unusual. Order at the back counter, grab your coffee from the pot, have a seat at a table and wait for your food. Once done, proceed to the front counter and tell them what you had, so they can cash you out. For simple breakfast or lunch, this looks like the place to go around Rock Hill. read more
