Probably our favorite meal in Rome! Pasta Chef is phenomenal and the owner (who is out running around and organizing everything) is a great personality and very fun guy. This is not your typical restaurant since you order at the counter and then go sit down, but it is still very, very good. Prices also feel very fair. We got the carbonara and alfredo and both were amazing (though slight preference for the carbonara). Secret to this place is to come early since seating is a bit limited and it's no secret it's so good! Great food and owner is very fun which contributes to some fun vibes. Also in a very nice part of town.

A very small location but definitely one of the best pasta we had in Rome! The carbonara was definitely the best I ever had! It's creamy and not clunky like most cheese based carbonara. The pork is also crispy porcheta! Definitely come early or come at lunch. I came for takeout and didn't leave until after standing in line for 1 hr and finally getting my food 30 mins later. But it was definitely worth it for some of the best pasta I have ever had in my life!

We did stand in line for 40 minutes... it turned out for good reason. We had just come from seeing the Coliseum and walking for nearly five hours. We ordered the pesto, the pomodoro, soup of the day, which was fish, the ragu lasagne, and even more. All delicious, amazing, spectacular. I say trust Chef Leopoldo Frigerio!! Have a I mentioned how nice the people are there? So nice. Great service. Great atmosphere. And have I MENTIONED the Tiramisu. No? Wowza. See the photos. And enjoy if you are in Rome.

Price is incredible for what you get, it's delicious. There will probably be a line, we waited for 40 minutes in the heat but it was definitely worth it.

Also known as al42 Pasta Chef. There was a line when I visited for lunch, but they're "fast food", so it wasn't much long of a wait. Their menu was simple, but I felt it wasn't exactly the authentic type of pasta that I was looking for. Regardless, the food was delicious and affordable. They also have wine here! The owner guy spoke fluent English and went around greeting everyone! It was nice. Credit card accepted.

You will return for so many reasons. The food is heavenly, get the alfredo! I tried everything I could and the food kept on getting better and better. The host is charming and one of the reasons you will return. He makes you feel welcomed and takes good care of you. The helper behind the counter is kind and knowledgeable. Multiple languages are spoken. The atmosphere feels like a deli, nothing pretentious or forced. You can see the little details that make it a genuine local staple. I highly recommend it for the price, quality and service. It's technically a food lab. Their experiment, serving the best.

I've been going here since they first opened in 2015, when the Monti region wasn't popular as it is now. They've always been great, but they've evolved and grown over the years. They still have that street food feeling, but as they've grown in popularity, they've figured out how to serve their very diverse clientele, from locals, to tourists, to frequent visitors. There is something for everyone. My order with my group: -Amatriciana -Carbonara -Caesar salad They're very generous with the guanciale and the portions. The staff is warm and efficient. The pasta comes out fresh. Sometimes they are able to accommodate mixing the pasta with the sauce, but more often than not, it comes as is as they have to be efficient in their small kitchen. They are absolutely the best street food pasta in town.

Wait, this is a chain with multiple locations? Noticed in multiple places... Or I passed it during different times of day and couldn't tell First pasta in Italy -- home cooked pasta is better. Review based on carbonara and the second menu item. People said to try out carbonara but the taste is too strong that I couldn't finish it! Should have seen the black pepper warning. I don't know if this is a case of adding too much spice or whatever you know the more you have the more distinctive/unique taste you have but you sacrifice food quality. Also there isn't much meat on the food. The second option had better tasting sauce, which was distinct and tasted fine, but didn't sell it. Pasta is chewy.

Amazing pasta that's fast and relatively cheap! The portion size is generous too. Their regular size was plenty enough but they do offer a large size if you're feeling super hungry. The carbonara was delicious. It was cheesy and rich with the perfect saltiness and bacon pieces. Oh I could eat that all the time! My husband got the pasta ragu bolognese and it was good and hearty. They have a spice tray of level 1-17 and there a chart to tell you what pepper is closest to that level. I believe a 5 is like a jalapeño. I didn't have the tiramisu but everyone else seemed to order and enjoy it. Friendly staff. Quick service.

Pasta Chef was AMAZING. We sat at all the fancy restaurants on the streets overlooking the sights and they were all great and delicious but this was different. It was down in an alley in a little hole in the wall. My husband found it on yelp and it had great reviews so we checked it out. We were only in Rome for 3 days and we ate there twice!! GET THE CARBONARA. I still dream about it months later. I'm gluten free and they have GF pasta. I had to make sure it was GF because it did not taste like it. DELICIOUS. Best meal we had there. I believe the owner was there helping us as well and he was such a kind man. He helped us look at our map and find places we should go. He was smiling the whole time and always checking in on us.. you could tell he was proud of that place. He even said they may start shipping world wide.. I can't wait for that day! read more

I absolutely love the concept of this place! It's like chipotle for pasta, except you have to wait for the food to be ready. It's a carry out model with seating in the place if you want to eat in, but don't expect someone to be waiting on you (get food yourself, order drinks during food order, throw food away yourself, find your own seat). I got the fettuccine bolognese while the husband got lasagna with meat. I've noticed that true Italian food isn't as sweet as we're used to in America, but it was still very good! The fettuccine noodles were thicker than the ones we've had previously too. Great model and great food! read more

Stopped here for lunch based on the reviews and glad I did. It was full when we got here but by the time our order was ready, we had a place to sit. Hole in the wall with seating for about 19 people. I went with the lasagna. I'll be back again during our trip. read more

We got lunch here after hunger struck in the Foro Romano. So glad we did. I ordered the carbonara (regular portion) and a Peroni beer. The man taking orders (I think it was the owner) was very nice and engaged with other customers, answering questions about the dishes and making small talk, while we waited. The carbonara was AMAZING. The sauce was thick, smooth, and peppery, the guanciale was salty and delicious. The noodles were cooked perfectly. The portion was generous. We ordered tiramisu for dessert. It could have used another layer of ladyfingers (it only had 1), but it was tasty. Be aware the restaurant doesn't have a bathroom and there is a €10 minimum for credit cards. read more

We had a lot of amazing food on our recent trip... but Pasta Chef was one of the most memorable. It was a recommendation from someone at our hotel. It was busy, which was a good sign, and the staff was so nice! We enjoyed a beer while we waited for the food which was packaged so nicely to go and didn't take too long. They do have some seating inside, but we opted to take ours to go. We had the pesto and carbonara... would definitely recommend both. YUM! They also had lots of spices, different heat levels on the side as well. I just wish that they opened a little sooner so we could have went again before we made the trip to the airport. read more

Great food and multicultural friendly. Very welcoming and nice menus of homemade pasta. Wish we knew Italian to chat with the owners more. They come around to check on the quality of the food when they have a minute. Even our kid who doesn't eat ate here. read more

Delicious food in a friendly environment. The guys behind the counter were so nice (and very patient in explaining what different pastas were to the customer in front of me). I loved the vegetarian lasagna and fettuccini alfredo. The caprese salad was delicious. My husband and daughter were impressed with the tiramisu. I didn't like the ravioli as much--but that might have just been me. All in all, we had a delicious dinner, which we took back to our apartment to enjoy in leisure. All for about €30. read more

Big portions and good food for a very low price. Fettuccine Alfredo is very good. There's not much seating inside and everything is served on disposable plates (though made from recycled materials and composted). A good casual lunch spot. read more

Awesome almost-literal hole-in-the-wall. Our food was made with freshly in-house made noodles. It was definitely delectable. Only downside is that it's strictly a to-go spot, but the people that work there and the noodles were great! read more

I had heard from a few people that this place was amazing even though it had a fast food kinda feel to it, so I gave it a shot. I don't know if it was just that night or those prawns in my pasta, but it was terrible. I felt really sick after that night and then the whole next day. I got the king prawn pasta, it looked good but smelled gross. I was disappointed even before tasting it. I did give two stars still because the service was good and the people were friendly. Maybe if I had tried something else it wouldn't have been so bad. Also it had a very fishy seafood flavour even though it was red sauce. I do like seafood, but not this time. read more

we were super tired and decided to eat here instead of making it out to a nicer restaurant, and I would say you can do better. It is essentially the chipotle of pasta, if this were in LA I wouldn't ever think to go, so why come here when you are in one of the best pasta cities in the world? tough it out and go someplace that's gonna give you the real deal. read more

This was one of our favorites on our recent Europe trip. Affordable, delicious, from scratch food with daily specials. We went twice during our 3 days in Rome. The owners were very helpful with the menu and believe in using totally compostable or recyclable products for serving the food. The sauces were delicious and well developed. I highly recommend going on Thursday for gnocchi day. They had a braised oxtail gnocchi that was amazing. read more

Best pasta I have ever had! I ordered a pasta soup which is not on the menu, I just saw other local people ordered it, so the try out turns out to be the best. It is like Chinese wonton soup but very Italian pasta soup! Love it! read more

Awesome! Ate here three times in our weeklong trip to Rome. Vegetarian and vegan friendly and you can easily swap up options of pasta/sauces depending on your dietary requirements. Prices and portions are also very reasonable. Would also point out that it isn't really a restaurant, but a take out place that has some seating available if you'd like to stay. read more

I've only been back a day from Rome and I'm already missing this place. The carbonara was the best I've had anywhere period. Tiramisu was made traditionally with lady fingers and not the bag like you see from some of the tourist traps. The owner was extremely nice and made sure we enjoyed everything served to us and we had pleasant conversation. This is a must stop if you are in the area. read more

My friend has the ravioli, I had the papardelle, and my mom got the Cesar salad all of which were amazing. You can really taste how fresh the pasta is and the serving size is perfect. They have a variety of chili powders ranging in spice which I thought was a very cool feature. read more

What an amazing little pasta place! We stumbled in there for our first meal and it definitely set the bar high. During our 3.5 days in Rome we had to stop in twice. From the first bite there is no doubt that this is true, fresh homemade pasta. I would highly recommend their ravioli (with butter sage sauce). My biggest regret is not having enough time to take their pasta making class... but we will be back. Thank you pasta chef! read more

The wine that was recommended by the employees was delicious and the lasagna that three of my family members had was good, but the risotto special that I had was less than okay. The risotto grains were not cooked through and the flavor was lacking. read more

As someone who visits McDonald's frequently, this particular location is one of my favorites. We…read morerandomly stumbled into here for a quick bite without realizing it is the viral fancy McDonald's. First you walk through a hallway of Roman statues and plaques, which take you into a spacious dining hall. They have a full bakery section and plenty of seating. I got to try a few Italy speciality items like the Spinach & Parmigiano Croquettes (3 for €2.69) and Tiramisu (€2.90). When in Europe, you can always order a beer at McDonald's too, which is a treat for adults. The best of all, I was able to score the viral beach towel from here while it's been sold out everywhere else!

So yes I went to Macdonalds.... Both of the pizzas were pretty good. Their crusts are a little thicker though and pretty filling. I got a pizza that had some very spicy meat on top which was my favorite. The other pizza we got was just okay. Besides their just made pizzas, they also had pastas and other items you can order. The guys behind the counter were nice. We asked for a new pizza fresh out the oven but they told us we had to get the one sitting there to finish it off. There is a casual dining area but it was all full when we tried to sit. Overall it was a mediocre experience.
