This is a tiny little place with counter seating. If you want to get in and relax over a meal this is not the place to do it. The pasta comes on a cheap plate and expect to get yelled at if you put your recycling in the wrong place or the fork or well...anything. The pasta came out quickly and was unremarkable. My daughters ravioli had little sauce, so I asked the guy behind the counter if I could order some red sauce on the side and he looked at me like he couldn't understand what I was saying. I then asked if I could pay for some Pomodoro sauce and the guy crossed his arms and wagged his head back and forth in an extremely exagerrated manner. Absolutely loved this place. Great service, great food, extremely reasonable prices. Went here for an early lunch right as they opened, but they made sure to have everything ready by that time (even the lasagna). There were also plenty of vegetarian options on the menu! I got the pesto pasta, and the boyfriend got the carbonara and the lasagna ragu. The pesto pasta was heaven: lots of basil and yummy al dente pasta. Boyfriend was in love with the carbonara and couldn't believe the size of the lasagna slice. Wine was nice as well and €3 for the half-sized bottle! The cashier made sure to ask about if we were okay with the carbonara being classically salty (which my boyfriend was) and gave a nice wine recommendation. The gentleman behind the counter (the owner?) was extremely friendly/helpful as well, taking the time to recommend a lightly chilled bottle of the wine we were buying for the hot weather outside. While rome-ing around Rome (LOL I had to) pasta was a dish I ate everyday, sometimes even two times a day! Pasta is indeed the real deal here as handmade is the standard and there was no restaurant that I could name that did otherwise. And so when I heard that you could get away with getting fresh pasta at a price point under 10EU, I was on a mission to see if I could find THE spot that fit the criteria. Lucky enough, Pasta Chef checked all the boxes. They blew me away with their pesto pasta (8EU). Ignorant me forget to get the exact name of the pasta (it was like a rolled up pasta) since once I took my first bite I devoured it on the spot. The noodles had that chew, the sign of a pasta cooked al dente and correctly while the pesto was light and full of flavor. It wasn't too cheesy not basil-y... Just.. simply perfect. Was there a pasta that could fit the bill any better? I certainly didn't think so. AAnd so did my dad as after we killed the plate he went up to the counter to order another dish, this time a lasagna ragu. Though it wasn't as good as the pesto this declaration was more determined by my personal preference as in the ranking of things, pesto is always higher above lasagna in my book. Still, it was the best lasagna I've had in a while as it wasn't overly cheesy, was generous with the meat sauce, and the pasta, well, was perfectly cooked. Like they mention, one pasta is the perfect portion for one person and so bring a few people to make some switcharoos and try their different pastas. Though there is no place to sit, there are plenty of standing tables for you to eat at. And you won't be needing to sit anyway, since you'll be eating up that plate in a jiffy - it's that good! read more

I ordered a cacio e pepe and the butter was just so thick and enriched the fettuccine noodles. Also the added peppers made the dish so good. One of the best pasta places we ate at throughout our entire time in Italy! And they added chicken to the alfredo for me which made me super happy! It's a pick up and go kind of place although you can eat there if you want at one of the tables. Everything is biodegradable and they recycle everything so that's neat. This is a different kind of place. First off, if you're looking for a cheap meal, come here! Pasta and salads. Pretty simple and straight forward but also really good. They do not do table service as their license won't allow it. But when two people can eat for under 15 euros right by the colosseum, that's a pretty good meal. As a bonus, everything is focused on being earth friendly. I would definitely recommend as we came here twice in three days. read more

Delicious quick meal! We both ordered the pesto pasta to go and ate it by a local fountain. They projected that the wait time would be around twenty minutes, and the restaurant was nearly full -- but it ended up being only about five minutes. THE best pasta I had in Italy. And that's saying a lot since I ate pasta every day for every meal during my two weeks in The Boot. After a long day of hanging out at the Coliseum, my cousin and I were HUNGRY. We stumbled upon Pasta Chef on a small street that was close to the Coliseum, but far enough away from all the tourists and tourist-y prices. I got the porcini pasta and it was amazing and cheap! The noodles were fresh and so were the mushrooms! It was a party in my tummy and I fell in love with pasta all over again here. The guy at the register was insanely nice and patient and was transparent that eating inside the restaurant will cost a bit extra. Grab your meal and head over to one of the nearby water fountains. We arrived in Rome and decided to try this place out since it was down the street. I had the fettuccini Alfredo! It was absolutely amazing. I recommend trying it. So creamy. My sister had the raviolis and of course I had to try it too. Worth a try too. My mom has the lasagna and it was okay. It's affordable and worth giving a try if you want something fast and quick. We tried the Cesar salad on a different day as a quick snack and they were not great. Try sticking to the pasta as that was delicious and I wished I picked that the second time. read more

We absolutely LOVED our food from Pasta Chef. It was very reasonably priced, served on compostable / disposable plates and consumed at a tiny little bar along the wall. You are not getting ambience or service, but you are getting great food at a great price. We preferred the Amatriciana and the Alfredo pastas over the vegetable lasagna. The lasagna was very noodle heavy and dense, but the flavor on the Amatriciana and the Alfredo sauces were great. The pastas are made fresh in-house, and the guy at the register is delightful to speak with. He gives lots of information (in English!) and recommendations about the menu and doesn't mind taking the time to talk about everything. If we could've, we would've returned here every day for a meal while in Rome. read more

If you know Soup Nazi from Seinfeld :-), this place is a little bit like that. Strict rules and instructions. But just like that soup, their food is amazing. We went for dinner two consecutive nights. Tried most of their pasta menu and everything was superb. And his place is about good food. No table service, cramped space, uncomfortable seating, limited timings.....but was worth it for me. Highly recommended for great pasta. On Thursdsy's they have freshly made gnocchi, I can't get enough of this type of pasta- we tried it with ragu- amazing and also in the 4 cheese sauce both are fantastic. We also came and got fettuccine Bolognese which is on the menu everyday and it's amazing too. If you are on a budget and want amazing food this is a great stop-you can also get wine and beer in here. We went early as we saw the reviews and there was already a crowd outside the door 30 min prior to opening! The food.... we both said we would fly back to Rome as a sole reason just to come eat here again. All the ingredients are just so fresh... you can really tell by the taste. After visiting the Roman Coliseum we decided to try out this place, wasn't too far of a walk and we had seen the yelp reviews. My family and I were not disappointed with the quality of the food. Get your quick, cheap but high quality "street food" pasta here! Food: on a rainy day, we stumbled on this cute "street gourmet" pasta shop- so glad we did! -lasagna ragú: get this- the meat sauce is absolutely amazing, not salty and packed full of meat. Went back again a second time for this -prawn pasta: generous with prawns (one whole one easy peel for presentation and a few large chunks within pasta). Fun al dente tonarelli noodles (a little thicker than your average spaghetti and square shaped). Again a great tomato based sauce that was not too salty. Forewarning the sauce is very "prawny" for lack of a better word so if you don't a heavy seafood taste, skip this) -Fusilli pesto : fun textured pasta, pesto super fresh and deliciously herby (would bet they probably made it on the spot in the kitchen) - they also sell half liters of wine and small, single-serve to-go wine cups that have lids. Service: kind, professional, fast Space: super cute, clean. Plenty of seating for how small a shop it is. All high top seating. It has a slight Americanized menu with items like Fettuccine Alfredo and Caesar salad which are not authentic Italian dishes. I need a bit of home so it works for me. This place is amazing! It has a pretty hipster vibe and its food tastes extremely fresh. I recommend the ravioli! I thought that tasted extremely rich and fresh. They top the ravioli off with sage I think and I think it adds a good amount for freshness to the dish. The fettuccine bolognese tasted very good but just a tad saltier than I'd expect. The coffee was very good as well. We got a salad dish as well which tasted like the standard salad. Overall, great food with a good price! read more
