Pastele,

This has to be one of the best pasteles I have ever had. We had to call the owner since they weren't where google takes you, but instead were down the street. The owner let us know where he was, we put in our order and then he brought it to our car. The flavor hits you right away in a good way. Loved the taste Of the rice and pasteles. Definitely need to try it again before I leave Maui.

Decided to go to the Sunday Night Market after work. They had a long line to order but surprisingly the food was ready in less than five minutes. The lumpia combo late was great. Lumpia was delicious and the gandule rice was good. Pastele was delicious. I really enjoyed it and will definitely come again.

Yummmmmty as usual! They never disappoint me with their flavor. Quality is always top priority for them. They know what they're doing and everything taste great from the Pandeja, Pastele, Lumpia, Ganduri Rice. I could do without the tomato onion and the little cupcake but it does complete the plate. Their cupcake is always super moist too. -- My favorite is the Pandeja Combo. They totally mastered their Pandeja, it's cooked perfectly and that crust! Omg like buttery flaky goodness. So good! They haven't had a 2 for $5 special in a while on those so hope they bring that back! Seriously, so ono! They offer mild or spicy pastele. I say go spicy! It's not even spicy but the flavor is a little bit extra lol. They do offer some other local kine grinds like Hawaiian plate, Lau Lau or Kalua Pig. Haven't tried those but I'm sure they're ono too. The aunty who takes orders is always super nice! They take cash or card. They also pump out your order pretty quick. So if the line is long, no worries, stand in line cause it goes through quick and your food comes out just as fast!

Pastele House never disappoints. My favorite is the Super Combo. You get a little bit of everything- pastele, gandule rice, 2- pastele lumpia, panadeja, tomato salad, and a cupcake. My #1 of all items is the pastele lumpia. The flavors are perfect and delicious. Go get some kau kau. Your tummy will be happy.

I don't know if it was a total dream, but i felt like i had the BEST acai bowl in godly existence - the multi-base option was NUTS, each base (my favorite being the mango one, but also the pitaya one hits home for me) was textured so well and the flavoring was awesome! The fruits are fresh as hell, and i was surprised i was paying less than many places for a TON of food! wow i would fly to Maui again just for this

Had the pleasure of trying this place out on sunday night at the sunday market at old kahului shopping center. It was delicious. Gaundle rice, pastele was pretty good. I enjoyed the rum cupcake it was delicious although I couldn't taste the rum hehe The girl taking the order was really friendly I really like that. Great customer service. They kept up with the busy crowd. Will be back to try other dishes. Pastele house you guys rock got my cravings satisfied..

Nicest lady and such good food! The açaí bowl had tons of toppings. Will definitely be back.

I recently developed an allergy to pork (amongst other things). Yes, pork guys....which means no more kalua pig...no more carnitas...no more lechon...no more chili verde...I could go on and on. This also meant no more pasteles. Rough life huh?! Well, my lovely friends at Pastele House have solved my problem! They make vegetarian pasteles, and they're delicious! So if you're a vegetarian or just trying to cut your meat intake, please message them! They're filled with tofu, garbanzo beans and olives and you can order them by the dozen (regular or spicy) . They still do all their normal Puerto Rican goodies and well as Hawaiian food too. Maybe one day they'll make vegetarian panadejas too! I should ask them about that lol. Yum!!

Panadejas

I have finally succeeded in getting my hands on the panadeja from the little green house! Albeit, I only got one & it was the spicy variety since well... that's all they had left. I'll take it! They're usually open on the weekdays when I'm at work, so I had to send my husband on a special mission to get me some lunch from their trailer. Bless his heart. Tip: follow their Instagram account to find out IF they're open and WHERE to find them. Sometimes they're at the Harbor. Other times they're at the Shell Gas Station. So about that panadeja (Puerto Rican version of an empanada).... the crust was perfectly cooked to a flaky golden brown. The inside -- filled with meat, olives, & possibly some other ingredients -- was absolutely delicious. Oh my gosh. I don't normally like spicy food, but this had just the right amount of spice to add that extra layer of flavor. Yum! I can't stop thinking about it. I also got a mild pastele plate which comes with gandule rice, a cupcake, & tomatoes since it's their namesake and I've never had pastele before. I was already full, but took a few bites and what I did have was also good. The cupcake was yummy and the gandule rice had a generous amount of meat mixed in. They do offer a few other things on their limited menu and I really want to try the mild panadeja (hopefully more than one, lol) & the pastele lumpia next! I'm not all too familiar with Puerto Rican cuisine, but Pastele House is definitely a great introduction to their eats.

This was our last stop before heading back to the airport to go back to Fl .. and both my husband n I throughly enjoyed it. What a perfect way to end our anniversary trip. The Pastele was very scrumptious and comforting at the same time. We also really enjoy the açaí bowl on the go after that meal. So refreshing and very good flavor. But the best thing about this food truck is the hospitality that we received from the owner. What a pleasant experience

Tianne R.

This is truly a FAMILY run business and it's one of the best and kindest families on the island of Maui. They are located at the Wailuku food trucks lot at 1960 Main Street in front of Maluhia Collective and next to Dolish and Like Poke. They also do a lot of events so you can find them all around maui town. You can often see their kids helping and working (taking orders etc). The food is excellent but I am also here to talk about acai bowls. It's a weird thing for them to have on the menu since it doesn't match with the theme of the truck but oh my gosh, it's a MUST. I've told at least a hundred people about it because I am an acai bowl connoisseur. This is one of my favorites on the island. They don't add apple juice to thin out the base. It's a solid thick base that doesn't melt immediately after you order it. It comes with however many toppings you want to add at no extra charge and it's a huge serving. I add my own bee pollen (from home) lol. But you HAVE TO TRY IT. 10/10. I eat it at least once a week. The texture is perfect.

Nothing short of phenomenal! Puerto Rican and Hawaiian food at it's best. Been enjoying their food for years. So blessed to have them on Maui. Give them a try if you haven't. So ono.

After staying on Oahu and driving past lots of roadside pastele spots on the way to the airport, I got a craving for my favorite Puerto Rican comfort food. But when I landed on Maui, I could not find ANY pastele spots and especially none that were open. So I had to ask google and up pops Pastele House. I did a drive by and couldn't find it. I even texted them to ask if they were hiding, but unfortunately they were not parked on a Monday (granted it was Labor day). They said they'd be there the next few days so I said alright, I'll come back. Thursday rolls around and I finally find them parked on the side of the road. That bright green truck calling my name! I ordered the pastele plate (1 pastele, some arroz con gandules, some side salsa and what I'm guessing was dessert-a yellow cupcake). This hit the spot! The pastele was HOT and had good chunks of pork in it. Maybe it's a Hawaiian thing but they used black olives instead of the spanish olives. All good, I like all olives. The arroz was pretty good too. Had a good amount of stickiness to it. My only regret was not getting 2 or 3 more pasteles. I would definitely go back here when I'm on Maui to get mas pasteles!

Their hours were limited in the month of September when we originally got the Elite Perk because they welcomed another bundle of joy to their 'ohana I went today on my lunch break and as usual they did not disappoint. Their gandule rice is so 'ono I want to order a whole tray next week for Thanksgiving lol. I chose their spicy pastele because I've had it before and it is just right. Puerto Rican is one nationality I actually don't have lol but I've had some 'ono Puerto Rican food growing up here in Hawaii. Their Puerto Rican food is mouthwatering and so flavorsome you will not be disappointed. I haven't tried everything on their menu but I am a huge fan of their pastele lumpia too. To finish our meal, my daughter and I shared the coconut and mango slushies, which are made with natural ingredients and were incredibly refreshing. As someone who is Hispanic and pretty picky when it comes to authentic Latin food, I can honestly say this exceeded my expectations. The food is authentic, fresh, and full of flavor. I tried teh Kau Kau Tin with pork belly and garlic noodles, the Spicy Chicken Sandwich, and a small mac salad. Generally, the Kau Kau Tin and the mac salad were utterly bland. The mac salad tasted of nothing. The garlic noodles in the Kau Kau tin also lacked flavor. The garlic noodle had the slightest of garlic taste. The pork belly was perfectly cooked and was the best part of the Kau Kau tin and I made sure to make each every piece of that. The Spicy Chicken sandwich was the most disappointing item I tried. The chicken patty was just a VERY FATTY piece of fried chicken. It was terrible. The texture shock alone from biting through crispy crust to gelatinous fat was shocking. But then, the chicken was not seasoned. It was a textural monstrosity that had no flavor. All in all, I'm glad I tried it. I will definitely try it again when back on the island in hopes that this was just a bad day.
