I wanted to like this place but the whole experience was pretty sketchy. I ordered food at a different truck for myself but my little one wanted a hotdog so I went to Da Nani Pirates truck to order food for him and a can of coke for the wife. In usual fashion I ordered on the electronic kiosk... one hot dog and one can of coke. A few minutes later I was called to the window and was told they don't have cans of coke and they're out of hot dogs. Unfortunately that's what I was told to order from the people I was ordering for. When I asked for a refund the guy at the window said "we don't give refunds". So i responded "but I purchased a hot dog and a coke and you don't have them available. Why doesn't the menu say SOLD OUT or something? My wife and son wanted those specific items. It seems reasonable to refund my purchase, no?" So the worker responded "well can you ask your son if he wants something else? I'll exchange at no cost. And your wife can pick a different drink". Funny, because the grilled cheese, corn dog, and hot dog are all $7.95 haha so of course it would be at no additional cost. So I left the window and asked what my son wanted instead of a hot dog. Naturally he only wanted the hot dog, so I forced him to choose between a grilled cheese and a corn dog (I'm sure every parent has been in this situation and feels my pain). After a few minutes of arguing he decided on a grilled cheese. And feeling bad for me, my wife didn't care what drink she got, thank the lord! So I went back to the window and told him I'll take the corn dog. The man in the window then told me "hey, I found a hot dog. It was buried in the back of the cooler".... I'm not sure how confident I feel about him "finding a hot dog somewhere" when before he was beyond confident he didn't have any. And there's no way I'm walking back to the table with a hot dog after I forced my son to get a grilled cheese. Disclaimer than the seared Ahi fish tacos were good here. So to summarize, a terrible experience. And I definitely woipsnt stte go through that again There are a ton of food trucks who had way better customer service. I support small businesses and for sure want food trucks in Maui to do well. Ordered a pulled pork lunch plate and a shoyu chicken plate while in Maui at Da Nani. Ordered two other lunches with other food truck vendors at the same time. The two other lunches were ready in about five minutes. Something was off at Da Nani. Went to check on my lunch order about ten minutes after I ordered and was told the chicken was not ready. Was told wait 5 min. Finally got my order after a 15 min wait Brought it home and the chicken was cooked plain not marinated in shoyu. And tasted sour. Pulled pork no complaints. But this was an overall an uncomfortable experience. Threw away the shoyu chicken. If he did not have shoyu chicken he should have told me. read more

This is in a cute food truck area with good music and it wasn't too busy on a weekday evening. There were plenty of tables to sit at. The staff who helped me was friendly and it only took about 10 minutes to get my order. Food- Jumbo coconut shrimp plate ($15.95)- It came with 5 shrimps, mac salad, and rice. The mac salad was refreshing and the consistency wasn't thick. I really enjoyed this since it was more on the lighter side. The shrimp was crisp, but I do wish the rice was a little more fluffy/sticky. The lime it came with was a nice balance to the sweet chili sauce on the shrimp! I saw the hurricane fries on the menu and I couldn't resist trying them. Yummy. But in the end, we could have split a three taco plate between the two of us and would have been very satisfied. There was so much on these tacos. The pork was piled so high that my wife barely made a dent in them. And I've never seen such big pieces of fish on a taco before. We barely touched the fries. It's well priced and a good alternative to some of the pricey spots in the shopping center. They also seem to cook or prepare to order since we waited a little while. Unfortunately, we had to take our food elsewhere because the picnic tables were filthy and sticky and looked like they had never been cleaned. The food itself was fine, but we felt the fish tacos only tasted like sauce. The wrap was very very sweet and we didn't finish any of the food. When I asked about it, he became aggressive, started screaming at customers, and threw a tantrum. It was hard to understand anything he was saying. The fish tacos at $18.99 were not as good, just battered fried fish over a thin spread cole slaw with sweet sauce and cilanto on top. It might be missing some extras that you now have to pay extra for. Tipping 15% for a food truck non-existent service didn't help the quality. I got the garlic shrimp lunch plate and it was incredible. The shrimp were huge and the creamy cilantro sauce on top was amazing. I'm still thinking about it and wish I could buy a bottle to take home. They use huge chunks of garlic in this dish so I'm a big fan. They give a generous portion of rice and my only complaint is that it were a bit fluffier.The accompanying Mac salad was tasty and the coleslaw they made with this plate was very tasty too. It's a citrus mango vinaigrette type dressing that I've never had before and was so unique. They're located in a food truck park so there's plenty of seating and options for everyone in your group. I've had my share of burgers on Maui, but I'll tell you that you would have a tough time finding one that's better than a Da Nani Pirates burger. The Da Nani Pirates food truck is located in the Kihei Station food truck park. Just behind the Azeka Mauka Shopping Center. I've meant to work my way through their Burgers of Legend, but I'm stuck on the Queen Anne's Revenge. In case you aren't a history buff, Queen Anne's Revenge was the flagship of Blackbeard the pirate. Definitely not like Montezuma's Revenge, lol. Anyway, the menu says the Queen Anne's Revenge burger has 1/2 pound of Maui beef and 1/2 pound of Maui pork. I didn't have scales handy, but I have my doubts about the half pound portions. Regardless, the combination was awesome and delicious. The cheddar and sauce took it to another level. It's big enough to share and I will be back to continue ordering these legendary burgers. Curly fries are included and they're excellent, too. Oh, and staff is super friendly and helpful. I'm glad they were awarded back overtime pay that they were denied and tips that they were forced to share with management. Maybe that's why they're so pleasant. read more

Came to redeem our stamp card for a free meal (buy 10 get one free). Got my fav, fish n chips, while the hubby choose to try the Shoyu chicken. The fish servings was WAY smaller than usual. It was more like fish sticks. I even asked the guy at the window if it was right and he said "yeah it depends on the way they other person cuts them". Well, that being said, they were way over cooked and dry. I ended up just eating the fries. Hubby's chicken was good, said he would order again. The chicken portion was a bit small for him but we are used to lot larger portions. The canned soda was room temperature... so we didn't even open it. Highly disappointed in our meal tonight. I stopped by here this past Sunday night with my wife for dinner. We had seen this grouping of food trucks a couple of days prior and so decided to check it out. As we usually do at a place like this, my wife and I decided to split food from a number of different places. One of those places happened to be Da Nani Pirates. Since this is a food truck, there's not too much to say about it other than there were at least 2 people working in it and they were both wearing masks. Since we were also ordering food from other places, the only thing that we ended up getting here was some crispy calamari. It consisted of 4 pieces of freshly fried calamari and a dipping sauce. They were hot whenever we ate them and tasted pretty good. The breading was crispy as promised and had a nice flavor to it and the calamari was cooked nicely too. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. As a matter of a fact I am planning on it as they have a fish n chips with a passionfruit tartar sauce which sounds excellent. read more

This place looks promising but quickly found out the service was not as expected. The cashier seemed a bit rude which was a big turn off and also coming to Hawaii for the first time, everyone telling you all people here are super nice, to having a great interaction at airport, to then find this kind of service at our first stop for our first meal in Hawaii. Service wise not a good experience, logistics wise they ran out of a lot of staff and didn't mention until we found out when we got our order, lastly the flavor was not all there. I placed an order online at 7:11pm. It was to be ready at 7:30pm. I arrived a little before 7:30, and they were closed up. Doors closed, windows closed, lights off, nobody home. We asked around and the other food trucks said they left early that day. I called repeatedly and nobody answered. I texted the number at 7:42pm asking about my order, and nobody answered. We left without our food but was still charged. Someone finally wrote me back the next day saying they were there and open until 8pm. Obviously a lie. Called them on it, and they said they would refund the order. It never happened. So I filed a dispute with my credit card company, but Da Nani told them they gave me my food and are refusing to refund. Now I have to submit proof of the phone calls and text messages, proving they're liars, and just went home early and stole my money. read more

Friendly service, reasonable prices and great fish and chips! My husband said it was some of the best he's ever had. We took the food back to our hotel and the fish was still insanely crispy. It was very light, tender, and flavorful and both the sauces we got for it were good. We liked the seaweed or whatever was added to the batter. Delightful! After reading my Yelp buddies - Maria P. & Vince N. reviews (as they are one my reliable Maui sources), I decided to head over to this little food truck called -"Da Nani Pirates" located in a gravel parking lot in the upper section of the Azeka Shopping Center mall. Yes gang, great grindages served out of a food truck...........can you believe it???? Da Nani Pirates offers an array of items - tacos, salads, sandwiches, wings, wraps, & some appetizer items. The whole key about coming here is ordering the right item, as some items are probably done better than other items. The day I came here I had my heart set on some Fish Tacos! As I walked up to the ordering counter, I was greeted by a friendly girl (who was the owner of this wonderful business), and I asked her what kind of fish were they using for their fish tacos that day? She in turned replied that they were using Ono (Wahoo) that day. Sounded good to me, so I proceeded to order the Original Fish Taco plate, which was a grilled Ono fish taco (you get 3 fish tacos). Now if you're not into fish, they do offer other types of tacos.........some of the other tacos that they offered were- 1. Garlic Shrimp tacos 2. Seared Ahi tacos 3. Pulled Pork tacos 4. Vegetarian Tofu tacos 5. Beer Battered Fish tacos So you can see that they offered a little bit of everything to hopefully meet one's palate. As for me...................I was here to the Fish Tacos & I was so happy I got it! The Fish Tacos came is a soft tortilla shell, the fish was grilled to perfection, and the tacos were topped with some kind coleslaw vegetable mixture that had a slight sweetness to it. After I topped off my Fish Tacos with some hot sauce, I had the perfect balance to heat, sweetness, and the firm texture of the Ono fish! YUMMO!!!! After downing my 3 fish tacos, I was pretty satisfied.............not too stuffed, just right, perfect so I could get on with the rest of my day at work without feeling bogged down or sleepy. I know you folks maybe wondering if you buy food from a truck, would there be a place to eat your food? CERTAINLY my friends!
