Popped in to grab some pastries for a gathering. Decided to get a box of 6 pastries. by the time I arrived, some of the cake slices had dwindled in quantity, but there were still a few left of most flavors or options, so I asked the staff to surprise me. He grabbed German chocolate, mango, carrot cake, what might have been pineapple, and another one with a hint of cardamom. All were so moist and delicious! I loved all flavors. What sets these apart from other cakes or cakes by other businesses is they are spongy and light, sweet but not too sweet, perfect. They were, for me, comparable to cakes you'd find at Korean bakeries. A box of 6 is around $21 with tax. I am very impressed. Their savory menu of Indian dishes also look interesting. I would have given them 5 stars but the cashier with a mustache is beyond rude. I ordered goat curry recently and they didn't provide rice or naan until I asked for it. The dude behind the counter said I had to ask for it when I placed my order. He went in the back and begrudgingly gave me half a container of rice scraped from the bottom of the pot. The right thing to do would have been for the person taking my order to ask me if I wanted rice or naan. So don't forget to ask for your fresh rice or naan while placing your order otherwise you'll just get the main dish. The food and pasties are as good as you can find in the area for a reasonable price. Located inside Lotte this store will not disappoint. I prefer to take my food to go. We ordered from there a couple years ago, and got a bad case of food poisoning. We stopped getting food from there obviously but thought that maybe the food isn't as bad all the time. Fast forward to a couple weeks back - I was out with a few friends and were super hungry. We had to stop at lotte anyways to get some stuff, so decided to pick up some samosa and similar snacks for tea. We got samosas and dhokla.. the owner was in a good mood and he was like I will throw in extra chutney for you guys.. good right! Except that when we got home, we realized the chutney was spoilt.. so were the samosas.. The only food that was edible was dhokla.. we ended up throwing the food! Sharing my experience with the tenant Pastry Corner on 7/23/22 inside Lotte Place Ashburn, VA. Pastry Corner Guy1: pc1 Pastry Corner Guy2: pc2 When I first showed up to the store, there was no one at the counter. One customer (2 adults and a kid) was probably waiting for the pc1. Now I'm the 2nd customer in the line and maintained the social distance of about 6 ft. Now comes a 3rd customer and apparently he doesn't bother to see me or notice if anyone is already in a line. He just stood a little farther but closer to the counter than me. In few minutes pc1 came and delivered a cake, got the payment and all the time I had an eye contact with pc1. But he didn't have an eye contact with me. As soon as the first customer is moved, immediately the 2rd customer started interacting. It is a pick up order. pc1 talked to him. At this time, he never bother to check who's in the line, rather ask the standard question of I see both of you in the line, who came first? I waited without saying anything as sometimes other customer's may be in a rush, whatever it is. pc1 serviced customer 3 and then I placed my order of Briyani. pc1 said it will take about 20 to 30 minutes and you can do your shopping and can come back. I told him, I don't have anything to shop and I will stay in the opposite section. The opposite section is where they kept beer, wine and few other special drinks that's hardly about 15-20 feet from the counter. I was waiting at this opposite section, that's hardly 10 feet from the counter, directly across, visible easily from the counter. Here's when the key event started. Once in a while I was looking at pc1, no response, I see him, but he sort of focus on his store responsibilities and probably served 1 or 2 more customers. I then felt, why should I stare at the counter and started playing a game in my phone. 15 minutes past, 25 minutes past, then it's now over 50 minutes past since I ordered. No response. Then I felt like, let's ask for when the food will be ready. Reached the counter and now I don't see pc1, instead a new pc2 is there. I asked when the Briyani will be ready? pc2 said, it's ready and pointed me to the package right there in the counter tabletop. Then I asked pc2, if the food is ready a while ago, you could have called me, I was standing right there. "I had been waiting for over 50 minutes and it's not needed, right?" I said. To that, pc2 said, I have no idea of whose order is this. pc1 finished his work for the day and said to give this Briyani to a customer when they come to ask for it. That's all.. I think they assumed that it is a common practice for a shopper to order food at the store first, then do the shopping and then come and check for the food at the counter. When I said to pc1 that I'll be waiting right there, he most likely didn't pay attention or didn't bother to capture the customer's request. If to be stated in a rude way, "I got my business and got your payment. I least care whether what time you come and grab the food.. My responsibility is over". pc2 on the other hand, asked me "how would someone know that you're waiting here and only by a telepathy or a remote mechanism pc2 would come to know". He didn't say the second part, but via a sign/acting he showed. I felt why this guy has gone into a defense mode instead of understanding the issue and see how can he improve the business. He then asked me, you (as a customer) tell me how you could have handled this problem. I told him that pc1 could have been vigilant with what's happening around him, and shared you that that customer is the one waiting for the briyani and deliver it once it is ready before leaving the work place. pc2 didn't acknowledge my message, despite after I shared my feedback at his request. Finally, I said to pc2.. you run a store and you win. The only thing I can do from my end is, I will never shop again. After that only, he asked me.. what? Should I say sorry to you? If you expect that, I'm sorry, God bless you etc to me. In my honest opinion, the pc2 didn't understand the problem (listening) and seek an effort on how this sort of an issue can be avoided easily. read more

Nice little gem of an Indian restaurant, tucked away in one corner of Lotte. A decent menu with lots of options at a reasonable price. It is open early so on the weekends when all other India restaurants are closed this is a great place to enjoy an Indian breakfast snack like idly with sambar or other delicacies. They also seem to have a wide variety of pastries and also make cakes for all occasions including birthdays. I spoke to the owner of the restaurant who seems passionate about this place and he has over twenty years of experience in the business. It opened very recently and with more patrons and the owner's drive, should improve the variety of dishes offered including other snack items like samosa chat and bhel puri. So this little bakery/cafe is located inside of Lotte. I had a fierce craving for some butter chicken one day and the Indian restaurant I usually go to in town was closed. I figured my second best option was to go to Lotte and see if I could gather the ingredients to make this dish myself. Lo and behold when I got there, I saw an Indian cafe to the left and they had butter chicken! It was the best dang butter chicken I've ever had in my life. I got it with a side of rice (although you could get it with naan). One lunch serving was only $5.99 - a steal for such GREAT FOOD! The chicken is so tender and cooked in the most delicious flavorful sauce you've ever had. It pairs so nicely with the rice. This one lunch serving ended up yielding 3 lunch servings so for the next 2 days, I looked forward to lunch very much because I KNEW I would enjoy my leftovers. That said, it reheats really well - the sauce doesn't separate or anything! The service here is great too! You can really tell they take pride in what they make. I waited less than 5 minutes for my meal and it was served piping hot when I got it. They clearly know what they're doing here! The atmosphere isn't the best because, you're literally eating inside of a grocery store, but this review is pretty focused on the food and the food itself deserves all 5 stars. Bought samosas and chicken biryani today. Samosas were good - especially the skin - you can tell it was made from scratch. The biryani was very stale. The rice was dry and the chicken was super dry and burnt. It tasted like they reheated old food from 2 days ago. This place used to be really good and the food was always fresh. I used to come here all the time. The nicest girl would always be working the counter. My dad and I loved their butter chicken for a quick bite. That was when they had the smaller sized takeout container. But I went there recently and sad to say their butter chicken was VERY watered down. Sambar that came with it was sweet, chutney had a foul smell, we could not even eat it. I liked 'Pastry Corner Bakery & Cafe' in Lotte Plaza Ashburn when it started, but needless to say POOR QUALITY, bad management had changed all that.... If only I had taken pictures of their crafty work!! I will cut the first 2 and go to the last two incidents. I have ordered to carry 'Indian Pav Baaji' over the phone. But to our surprise All we received was plain Pillav rice (which is not Biryani or not something that was ordered), The store was closed when we called up, we went their next day evening to figure out the cause of the goof up, The Store attendant was impolite & bad mannered, I was given the store owner phone number and asked us to bugger off, where he was the guy who took our orders last night and was responsible to get it right , NOT EVEN AN APOLOGY!!
