This a huge store with usual indian grocery but very consistent and has a wide variety of items. Place is crowded on weekends but that is expected since it is a customary errand for a lot of Indian families. They have both fresh and frozen vegetables. They even frozen meat section with a really huge variety of fish. They have fresh samosas and mini kachoris you can order at check out and they even have a small stall outside with freshly squeezed sugar cane juice. The prices are reasonable and the quality is decent. It is clean enough for a grocery store and I would say well maintained inside. The carts outside is a different story with people leaving them haphazardly but that is not entirely the management's fault. For Diwali, they gave us a box of sweets as a gift box which was a nice touch. I don't go there too often since it is a bit far from me but whenever I am in the area, I ensure to make a stop here. read more

Returning after many years, I walked into Patel Brothers and instantly wondered why I didn't keep coming here. The produce area alone is worth the trip. The people who work there could not have been nicer and when I asked a question that the employee couldn't answer, a customer joined the conversation and helped. Love the people who are drawn to this business! We had the most tasty, orange fleshed jackfruit we've ever had. We bought a small whole one and my only regret is that we didn't take one of the larger ones! It was wonderful to have options of greens, herbs, mangoes, etc. So, sure I bought more produce than planned - no apologies! The dry goods sections of the store had brands I see in other markets and many brands I didn't know. We bought ground spices for a recipe - the reason I returned to the store - and some vegan lentil snacks. Some of the snacks were stale but the spices were great - and from the same brand. We didn't buy cold or frozen items but there were many to choose. We're going back soon - if for no other reason than to get more fruit! read more

This is the Indian store of all Indian stores down in South Florida. I can't believe it took me this long to visit. I love, love, love Indian food. I love it to the point that I have learned to make chicken tikka masala, even if I generally hate cooking. Usually when I bother cooking or when I try to find a product of this fine culture, I shop around and find it. It typically takes several stores, but Patel Brothers is a one-stop shop. A great store to buy Indian products. I came after dinner in search of sumac spice and of course my Amla candy. I got to the store a little too late. I got there at 8.10 and their store hours are 10 am to 8 pm. They were nice enough to let me buy the amla that is right next to the cash register. An extensive selection at this Indian market makes this one of the best and largest in the area. Although the fresh produce section is far more limited than the massive FoodTown world market, the spices, flour, rice, and frozen goods offer incredible variety. They did have a nice variety of fruit, peppers, even a few massive jackfruit. The market is neat and organized... very tall shelves! The staff is helpful and friendly. Prices were well in line with other markets. I found some varieties of tea that have been difficult to locate lately at other markets, including my favorite Wag Bakri Masala Chai. We also were looking today for a couple varieties of cardamom, and were happy to see both were available. My number one place to go for vegetables and desi spices/sauces. There are certain desi food items you might just find here. For example they have pickled veggies/fruits in containers, which are already mixed with seasoning. Whenever I have been here, they are constantly busy. It's sometimes tough navigating the cart around the store when it's super busy. However, the employees can be found restocking merchandise and are happy to direct you where the item is which you are looking for. They have some deals on major holidays or certain times in the year. For example right before Ramadan last year, they had certain food items on promotional prices. Check out area is usually busy but they have 2-3 registers constantly open. They have unique desi candies in this area too. I like to purchase the mango and guava chewable candies. Love this place, I can literally find anything that I want that is Indian. They imported frozen foods, hard to find spices, Indian vegetables & fruits, sweets, and spiritual supplies. Like with all ethnic stores you're bound to find something expired, or some produce offending your eyes lol. This place is always packed, and about 99% of the shoppers are ethnic Indians. Every time I pass by I get some frozen samosas, black seeds, and some nan bread, I really need to diversify my shopping list. I haven't even tried their sweets, and I'm certain I've not had Indian sweets since I was in India years ago. Giving them 5 stars for super delicious samosas and kachori. I recently moved from California to Florida and I was really missing home cooked food. You know that Indian taste (yum). They were little spicy for me but the taste was so good and authentic that I just inhaled them. I am so glad to know that now I have a place to go to. This is a really cool place, if you're looking for authentic Indian ingredients. It's well stocked and clean. There were tons of things that I've never seen in the fresh produce section. The store was kinda crowded and we were in somewhat of a hurry, so I didn't get to see everything. There were aisles of unique snacks, sweets and staples along with a big frozen section of all kinds of things you can take home and heat, if you're in a hurry. They could do two things to improve. One would be to put in a hot bar of dishes that you can take home. I actually thought there was one, which is why we went. The other thing would be to put English titles on the items. There were so many interesting things, but I had no idea how to cook them, as I'd never heard of them. Love this place. Whenever I get to this neighborhood I load up with fresh vegetables and fruit. They have things no one else does, you just have to be patient. The owners and employees are very pleasant. It's always - "where have you been? We haven't seen you in ages!" (I guess that I am easy to spot - male gringo over 60 : - ) The only thing I don't care for are the other customers (who are frequently disregarding) and their ill-mannered children. Patel Brothers is the Publix equivalent of Indian foods. This franchise has been expanding rapidly and even though they are all the way in sunrise it is usually worth the drive. They have all the different kinds of exotic stuff available along with a fresh selection of vegetables and fruits. The most important distinction from other small Indian food stores is the organization, cleanliness and selection of different products available. Everything available is fresh and they rarely have something missing. Today we needed three products that I was pretty sure would be difficult to find yet we were able to get all three at Patel Brothers. Besides the chapati that I've been looking for which is delicious. Not impressed. I saw customers dip their hand in the barrels for "samples" and an associate walk right by. The employees aren't helpful, nor friendly. I asked for help because I was unsure of a product and was told "read the back" okay ... (Obviously I did) and was just brushed off by two associates. First of all it really is a large market for the type of food they have. It looked clean and appealing. I just hope there is enough clientele to make this business thrive. They only carry one brand of Daals which I hope are good, not like other markets that have a variety of brands. I really wish they had a cafeteria of sorts selling samosas and other treats along with Chai. I think it could work along side with some sweets. They did sell some samosas, but they were in a aluminum pan covered with aluminum paper and didn't look too appealing at least to us. I think they should liase with the local community to see what they would expect and want. read more

I saw this place when I was going to the LA Fitness in the same shopping center. It's on the smaller side and hidden toward the back of the plaza. Walking through the parking lot you see women dressed in traditional Indian fashions heading into the market, which is a good sign you've found an authentic place to find Indian cuisine. When you walk in the market is on the smaller side and a bit crowded. There is a large produce section toward the front. At the back the wall is lined with freezer cabinets where there is a large variety of frozen foods to take home for those quick meals to heat up when you need a last minute meal. There is another section of unique snacks, sweets and spices. It's a market I don't see myself shopping in a lot because I honestly don't know how to cook most Indian cuisine, however I would definitely get some of the freezer meals to try since all I would have to do is heat them up.
