Great customer service. Couldn't ask for more than nice people protecting your money!! Always greeted with smiles, the only thing that I find especially annoying is when they ask, " What's your account number? " Honestly speaking, do costumers really remember their account number?! I've never been asked this question anywhere, and I find it bothersome. Maybe it's just me. I asked if people actually memorize their account numbers and the clerk replied, "No"....... Then stop asking. Wouldn't be better to request a picture ID instead? By asking for the account number that customers don't know starts the transaction off on a negative note. They help High Class Auto by giving them loans to rip people off. These banks should credit check these business's as hard as they do the average customer. They are helping David seek innocent people garbage cars for high amounts. If banks stop helping these scammers we could be protected. IMHO. TL;DR: Started new account process on the phone. The call took 20 minutes. Went to the local branch with required documents. After 15 minutes of waiting, I was assisted by a teller. This process took around 40 minutes. After 60 minutes, I had a new account and debit card. Telephone Experience: B, Branch Experience: F- On Tuesday, March 3, 2020, I called the 800-number and started the new account process. The call took 20 minutes to complete. I was told I would need certain documents to create my account. I was informed the bank uses a third-party to verify information. I asked if this is in regards to my credit report (This comes up during the branch visit). She said no, and after that I ended the call. I gathered the required documents and headed to the local branch. I arrived around 3:15 pm. They buzz you in, so no giant glass enclosures compared to other banks. This is where the trouble began. Two tellers were occupied with other guests, and there weren't any around. Two employees came out but did not offer to assist or acknowledge me. After 10 minutes, one of the employees finally acknowledged my presence and told me they were sorry and servicing a machine. Fair enough but I should have been acknowledged earlier. Finally, after 15 minutes of waiting, one of the tellers offered to help me. So we go to the desk and finish the new account application. This took around 40 minutes. During the process, I was told that they would need to access my credit report (Experian only). The telephone rep did not mention this during the initial call. However, I granted temporary access to my credit report to complete it. Finally, after 60 minutes, I had a new account and debit card. I hope I never have to go the branch because their customer service is awful. Apparently, they won a local award, I have no idea how that's possible. I'm not sure if this review will make a difference or not but as a customer at this bank I feel this needs to be said. For context my sister and I are both members of this bank (I am white, my sister is black) , we transferred from the Elk Grove branch which going in we never had an issue, this bank has been a very different experience. I'm going to condense this story but essentially what I'm trying to explain is that this branch is extremely unwelcoming and racist to non-white individuals. My sister came in to withdraw some money from HER account, which is a perfectly normal thing to do and is well within her rights as a member of any bank, when she went in she was heavily questioned and intimidated by the staff member helping her and when seeking help with the situation she was gaslit and made to feel like she was in the wrong for just trying to withdraw her own funds! Now to solidify that this was not just a coincidence I went in (again for context we are around the same age so this shouldn't have made a difference) I was greeted, not questioned and in and out in about five mins, with no issues. I feel this needed to be reported in some way and also to let people who might face the same issue here consider banking somewhere else. Shame on them. read more

I have used Patelco for years. They were wonderful. Emphasis on WERE. Now they are crap. First time I had a problem it took 2 months to get solved. It was a fraudulent check. They made me feel like a criminal not a victim. I was guilty until proven innocent. Now again another check was cleared for the wrong amount. This time it is not a fraudulent check. It is the incompetence of the credit union. Wonder how long it will take to get this corrected. Stay away, far away from Patelco Credit Union. You are better off keeping your money under your mattress. read more

I have been to a lot of different Patelcos and I have never been ignored like I have in this particular one. I was on a short work break and I wanted to come by and get something very simple and quick done. When I walked in I was not greeted by anyone and there was a young man at his desk talking very loudly to a customer who had completed her transaction. He talked about Groot from the marvel movies, Dwight from the show the office, the teams that weren't doing so good in basketball this year, and how he was not one of the youngest employees anymore (Corey is). There was another employee who shared a cubicle with him and she joined into that conversation commenting on how he's not young anymore. After waiting for about five minutes and making constant eye contact with this female employee I walked over to her and I asked her if she would be able to assist me with getting a cashiers check to which she responded I needed to go to the teller first or wait for somebody who wasn't currently busy. After waiting a few more minutes the very nice teller became free and I asked her is it normal for her to be the only teller she said for today it was. (I had to speak over the employee that was at his desk talking very loudly to the teller who was right in front of me) Then I asked her was she the only person that could help me with a cashiers check and she responded the other employees could have helped me. After about two minutes of talking to the very nice teller I completed my business and I was out the door. I'm constantly in different banks due to the nature of my job and I know what is professional and what is unprofessional. This is not only the worst patelco that I've been in this is the worst bank that I've been in and I've been in some banks in some really bad areas. I do not mind waiting for my turn and I do not mind the employees socializing but if it interferes with assisting customers that you can clearly see needs assistance and can hear customers asking for help and do nothing about it then the management there needs to have a conversation with their employees. read more

I have been a member for almost 30 years. The products and rates are competitive however this branch customer service is horrendous. The most recent occurrence - I receive disbursement's from a law office from a trust. I have received these checks for 20 years. Today the would not accept cuz the check lists my name with my maiden as my middle name. It always has. Current branch manager would not accept because it does not match the name on the account. I opened the account with my maiden name. I have to bring a marriage license to deposit the check. I live a distance away so coming in is a special trip. I am very much thinking of taking my business elsewhere read more

The few times I have had to go to the actual branches we have always received outstanding service. My only complaint is that they have spoiled me so much with their services that the fact that they don't do business accounts creates major issues with me. I have been a member with Patelco for around 5 years now and have always gotten very good customer service. I recently moved from the bay area to Antelope and Patelco locations have been very convenient all over the Sacramento area. I recently applied for a line of credit, which was a very easy and straight forward process compared to my big bank I am also with. After being approved, I received an email saying to bring in a few documents verifying my income. I stopped by the Folsom Patelco branch just because I happen to be in the area that day, to see if what I had was enough. I was missing a paycheck stub from one of my employers, as I am paid through direct deposit and it is a long and complicated process to get a copy of the stub. The loan specialist I met with, Sarah, was very kind and professional and didn't treat me like an idiot for not having the document. I left feeling rather discouraged at having to get that paper, but the next day Sarah called and said that she was able to get my papers pushed through without it! This above and beyond customer service is the final straw that will get me to use Patelco as my primary bank. I have recommended Patelco to my friends and family for everything from car loans to consolidation loans, and they always tell me their experience was excellent. There are alot of banking options out there, but I can't imagine wanting to switch to anyone else. read more
