Patelco Cost me thousands! Nearly three years on autopay with a 36 month car loan. While I was out of country they canceled my autopay and dinged my credit. I had maybe two payments and a credit rating of 810. It went to 650, all my cards cut my credit, utilization doubled, and rates went through the roof. They tried this again with a credit card that was on autopay. RUN SCREAMING! read more

Ugh!! I used to love Patelco credit union, but not so much anymore. They customer service used to be great now it's barely mid at best. There are no matter what time of day you stop in it's always a ridiculously long line and hardly any staff. If there is staff they aren't helping. Have 2 worker taking members is crazy work. I've closed all my accounts with Patelco except my savings account since I still have my auto loan with them. That too will be closed as soon as I pay my car off. I honestly cannot recommend Patelco. There are better credit unions out there. I am also flustered with way they handled accounts when Patelco got hacked. The ATMS are always out of order etc.. I could go on and on. Patelco's best attributes is that it is a credit union and does treat members well with respect to not fee gouging. Where it can improve signifcantly: 1) Documents and Statements - If you have more than one mortgage and you need to download multiple statements it is so badly set up. You can only view, then download one statement at a time and they name ALL statements the same way. It's fine if you only have one mortgage, but if you have 2+ mortgages, then expect to get confused because all statements just says that...monthly statement. "Mortgage Statement 1st/2nd Statement_Date" Again, if you have only 1 mortgage, this is simple enough, but of you have multiple mortgages with them you start to wonder who they hired for the effort of naming. 2) Zelle through Patelco sucks. When I had it with Wells Fargo, I can add a payee and pay them instantly. With Patelco, expect to get embarassed because you will add someone who you are buying something off FB marketplace thinking you can just Zelle them, but you end up getting a message that your recipient won't get your zelle payment until the following monday or some interval after. Patelco will give you lip service that this is a policy issue. It may be, but Wells Fargo does this much better and so it's a horribly policy issue. I understand they are freaked out by their data breach, but at the same time, not improving some basic service items that would make their service better means they aren't keep up that well. read more

I had the worst banking experience with Patelco Credit Union. I was approved in-branch for a used car loan--made it crystal clear I was buying an electric vehicle (EV). No issue, everything was confirmed and approved. Then a few hours later, I get an email that looked like a phishing scam: wrong loan terms, a different name, and a completely different loan type that explicitly excluded EVs. Called Patelco to find out what happened, and instead of owning their obvious mistake, they gaslit me and acted like I was confused--even after I sent them their own emails showing the contradictory information. Not a shred of empathy, just condescending and patronizing responses from their loan department and call center staff. This was a complete bait-and-switch, and nobody took responsibility. How do you go from a standard used car loan approval to dumping someone into a subprime loan with incorrect details? Totally unacceptable. Save yourself the headache--go to literally any other credit union. Patelco is a disorganized, dismissive, and frankly untrustworthy operation. read more

This is the worst credit union by far. They mishandled our money, and when you visit the branch, they treat you poorly. Be prepared to wait a long time in line every time you visit a branch where all the staff are rude. They don't even allow members to use the restroom. They could treat their loyalty customers better. Can't do zero stars but I would. I am so angry I spent 25 mins on hold because the online is down due to a security issue. The rep I could hardly understand had no info at all. I needed to pay my mortgage and no solution. I asked yes or no questions and she kept giving me the company answer. I was told they weren't hacked but tell me If no breach why does it take 3 days to fix with no eta? Also asked if I could pull all my money out and go somewhere else because I obviously can't trust them and was told no. Apparently that is the answer to everything no. Or we have no info. And the stupid email I got Sunday had no info. We all figured out there was an issue sat. I try and be forgiving but not when you withhold my money. I don't play around with that. Data breaches happen, and I understand that. However, Patelco's crisis management has been too slow. The breach occurred on June 29th, and I only received an email today, August 20th, confirming that my personal data was leaked after some time. In early July, a Patelco staff member who was responding to their data breach hotline told me that the personal data breach had not occurred. Throughout this period, Patelco has not communicated with us in a clear and timely manner. I no longer trust this credit union. read more

I've been a member of Patelco Credit Union for 20+ years. Ever since moving here to Sacramento 3 years ago it's been a living hell. I don't understand why the Sacramento branches are so bad. I would not recommend this Credit Union to my worst friend. I always had good service in the San Francisco Bay Area. I don't believe it's the employees. I guess they haven't found a branch manager yet. I plan on closing my accounts in the next two weeks. I guess the rumors are true that corporate may close the Sacramento branches. I am beyond angry with Patelco. Just found out why I haven't been able to access online banking based on a security issue. Patelco is just now addressing this issue. Evidently, this has been ongoing since yesterday but the issue is now publicly being addressed. To make matters worse, there is no estimated time when the system will be functional. I cannot be with out access to my money. What am I supposed to do? Withdraw what I have in order to have money. Patelco should have a backup plan in place for situations like this one. read more
