I had to return yesterday and the nurse practitioner Kristin was so kind and listened to my concerns and really showed great quality of care. Sicily is a wonderful medical assistant. I am happy with my general practioner that isn't associated with Gateway, but Kristin properly diagnosed me with bronchitis. My general practioner diagnosed me with pneumonia, but Kristin wondered why my general practitioner never did a chest xray before diagnosing me with pneumonia. Yesterday, Kristin gave me a chest X-ray and breathing treatment as well as prescribing me meds for my horrible cough. I will definitely return to Gateway in the future for my medical needs.

I went to this urgent care on Sunday and paid $90 for the visit, $6 for a strep test, and $16 for…read morethe prescription. I came in with chest pain, severe throat pain, and a persistent cough. The provider said my throat "looked like tonsillitis with exudate," but admitted she wasn't sure what I had -- mentioning it could be mono, strep, or tonsillitis. My strep test was negative, yet I was still prescribed amoxicillin based only on what it "looked like." The visit lasted about 10 minutes, and I was told to come back if symptoms worsened. After 4 days on amoxicillin, my symptoms got worse, not better. I developed a severe cough keeping me up at night, my voice became hoarse again, and my throat and chest pain increased. I returned on Thursday and explained everything, including that I am cash pay and had just been there days earlier. I was told I still had to pay $50 plus more for prescriptions. The second provider was rude and dismissive, cut me off while I was explaining my symptoms, and defended the first prescription instead of listening. She admitted she also didn't know what I had, saying it "could be anything" and made an inappropriate political comment about viruses, verbatim stating "well trump put all these viruses out there so I don't know what you have", which was completely unprofessional. No one addressed my throat pain, chest pain, hoarseness, nausea, or worsening cough in a meaningful way. The visit again felt rushed (under 10 minutes). When I received my discharge paperwork, my diagnosis was listed as "acute cough and nasal congestion", which is not why I came in. None of my main symptoms were documented. I already have a weakened immune system, and being given medications based on guesses rather than proper evaluation is unacceptable. Between the cost, lack of clear diagnosis, dismissive care, and poor documentation, this was a horrible experience. I would not recommend this urgent care to anyone.

Use this as a massive warning! (And I am seeing others comment in these reviews similarly.) Circumstance 1: I went in to the Urgent Care for a UTI and was charged, using insurance, $812.00 just for a dip stick urine test and under a 2 minute doctor consultation to write me an RX. My insurance paid $7.37 total because they said that is the cost of a test. That makes sense. So what is left is costing me over $400 a minute for help for face to face care with a doctor. Circumstance 2: I went to the same Urgent Care (didn't have the bill for the previous one, otherwise I would not have gone) for bronchitis and a sinus infection. Again, heart rate, bp, and a stethoscope to my chest was all that was done, in addition to the prescription to take to a local pharmacy (no xrays or anything like that). This one was charged $528...so over $150 per minute to be face to face with a doctor. Both times I went, I was the ONLY patient in the waiting room (and didn't see one in the main part of the rooms). It's not like I was at a high peak time even. Why weren't others there...probably because they have read so many poor reviews unlike I did. I was telling this with a friend of mine and she told me that this happened to her as well (same location for an ear infection), resulting in an outlandish bill, so I am not the only person that this has happened to. I have called many times to get them to recode/adjust trying to dispute it even asking for the self payout, and they are not budging.They are standing behind their stomach-dropping fees. I will also say, I have gone to this location other times in past years for the same issues and never received such outlandish bills. It's as if they are treating this like an emergency room (and with my multiple phone calls the billing department employees keeps saying "ER"). I have driven by the place to make sure it didn't change to an ER and I mistakenly didn't notice, but the sign on the building (and the website) says Urgent Care. I am NOT trying to get out of paying for my services, but I will stand up for what is "right" and announce to many what a horrible company they have become. Seems like the only thing I can do is leave a bad review, notify the news company, file a complaint with the department of health, in addition to my insurance company (Blue Cross) knowing. Price gouging at its finest. Very deceiving business practice. Please go anywhere but here! Never, ever again will I use them! (Look at the slew of Google reviews on this place. I've been here a few times, both for myself and for my wife. This visit, we got super lucky with no one ahead of us, which made things even smoother. The front desk staff always does a good job making the check-in process easy and stress-free. The caregivers have consistently seemed thorough, attentive, and helpful, which is what you want when visiting an urgent care clinic. Another plus -- there's ample parking, making access simple. The providers didn't seem to listen or validate what I was experiencing. Communication was also poor. I left a voicemail and didn't receive a timely callback, and when I finally did, the response came across as rude and unsupportive. Overall, it felt more focused on getting patients in for additional visits than actually providing quality care. What makes this more frustrating is that my husband and I had just established care here and completed physicals on the family practice side. I rarely have medical issues and try to handle things the right way, so this experience was disappointing. I'll be continuing care with another office who actually listens, and my family will be finding a new primary care provider and urgent care moving forward.
