They were very accommodating when I called so I was pushed further back on the timeslot till after 3 PM so I could be home for the service. The technician Isaiah arrived and informed me what he was going to do. Afterwards he sent me a detailed report with photographs of my gutter system. And even better, the windows are easy to open, and my sliding glass doors actually slide well in the track, and are not shaking and drafty when it's windy outside -- major improvements from my old, builder-grade, 20+ year-old windows/sliding door. Further, the service crew was excellent -- careful, kind, professional, efficient, and they cleaned up everything afterwards. Roger, the foreman, has been doing this work for almost 30 years, and Jose, who single-handedly carried in/out the windows/doors, has been doing this work for 10+ years. I didn't get the name of the quiet third service person who was mostly outside and on the ladders, also very efficient. fyi, they did mention that working on the 4th floor of our condos from ladders was a bit more challenging as the original builder-grade windows had been made to fit by being packed/taped in place from the outside, which necessitated them having to actually break some of the glass to be able to pull the old windows out. But they did it - and did it well. Finally, Shaun, the project manager who gave me my estimate and oversaw the project from estimate, HOA approval process, to completion, was great. INSPECTION - scheduled and conducted efficiently; exceptionally thorough inspection report (David). COST - in line with all other quotes, which are apparently driven by the insurance estimate. Green Oak differentiation included owner interaction, master roofer certification, 5 star rating, excellent warranty, professional documentation and workflow management. WORK - scheduled efficiently, material arrived on time the day before, crew arrived on time the day of, work was conscientious and completed in 3/4 day (townhome), clean-up (including loose nail hunt) was impressively thorough. AFTER - received certificate of completion in a timely manner, along with photo record of repaired roof. Not being a roofer, it's difficult to assess the integrity of the new roof & shingles, however the end result appears clean and professional. I appreciate Justin taking my concerns seriously and making a meaningful effort to resolve the situation. I think it is equally important to acknowledge when a company responds to customer concerns and works to make things right. I'm also happy to hear about improvements they are making to improve both communications and the quoting process. I had a very frustrating experience with Gutter Ethics that lasted nearly five months, from April through September. The company evaluated my roof and gutters in April, but I had to repeatedly follow up before receiving a quote on May 1. The work was originally scheduled for June, but repeated cancellations and delays pushed the start date to August. I was also concerned about the lack of clarity in the quotes. Instead of providing one comprehensive proposal, Gutter Ethics sent several separate agreements for the roof, gutters, and additional work. The quotes primarily listed materials rather than clearly explaining the scope of work, what was included, or the total cost. This made it difficult to understand what I was agreeing to pay. Communication was consistently difficult, and I often had to contact the company for updates or clarification about the materials, scope, pricing, and schedule. When the crew finally arrived in August, I believed the agreed-upon work would be completed, but additional work and charges remained. It ultimately took four visits to finish the project, and I received another invoice in September that did not match my understanding of the final cost. If the full scope of work, materials, and total price had been clearly explained from the beginning, I could have made a properly informed decision before moving forward. John was the one positive part of my experience. He explained what needed to be done and eventually made an effort to get the project completed. Unfortunately, because of the unclear quoting, repeated delays, poor communication, incomplete work, and unexpected charges, I would not use Gutter Ethics again.
