On the day of, Jeremy texted to confirm and then when he was en route. He showed up, I explained and showed him a place where a leak occurred and that's what made us decide to replace. We discussed new architectural asphalt shingles. He was then going to go outside, check on the roof and afterwards into the attic from which he'd work an estimate. He said he could then meet with me or schedule the next day to meet, for an hour or even just 45 minutes. I work M-F and said I did not need a "sales pitch", I have some working/DIY knowledge of projects, materials and bidding. He then suggested next week. I declined saying it's not necessary. He said there's no reason then for him to proceed with doing the work if I wasn't going to meet afterwards. I was quite surprised. I said "okay, I'll pass" and he said 'thank you' and left. I've had two full estimates from two OTHER, reputable Roofing companies last week, no sales push. Our roof of concrete tiles needed a few tiles replaced due to some broken tiles. The initial contact with the estimator was an extremely thorough inspection of the roof both inside and outside. He discovered there was, indeed, a small leak where the tiles were disturbed but also an additional leak in the front that we had never noticed. Due to his diligence, we were able to get a minor leak repaired and not becoming a major roofing event. The repair took place as scheduled and done in a manner that left the roof hardly showing any work ever being done on it. The price was very reasonable, the workmanship was top-notch, and now we no longer worry about our roof. Patrick the sales Rep tripped over a carpet on purpose on his orginal visit and pretended I assaulted him and demanded cash and a check then their project manager broke into my house at night assaulting me and my wife repeatedly so we would pay to have the same roof area fixed several times. I have Autism and they exploited my disability hoping I would not remember. Only company has a worker who will text you and won't talk to you and ecplain. How much can you text? Do to a clumsily added addition, our roofing project was a monster. Most roofing companies flat out refused to even contemplate doing our job, or low balled us so bad, we knew that price spikes were inevitable. The only company to play it straight, was Patriot Roofing. A roofing expert stopped by and spoke a ton of jargon with my wife. I watched. It was all very exciting. Estimator left, and when he returned, we had prices for everything we wanted done, as well as options as to how far we wanted to go, and what it would cost. Estimate was close to final bill, with one notable exception (Which wasn't a surprise, given that the roof was old enough to have watched original broadcasts of *The Brady Bunch*). Over all we had only two complaints, a small hole in our ceiling (which was fixed, gratis), and given my wife worked out of the home, a little clearer communication would have been nice. Researched many roofing companies before deciding on Patriot. Requested several estimates, but Patriot was the only one that had the expertise and experience to accept the challenge. Had terrible dry rot and deterioration under the soffits that required extensive carpentry work and painting. Their employees were polite and respectful while giving expert workmanship. I read the owner's replay and I still think that 1 star is accurate. I have a low pitched roof and 1" scupper drops were becoming clogged very often. To lessen this problem, I had 1" scuppers changed to 2" scuppers when my roof was redone. Then I had to have once section replaced. The estimator from Patriot assured me that they would use 2" scuppers, but I didn't make sure he wrote that on the estimate. The actual roofers came on a day I was not home and my husband was. I told my husband to make sure they put in 2" scuppers. The roofers put in 1" scuppers. So not only is that corner once again not draining, but I had to replace the downspouts in order to fit the 1" scuppers. Other than putting in the wrong size scupper and changing their schedule at the last minute so I could not be home to supervise, they cleaned up after themselves--no cigarette butts left on the ground like some contractors. However, the 2 men who came should not have put in 1" scuppers to replace 2" scuppers. IF they didn't bring 2" scuppers because the estimator forgot to note that detail, I only live 2 blocks from a big hardware store. There's just no excuse for such sloppy work. So my advice is make sure your estimate have every single nit-picky detail written in it. And make sure you are home to supervise. read more

Patriot just replaced our aging cedar shingle roof on our custom-built home on South Hill, with a red standing seam metal roof. The new roof looks very attractive on the home and they did a great job. The process took a little longer than quoted (12 days as opposed to 8) and ended up costing a bit more than quoted, due to some unforeseen complexities in our attic, but Patriot gave us a fair price and did a quality job. Buyers Beware!!! Ridiculous Pricing for Complete Reroofing by Patriot Roofing!!! Do your research before selecting contractors to do your total reroofing project. Patriot Roofing sent out an estimator today to give me a bid on reroofing our house. Brandon, our estimator, proceeds to tell me how a felt underlayment roofing is better product than synthetic underlayment. I asked why since only because felt is so much cheaper? Due to moisture buildup in the attic, he states that felt has better breathability than synthetic and that issues have occurred with the synthetic underlayment rotting the wood deck of the roof. Total BS!!! If you have moisture in the attic getting under shingles and rotting the sheathing, it is due to inadequate ventilation (intake and exhaust). Synthetic underlayment, if you do your research, is a vapor barrier which contractors need to check for ventilation before installing synthetic underlayment to address the vapor barrier issue so that moisture is not trapped in the attic. The problem isn't with the design of the synthetic product but with in proper installation of it. Synthetic underlayment is costlier because it has a lot of advantages over felt like lighter, stronger, better traction, etc. Homeowners need to balance the higher cost of synthetic for it's advantages vs. the cheaper cost of felt. I felt like he was trying to sell me a "subpar product" at higher quality product prices. For the geeks like me, Owen Corning actually did a study titled "VAPOR PERMEABILITY PROVIDES NO PERFORMANCE BENEFIT FOR ROOFING UNDERLAYMENTS IN VENTILATED ATTICS". (You can Google for this exact title and find the pdf of this study). Their conclusion is: "Proper venting--and, in turn, proper airflow beneath the asphalt shingles and underlayment layers--will keep a roof deck and attic space dry and functioning as designed throughout the life of the roofing system, with or without a breathable underlayment below the shingles." So don't get sold into buying felt underlayment instead of synthetic with the claim that it is more breathable. Total BS!!!! He than proceeds to quote me an average of $600 to $700 per SQUARE of roofing ( or 100 sq. ft) for the mid-range architectural asphalt shingle like the CertainTeed Landmark. It's not even the top of the line architectural asphalt shingle product. RIDICULOUS PRICING!!! Local average cost data per square in the Puget Sound is between $400 to $600 per 100 square feet for asphalt shingles. I have 6 plus actual bids to confirm this from very reputable roofing contractors in the area with shingle manufacturers certifications and top rated from Puget Sound Consumer Checkbook. Also, my roofing style of my home is as simple as it gets. It is Open Gable with 4/12 pitch. No dormers or valleys, etc. It is just large open roof. So there is nothing to substantiate a ridiculous pricing of $600 to $700 per SQUARE of roofing except for down right greed. I sent him away without giving me a proposal. At those ridiculous prices, he's wasting my time AND the company's time!!! read more

They worked with us to save money without compromising quality (i.e. allowed us to do our own tear-off). They are professional, courteous and friendly to work with. Summary. I highly recommend Patriot Roofing based on our experience with them replacing our asphalt shingle roof on our two-story home. From start to finish, they were a great company to work with. In the end, they've exceeded my high expectations. Consultation Day. Jim came to our home on time, analyzed our roof, and gave us a free cost estimate. He explained the installation process, product and payment options, and warranty. He noticed we needed additional vents to bring our roof to code. At the end of the day, we had a detailed cost estimate and product brochures. We didn't decide just yet. Decision Day. We decided to go with Patriot based on past reviews and a clear cut warranty. Jim came back out and we spent thirty minutes or so trying to pick a color. Jim went back and forth from his truck with around six heavy samples until we made a final decision. Again, he didn't rush us and did not have a pushy attitude. Installation Day 1. Enrique, the job foreman, introduced himself and he was my main point of contact for the installation, which took two complete days. It was loud and messy, but there's no way around it. They brought out a dumpster and portable toilet, and one of those delivery trucks with the telescoping arms came by to deliver the shingles. Day 1 was mostly demolition and installing roof felt. They could have done a better job cleaning up after Day 1. They left tools out that I was worried would get stolen, but luckily they weren't. Installation Day 2. The crew was back early and worked super hard to install the shingles. They even separated what used to be a joint bathroom exhaust duct and installed an additional vent at no extra cost. They did charge me to replace one panel OSB roof sheathing which I knew upfront. At the end of Day 2, the roof looked great. I walked the roof with Enrique to go over areas that needed to be fixed. He assured me that someone would come back to address these items. After they completed their cleanup, I was very impressed after seeing the mess the demolition caused. They had rolling magnets that they ran all over my grounds to pick up all the nails, staples, etc. All of the construction debris was cleaned out of the gutters. When I did my final walk through, I'd say they exceeded my expectations with the installation and clean up. Follow Up. The owner, Steve, came out a few days later to look at the job and collect the final payment. Steve took his time and went over the items we had discussed with Enrique plus a few I added to the list. Steve handed us our packet which included our written warranty and said someone would be out within a few days to fix the outstanding items. Sure enough, they came out a few days later and fixed everything. Since then, we've had lots of rain and happy to say no leaks. My roof leaked and needed repair. Nestor and another roofing technician arrived on the scheduled day, checked my chimney and interior leak evidence and quickly diagnosed the problem. The first hour of labor was covered under a service call type of arrangement; labor was charged per man hour after that. The repair to the chimney flashing was completed in one additional hour. The composite shingles were replaced seamlessly and all waste was cleared; ladder usage was "kind" to my gutters and did not cause damage or leave marks. Found Patriot Roofing via a Valpak Coupon. Came out to give me a free written estimate within days of first contact. Work was scheduled to begin about 2 months later. Unfortunately there were some major storms the week my roof was scheduled so it was delayed about a month. They communicated this to me as soon as they could. The roofers completed the work in about 4 working days. They were delayed a week during the job due to rain and the holidays. They covered the entire roof with tarps to prevent further interior damage. When the work was complete, they cleaned the yard better than it was prior to the start of the job, even cleaned up leaves and dead plants! I ended up paying a little more for some additional repairs that took place, but the cost was very reasonable. Upon completion of all the work, the owner met with me to go over, in detail, all the work that took place, including pictures. First, a professional, first class wear-uniforms operation. Second, accept that a new roof done properly is expensive. I know I could have saved a lot of money by hiring others. Patriot did our simple roof, made a major improvement to a adjoining porch roof, made sure my bath and kitchen fans were properly installed (important!). I am sure we are saving at least ten dollars a month in heating/cooling costs because of the ridge vent. The house is properly ventilated for the first time, ever. And it got rid of all those black metal vent boxes on the roof. I got a good warranty, better than average financing through their recommended credit union (also buttoned up). Finally -- and consider this when considering bids: this new roof is up to current code. And accept that sooner or later, houses will be required to meet the current building code. If you spend $10,000 and find out a few years later that you will need to bring that new roof up to code before you can sell it, you might be pretty unhappy. You get what you pay for with Patriot. Patriot Roofing completed our re-roofing exactly as they said they would. John C. met with us after inspecting and measuring the roof to present Patriot's offer based on our choices for materials to be used. His presentation was very informative, complete, and he was able to answer all our questions and concerns which included obtaining the necessary permits and inspection following the job. He was able to schedule us a tentative start date based on their workload, but explained it could be extended due to rainy weather. The shingles and most of the other materials were delivered on the scheduled date but rain delayed the job start two days. The crew of seven supervised by project manager Eberardo arrived just as we were told they would and after a brief introduction they went to work. They brought along a portable toilet for the crew's use which none of the other companies we got estimates from provide. John had provided plywood to replace the rotted eaves for us to paint prior to the job so it wouldn't have to be done after installation, and birdblocks to bring the attic venting up to code. The crew took these and started the job. They were very knowledgeable, knew what each was to do, and worked very well together as well as individually. Watching them left no doubt that they knew their job. Our's is an average size home and the first day they completely stripped the roof down to the wood, replaced all damaged sheeting, replaced all the eaves with our painted plywood, installed venting for exhaust fans, and installed the necessary waterproofing to protect the roof overnight. The next day they completely shingled the roof to our amazement. Roofs in our neighborhood done by other companies took 3-4 days. These guys are professionals. The crew cleaned up all the debris prior to leaving both days. This included running a large magnet over the entire yard near the house to pick up nails and staples. I had Patriot Roofing come to my house to provide an estimate. Since they wanted to come out during the week, I had my dad meet the Patriot Roofing estimator. After a thorough review of our roof, he told my dad that he would call me with an estimate. A week went by and no call. Two weeks went by and no call. I began to think maybe he had the wrong number. I called the estimator and left a message. No return call. Another week later, I called the office. They said the estimator was on vacation and would call me the following week when he returned. My dad also called the office and got the same story. It's now November, two months later, and neither my dad or me have received an estimate or a call back. However, they forgot to mention that if they have to replace the plywood due to it being rotted or damaged, it's the owners responsibility to paint it. It's no big deal but they should had mentioned it. Upon talking to the manager, he called me back and said that he spoke to the owner and decided to paint it. But since that phone call over a month ago, they still have yet to paint it if they even will. Another inconvenience was scheduling to replace my roof on a certain date but they had to cancel and reschedule it a week later due to unforeseen circumstances. But still affected my work schedule.
