The fried okra is golden and crispy on the outside and tender on the inside too - just a little bit too salty on the seasoning. Tried this restaurant for the first time. I was a bit taken aback as it wasn't exactly what I was expecting. A lot of the seating was not in use and blocked off with caution tape. I am not taking any points off my review for the setup as I don't know the reasons; however, my personal preference for this type of restaurant is full service. There is a counter in front with an "order here" sign and then a "pick up order here" part as well. I just was not really expecting this kind of a setup. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, so that was all great. I had read on another review that they prepare a certain amount of each meat item and once it is gone they are out for the day. So I thought we had gone pretty early as we arrived at just after 5 pm. Unfortunately they were out of what I was going to order, baby back ribs, so I went with the spare ribs. My dad ordered a pulled pork sandwich dinner. The dinners all come with fries, Cole slaw and beans. There are 5 different sauces to choose from and we both went with Pat's house sauce, which is mild, but very flavorful! The ribs were very good and were fall off the bone tender. Dad said his pulled pork was very good as well. The fries were excellent and had a very nice crispness and exceptional flavor! The Cole slaw was very good as well! The beans were okay, nothing overly special or distinctive. Our orders were packaged to go and we took them to a table to eat. I have never been here before, so I am not sure if some of their procedures are because of COVID or standard procedure. I ate at Pat's at the Milwaukee Public Market 3 times now. The food is very good. I think the tastiest in Milwaukee and just as good if not better than my go to place when I am in Kansas City, Arthur Bryants. Service is good and quick. The person taking by order has never been overly friendly, but they were not rude either. A smile and a friendly welcome to Pat's would go a long way to make the customers feel like Pat's wants their business. It is more expensive and side portions for the price smaller than most BBQ places, but I attribute that to the high overhead costs of operating inside the Milwaukee Public Market. Omg what a great little treasure tucked away instrip mall on sunset! Seems family run. Staff was still pleasant especially during this crazy covid! They were super busy but took time with use to explain their menu items since we didn't know that much about bbq. Their homemade sauces were amazing! Portions were nice and good was great. Hubby had beef brisket I had the pork. I liked the pork Beyer but I think it's just a matter of taste s they were both very good. Will definitely be returning. I went there today with my family and was pleasantly surprised. Not that I was expecting anything wrong but the surprise was that we had to place pretty much to ourselves. The service is great the place is exceptionally tidy. The ambiance is very comfortable and the decor is spot on. This place has been around for a while, but it is a hidden gem to me now that I "discovered " it. I will come here for my "home style expertly smoked meat. I've ate a lot of bbq in this city and this is IT. IMO. The one that matters in this case. If you know of a better tasting rib please let me know. Went here with a co-worker for lunch on the recommendation of someone else we know and the place was great. It's pretty small and cozy but we had no problem getting a seat at lunch. The 2 ladies behind the counter were very helpful and friendly. We both had the beef plate and the beef was very tender, they had several sauce choices, and with 3 sides it was 10.99, great price for that much good food. This is a great place to try. Good southern food with 5 or 6 sauces to add at your pleasure. The spare ribs are tender and smoked just right and are my choice. They run out fast so best to call ahead if you're making the drive after 6:00pm, seriously. I've arrived twice to learn that lesson. Their pulled pork and brisket sandwiches are great as well. you receive enough to take home and have for breakfast the next morning if you're hungry. I loooove this place!! The food and environment is absolutely amazing! The owners and workers are very pleasant and make sure you are taken care of. But, when I call and order food to pick up, please tell me the correct time to pickup my food. Don't tell me it's going to take 25 minutes when it's really going to take an hour. So this place is this tiny room that you wouldn't find unless you were looking for it. What you didn't know is that you are. They have the juiciest brisket and pulled pork, we had both and no regrets! (we were having dinner an hour after). Fried green beans, perfectly crisp with this ranch that was amazing with "Alisha's sauce," this sweet and spicy BBQ sauce that was awesome! They had a variety of BBQ sauces, all delicious. Today was the day for pats rib place and it has been on my radar for a while. I'm glad I went because it is my official #2 rib after LDS BBQ in the greater Milwaukee area. They looked and smelled amazing by the way. I like that they don't sauce the meat so it stands on its own. Great smoke flavor and every inch covered in a dry rub. They were moist and just tender enough for that the perfect chew. They were not fall off the bone but pulled clean off the bone. I had the spare ribs with the tips still on. This was to my surprise after looking at the mixed reviews and I didn't know what to expect. The ribs were two thumbs up. I had the sweet and spicy sauce and that was very good as well. The dinned comes with Fry's, Cole slaw and beans. The Fry's were very good because they were battered or something and not like most Fry's. I wish I knew what style of Fry's they are. Cole slaw I throw away 90% of the time but this slaw was very good also. The beans did nothing for me and were very runny. Over all this place is very solid. I will be back period. The place is in a strip mall and is kind of small with booths, tables and a bar that you need a ladder to get to the top of the stool and sit down. Seriously what's with the very tall stools. I've had Pat's three times now, and twice were for the fish fry. Their catfish is awesome but the perch has just been so-so (a bit fishy flavored). Their barbecue is tasty! However, in my three times visiting Pat's, we have had three different types of fries. One time they were AMAZING - battered almost, crispy on the outside and soft inside. Another time they were thin, almost like McDonald's fries, and tonight they were more just like a basic French fry you'd get at a buffet. Nothing special.
