Walked in, we were seated immediately. The inside has country decor which was cute. It seemed a little outdated and could use a deep cleaning. The coffee cups had dents around the edges. Looked as if they were teeth chips. Yikes. Our server was awesome, friendly , smiling and very helpful. There was a lot of foot traffic of people in and out dining in and to go orders. It took a little while for our food to come out but not a big deal. There was absolutely no flavor or seasoning in any of the food. The food presentation was nice, but everything was bland, tasteless. Even adding salt did not help. For me, its a hard pass on returning. When we checked out, I noticed that their health score was a 90. We didnt notice that before hand and would have passed. Customer service gets 5 stars alone.

I ordered the 3 eggs over medium with bacon and hashbrowns. The eggs were almost overcooked but still good. Bacon was cooked perfectly, nice and crispy. The hash browns had a funny taste which I think was from the oil they use. My husband had 3 eggs over medium with two large pieces of liver mush and breakfast potatoes. He loved all of it.

First off: I'm not from around here and not accustomed to some of the local flavors and customs…read more that being said the sign has "Pit" on it but the meats look like no pitted product I've ever seen... it's not coming apart shredded or sliced meat out of a low-and-slow en-smokement device begging for sticky red sauce, more of a gently cooked pile of moister meats sharing space with a few hushpuppies and a pile o' fries plus a dish of slaw beside (tomatoey red is standard, dreamy white is available) BBQ Plate eats well enough even with the unusual appearance; give it a dose from the bottle of red and a few tugs with your fork and you'll be okay. white slaw is sweet with a little tang (the red is a bit too interesting for me) fries and pups are standard fare. could have stood a couple of biscuits and some green beans in lieu of fries but that's just me. plenty of good hot coffee and the ladies are way friendly and attentive. food compares favourably with a few other local spots but like I said, I am so not from around here...

It is not much to look at, inside or out, but don't be fooled - you came for the food anyway. There are Dale Earnhardt Sr pictures, posters, statues, and other memorabilia in display cases and on the walls, everywhere. Don't know if Dale ever ate here (know that he had a favorite diner across town), but I'd bet he'd like the food and the people. We kept it simple - a Chopped BBQ Sandwich with slaw (not BBQ slaw), and a Chili Dog with mustard, chili, & onions. The Hot Dog was outstanding - a classic Southern style chili dog - nice meaty chili, decent wiener, fresh cut onions, soft bun - there aren't that many better than the dog here. The Chopped sandwich was also very, very good - typical of the barbecue in the Lexington/Salisbury corridor, but with a touch more smokiness than you usually encountered outside the Lexington city limits. For my taste, this barbecue is superior to that offered at better known BBQ joints in the area, like Gary's, Porky's, and Troutman's. This is pig prepared with care and pride. The service was excellent - friendly, and funny - like Flo and friends. We'll definitely be back.

I had the 1-egg plate with sausage, home fries, and toast. The kids had HUGE pancakes with bacon and hash browns. Very simple, well-cooked food. If I can recall correctly, I don't think anything was over $10-$12 dollars. (Cash only btw! But they have an atm inside) I wish we had places like this in Charleston. Sometimes it's hard to find unpretentious and unassuming places that treat their patrons like family instead of pandering to the tourists or trying to keep up with the trends. I wish the place was closer but...it gave me all of the nostalgia and the feeling of comfort away from home.

Since we were craving Mexican cuisine, this was the closest available option and it didn't disappoint. The restaurant is spacious with plenty of private parking, tucked right into the Sam's Club shopping center. We were seated on the right side in the bar area. Service took a few minutes to get going, and there was a bit of a language barrier during ordering, but everything ultimately went smoothly. I ordered the Combination of carne, pollo y camarón (steak, chicken, shrimp). For $20, I expected a standard entrée but what arrived was a massive plate of food. Truly huge! I even snapped a photo because the serving size, and the plate itself, was so impressive. And the quality matched the quantity. The steak was tender, the chicken juicy, and the shrimp perfectly grilled. Every bite was excellent! We also enjoyed a couple of cocktails, which were both delicious and surprisingly strong. Not always a plus but it wasn't entirely strong that we couldn't drink them. Overall, Mar y Tierra was a pleasant surprise and delivered great food, drinks, and lots of value. I would definitely visit again!

The menu is unique and had some very interesting looking dishes. we both had fish. My wife had the Filete a la Plancha and I had Pargo a la Diabla. Both were excellent. I would thoroughly recommend this place to anyone interested in something different to the usual Tex Mex fare that is found all over the USA masquerading as 'Mexican'
