We went to Towel City Tavern on a Friday night before a ballgame. The place was packed (beautiful night + busy game), but we were seated right away--bonus points for getting an outdoor table with a view of the ballpark. It was awesome eating while hearing the sounds of the game and warmups in the background. We each had a beer, which was really good. Service was excellent all night. I ordered the wings--flavor was solid, though they were a bit too crispy for my taste. The Cheerwine sauce was good, but I personally would have liked it a little sweeter. The fried green tomato caprese was absolutely delicious, and the dip tray was also a hit--especially the guac and pimento cheese. Overall, great atmosphere, solid food, and a perfect pre-game spot with a view!

We have been waiting a long time to visit Towel City and we enjoyed our first visit. We came for lunch on a Wednesday afternoon. We arrived at opening and chose to sit outside. The awesome hostess sat us at the best table to get a view of the baseball game. They provide complementary hushpuppies, which were warm and delicious. We all ordered the Wednesday Lunch Special, Pulled Chicken Sandwiches. The special includes a side and a drink for just $10. I chose the Mac N Cheese for my side and the classic Sweet Tea. The meal was just ok. The sandwich was a pretty dry, so I had to add bunch of barbecue sauce. The Mac n Cheese was pretty basic, nothing special. The service was good and the restaurant, including the restroom, was clean. They offer a different lunch special every weekday, so I would be open to trying again.

We had an ok, but weird experience here. This restaurant is attached to the ballpark and gets pretty busy during games. This was our first time here and we wanted to check out a full service food option before the game started so we stopped here. Getting a seat was weird because they automatically made us sit upstairs outside even though there were several open tables downstairs inside. The reason they gave us just didn't make any sense. We went upstairs and ordered from the bartender up there. We waited a little for food, but not too long considering. Once our food came out one person in our group was missing a lot. They did correct it by just remaking it and bringing it over to us. The food wasn't too bad. I might try them again if we go back and maybe it'll be a slightly better experience.

Great spot! We stopped in for apps before the cannon ballers games and was able to sit on the patio so we didn't miss any pre game festivities. We ordered wings with chwerwine bbq sauce, fried green tomatoes, the dip trio, and beers. It was all delicious but the guac was the star! Beers were good and service was prompt!

What a cute place! Bar, Burgers, Dressed Pork Butt ... ok why not! Ha! Let me start with the Dip Trio! Smoked crab, benedictine, and pimento cheese. Accompanied with a side of hot honey, house pickles, and grilled bread. Everything in this trio I could eat over and over except the Benedictine. It's like it doesn't really go with the others. Remember the show which one of these things don't belong? Yeah, the Benedictine. But when I tell you that bread, with the pimento cheese and honey; they had me right there! Now that Tavern Burger should be outlawed! It's so tender & juicy. Really it's incredible. It's a good size portion too so don't eat too many appetizers or else you will have to take half the sandwich home like I did. It did reheat nicely in the air fryer but not like having it good and fresh. All in all, such a great spot! They also have a large area upstairs that you can rent for large parties. Such a fantastic addition to downtown. Oh did I tell you it also overlooks the ballpark?! Love it! Make the drive into downtown Kannapolis, park and enjoy the meal and the walk after. They have the cutest swings across from the restaurant!

Salmon had bones in it. Rice was hard and crunchy, vegetables was a whole onion cut into 4ths. Never leave reviews but this place was awful.

Our visit here was on a Thursday evening in July. We have been to this area several times, but never visited Old Armor until this trip. Typically, we find ourselves here in the mornings when it is not open. However, since we already had dinner and were looking for something else to do downtown at night, we stopped in for a drink. It appeared to be one of the few businesses open around 10 PM. As stated, this is located in the heart of downtown Kannapolis. There is street parking nearby, as well as parking garages. I do not believe Old Armor has their own dedicated parking lot. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that this establishment is dog friendly! We had our dog with us, and were happy that he could come inside and join us. This was actually part of the reason we chose to visit here, since we could bring him inside with us. We actually saw a few other dogs in the building when we first got there. The ambiance here was quite lively during our visit. It was line dancing night, so the entire front of the place was cleared out and full of dancers both young and old. There were a lot of patrons when we visited, but not so many that it was overcrowded. It was darker with some accent lighting and disco balls, which perfectly fit the vibe for the evening. To the left of the front door was an area with tables and chairs for those not dancing. There were also some cocktail tables around, along with more tables in the rear, and outdoor seating. This is a large space, and would have plenty of room for any size party coming in. Several TVs that were playing various sporting events hung around the perimeter. The bar was located near the middle of the establishment. Due to the dancing, we took our beers outside and enjoyed them in the outdoor seating. It was a nice night, and the outdoor space is a good setup. There was a satellite bar setup out there, but it was not in operation the night we visited. The wait staff at the bar were very friendly and helpful when we were ordering. We were able to sample any of the beers on tap before committing to a glass. I ended up ordering the Red Leg Corn Lager, and my fiancé ordered the Mango Tango Bravo. I personally had never had a corn lager before, but it was nice and crisp, and something I really enjoyed! Something I really admired about this business was their commitment to the armed forces, police, fire, and other essential responders and personnel. They had a pay-it-forward board for them, along with nods to those groups in both the theming and the beer imagery. We very much enjoyed our first visit to Old Armor. The beers were good, the staff were friendly, the atmosphere was exciting and the patrons of the place were all very nice. This is a great spot in the heart of Kannapolis to enjoy a drink and take in the atmosphere of downtown. We will definitely be returning on our future trips to the area!

There was a beard competition in process when we arrived, so it was a but chaotic walking in because it was being held near the front entrance. Most of our group had the Charlotte Hornets Stinger Ale - $3 a can, but they had a large variety of beers. They are focused on honoring honor veterans and first responders , which is evident throughout place. They are located across from Kannapolis Cannon Ballers Atrium Health field. We ordered some food, which was a bit confusing at first. There is a kiosk in the corner, you place and pay for your order and you receive a text when it is ready. We split a Protein Bowl, which was better than we anticipated. It was packed with rice, lettuce and beans. It also had a significant amount grilled chicken drizzled with avocado lime crema. Everything was good and definitely worth stopping in.

We decided on the their appetizer sampler just to get a feel for their food, and it wasn't a great feel. The wings were burnt, Maybe that's their "style" but it didn't work. They were so dry. Indeed, if the cold North runs through you veins, you'll find house beer and mead aplenty to wet your whistle in an atmosphere that while housed in a modern shopping center, is still somehow appropos. Unfortunately, I had driving to do, so alcohol wasn't in the cards, but the menu appealed to us. We needed some comfort food, so we ended up with an appetizer sampler that included a baked pretzel, jalapeno poppers (instead of the fried ravioli that I guess they were out of), buffalo wings, and mozz sticks. We also got a pizza from the current specials, the spicy hawaiin. We like pineapple on pizza, and definitely prefer pepperoni to ham, and this also included jalapenos... so it sounded right up our alley. FYI, there are no waiters, you simply order at the bar, and they give you a numbered buzzer to pick up your food when ready. I greatly prefer this way of doing things honestly. For the food, honestly... a mixed bag, hence the one star off. The pretzel was great, probably the best of the bunch. Jalapeno poppers were nice and large, good flavor balance of cream cheese and jalapeno. Mozz sticks were mozz sticks. We didn't care for the wings. For one, they weren't tossed in the buffalo sauce, it was just poured over the top, and they also were a tad dry... maybe fried too long. The pizza was a letdown, especially since other reviews were so complimentary of it. The slices were very floppy, it maybe could have used a couple minutes more. The cheese had a nice flavor, but the sauce was not either of our preference. Could have used more pineapple, less jalapeno to balance the bites. Overall, we didn't finish it, and didn't take the leftovers for later. It could just be our personal tastes, so go and decide for yourself. Outside of food, it was trivia night, and people were having a great time. We would have taken part if we were staying longer. I think if I lived in the area, I would still come here, and just figure out what food items are the ones to get and which ones aren't. Great atmosphere, friendly bartender and people.
