I highly recommend doing her 1-hour headshot wardrobe prep session. She is there on shoot day as well to assist. David lets you look at the shots as you go, so you can make sure you like your look, lighting and the background. He also talks you through the shoot, giving you prompts to ensure you get a variety of expressions for every look. I highly recommend him!

Paul's website makes clear how little wiggle room he leaves at every stage of the process for feedback, or grace for any point of dissatisfaction. * Note: the original photo files alone are available for only a few weeks until he charges yet another high fee just to download! No reshoots. No retouches. No refunds. And I am left without access to ANY photos...even if I wanted to have just for personal use. I knew less than midway through my session that I made the wrong decision, and felt so soured and trapped by the investment I had already made. Also rushed - sandwiched between two actors also running over time. Even though I was able to get an idea of how the photos were looking midshoot, other photographers I've worked with scheduled shoots in such a way as to leave ample time and space at the end to browse through with more care... The makeup artist was friendly, but she was subbing for the one who normally works in studio and did not have the instincts nor offer the guiding presence during the shoot that I expected, given what I paid. I came hair ready, but the website says "They will help you fine-tune your hair, watch for flyaways..." - I did not experience any of that, and realized only after the shoot was over, that a simple comb through would have been well advised. *sigh* Lastly, I would have benefitted from better communication regarding the realities of timing and scheduling the shoot around natural light. It was Paul's use of natural light in the photos on his website that made me choose him in the first place...But I could already see from the screen mid-shoot that what I had hoped for and visualized was not coming through.

I was having 3 looks done for $745. The session lasted for 4 hours where I felt trapped and unconscious. Not just the weird poses but also the non interest in me. There was no guidance except for "don't do that, it's ugly". I couldn't wait to get out of there. Still had hopes for the pictures though having had such great ones in the past. When I got the pictures the disappointment was complete. There wasn't a single picture I could use. The lighting was flat or too dark ( he calls it dramatic). The makeup was so uneven. In some photos I had a weird green tint to my face. I look heavier than I am in many of the pictures. And I looked how I had felt, uncomfortable. The best picture was on par with his worst last time. I did contact Paul to get my money refunded after I can't use any of the pictures. He got back to me pretty much telling me I was wrong and that he could do a reshoot. I let him know I don't feel comfortable doing that. No answer. I feel a reshoot would be absolutely useless. It would be like going back to a restaurant you got food poisoning at.

I brought a friend along and I can't thank the two of them enough! I always feel awkward taking headshots and Paul was very patient with me and made me feel extremely comfortable. He also retouched two photos with the links he sent and I was absolutely blown away by the best headshot of myself that I've ever seen in my life. He is the BEST VALUE headshot photographer for his price range, which is quite reasonable. He covers 3 looks in his basic package, and additional looks are at a nominal fee. If you're not looking to go the Bjoern Kommerell / Dana Patrick / Theo and Juliet route of $$$$$$$, but you want to have headshots that can fool people into thinking you spent at least $$$$, when really you only spent $$, I truly cannot think of anyone else who gets the job done CONSISTENTLY. There are some inexpensive photographers who get lucky with a few shots out of your 200 images, but the rest end up looking amateur. With John, you WILL get usable shots in at least a couple different looks! For women, I do recommend bringing your own Hair/Makeup Person, as I feel that this prevents so much extra work on the back end of retouching flyaway hairs or having things be off. It is always great to, at minimum, bring a friend with a detailed eye to watch your hair or fix your blouse when it is askew- as this can ruin otherwise great shots. It is worth the investment. I cannot recall if he has a H/MU person he consistently uses in the way that other photographers have 2 that they circulate. I brought my own H/MU both times I shot with him. I will continue to shortlist him for anyone spending less than $350 for Headshots. You get at least $350 looking headshots from him for FAR less. The only other place I have seen do good work in this range is OG Photography - but they only have a low priced package that rivals JBC every couple months when they do a "special" on a certain day -- and there are certain age ranges/types that I don't feel they are consistent with -- though they KILL at other types. JBC is someone you know you can get: -Multiple Looks -Professional Shots -Efficiency -LOW PRICE/HIGH VALUE

But this guy right here, he's an actor's dream come true. Here's why: 1. He's an actor himself. This matters because he knows what works and what doesn't. He also knows how to speak to us. This was especially important to me because I take a longer to ease in and my best shots are usually my last. 3. He's meticulous. From the lighting, to your hair, makeup and wardrobe.
