I do not usually write negative reviews, but I was blown away by how awful Paul Davis Restoration was. Based on my experience, they should have never been USAA's preferred vendor. I am mainly writing this review in hopes it helps someone else avoid the stress and aggravation I went through. I know it is long but if you are considering this company, it is worth the read. We had a water leak in our upstairs bathroom that damaged the bathroom flooring, ceiling sheetrock and flooring below. We filed a claim with USAA to have it fixed and went with Paul Davis Restoration as they were a USAA preferred vendor. It was a job that could have been done in a couple of weeks; however, it got stretched out over 6 months. Paul Davis assigned a project manager to us as our sole point of contact. There was a HUGE problem with communication throughout this whole process as well as issues with most of the contractors they sent. When we tried to get in contact with our project manager, she never called back. Once it took 3 weeks and multiple messages to finally get in contact with her. We even had to call the main number a couple times and requested they get ahold of her because there were time sensitive issues that needed to be addressed. There appeared to be absolutely no communication between Paul Davis and their contractors. Not one showed up knowing what needed to be completed. They would ask me if they were supposed to do certain things; for example, "am I doing the baseboards or is someone else?" Jobs that the insurance company paid for never got completed. One of them was because they did not send enough people to do it. For example, our large bathroom mirror was supposed to be taken down and painted behind. The job required 2 people to remove it, but only one person was sent, so it was not removed. I mentioned it to our project manager, but she never sent anyone out. The worst example was when they came to refinish our hardwood floors. As we could not be in the house while the floors were being refinished, I had a long conversation with our project manager about removing the kitchen appliances, and that our cat would be staying in our laundry/mud room while they were working. When the contactors arrived, they informed us they do not move appliances and that they would have needed to be removed beforehand. Furthermore, they also told us they needed access to the laundry room where our cat was. The previous conversation I had with our Project Manager was never communicated to them, and she never arranged for anyone else to move the appliances. I asked them if they spoke with our project manager and they said, "yes, and all we were given was a piece of paper with your address on it." Talking with them, they assured us that leaving the appliances in place would be preferable anyway and that there would be no discernable lines from the stain around them, so we agreed to let them continue with the job. When they were done, we came home and found all sorts of debris stuck under the sealant throughout the floor, corners missed and rough edges. Additionally, there were large unstained spots around the appliances like we had initially feared. They had to come back and redo the whole floor. They came back 3 more times after that to fix the floor, the major issue being the lines around the appliances. They did not have the equipment needed to pull the refrigerator out without damaging it and our project manager never arranged for anyone to come move it while the floor was getting fixed to get the job done right. I finally had to get our insurance company involved and show them the pictures of what had been done. My adjuster had to call Paul Davis, on my behalf, to get it fixed. My adjuster had to call several times throughout the course of this project to get jobs completed. I requested another hardwood company to finish the job because our current one was unable to fix it but Paul Davis denied the request. The project manager finally arranged to have someone come out with an airsled and move the refrigerator. They had to use a prybar to pry the refrigerator from the floor because the hardwood company sealed the feet to the floor. They also got sealer all over the bottom of my stainless-steel oven, which is noticeable and will not come off. While the contactors were nice about coming back multiple times, their work was sloppy and there was no attention to detail. There were still things that needed to be fixed when I stopped having the floor contractors come back, but I lost confidence in their ability to do a satisfactory job. I will have to live with cracks between a few boards, a corner that got missed, and a line around my oven. Another issue we had was with the person who installed the flooring in our upstairs bathroom. He damaged the walls and ceiling when bringing the supplies inside. The toilet was also installed incorrectly. It took Paul Davis a month to send a plumber out to fix it. read more

They use inferior sub-contractors, do not schedule work within a reasonable time frame and don't really care. Please don't make my mistake. Do not feel pressured by your insurance company to use them at all. And fire them if you already have. read more

If you want prompt, professional and competent work done to repair water damage, look elsewhere. I contacted Paul Davis restoration of Bremerton because I had a roof leak that I did not discover for several months due to being on deployment, and when I returned I discovered water damage and mold in my ceiling. I contacted Paul Davis restoration because they were simply the first business I could get a hold of. They came out to give an estimate and charged 250 dollars, which they said could be put towards the work being done, to my knowledge it was not. It took me several weeks to get my roof repaired and in that time it took numerous attempts at contacting Paul Davis to remove the patch of black mold in my ceiling. The employees that then came to remove the mold were careless and unprofessional, dropping a piece of the contaminated drywall behind a built in cabinet that they then had to tear out to access, creating more work to charge for, in addition to constantly complaining. Once the patch of ceiling was removed, they wasted no time badgering me for payment, which was the only thing that they were consistent on. Then after the roof was repaired, it took several weeks to get another walkthrough done to assess the repairs by the owner John, after which I was told I would be contacted to schedule a time to conduct the reconstruction. I was not contacted for several weeks, so I called them, was told that my case was assigned to a man named Jack, and he would contact me within the week. He did not contact me for several weeks so I reached out again, now that the span of almost 3 months had passed with no action taken towards repairs. When I got a hold of Jack, he told me that they needed to do another walkthrough, which I needed to wait another 2 weeks for, at which point a family emergency required me to be out of state, so my girlfriend had to be home for and took time off of work to attend. Jack did not give us the correct day for the walkthrough, which then required my girlfriend to leave work urgently to let them in. It turned out the second walkthrough was exactly the same as the first because they forgot they did the first one in the months it took me to get them on the job. After this they were unwilling to work with our schedule and expected us to leave a key so they could gain access to the house while we were gone to conduct the repairs. I simply did not trust any employees associated with this company in my home unsupervised after seeing their work firsthand and ended the job with Paul Davis. Their incompetent, inconsistent, and frankly inconsiderate behavior has made a job that should have taken 2 months at most be incomplete after 7 months. I am currently searching for a different company to hire to finish the repairs to my home. read more

Our bathroom has water damage and our insurance USAA recommend Paul Davis to come and do the work. First guy shows up on a Thursday to set up the heater and says I'll see you on Monday. I told him no that the job needs to be worked o. He showed up yesterday with another team member 2 1/2 hours late and was here less than 10 minutes and said they had to leave because of an emergency flooding in a three story building. Made plans for them to come on Monday and just now got a call that they can't make it. This company needs a bigger staff if they are going to accept claims from insurance companies and if I could give zero stars I would. Very disappointed in this company not treating a customer as if they mattered. read more

It's a real shame that I have to write this for this review but this is my second time dealing with Paul Davis and we were referred to them through our insurance company. The first time we had any interaction with them they were great they were professional they got the job done in a timely manner that was back in 2014. This time around it's like a complete amateur show! The communication is poor at best and lackluster customer service. I literally had one of their guys come out today to work on my basement due to water damage and after he was complete with the job instead of coming up and talking to me and letting me know he literally left without even talking to me and Bonnie my project manager went two weeks without contacting me letting me know the status of my job because as she put it she didn't feel like finishing my basement was that much of a priority. I've still got cabinet work that needs to be done in my kitchen at the rate this company works it might be completed by Christmas. read more

What a joke of a contractor! Failed to get multiple permits. Use Joe blow employee to do electrical work. Had to redo my countertops three times and they still aren't right. A project that should've taken less than two months took over six. I finally fired them and glad I did! All of this was done by the owner. Stay away! Use someone else! read more

I hired Paul Davis to do some work on my house. We had water damage so it was a two part process, first a demo and dry out, and then a rebuild. Paul Davis tore up my house three months ago and it is still torn up. It took them weeks after the dry out to get anybody out here to measure for the reconstruction. Then this week they suddenly and abruptly dropped out of the project! Right in the middle! We've been waiting on cabinets 6 weeks already so now with my new contractor I'm going to have to wait again. I paid them $1000 (my deductible) and so now they're entitled to some of that 1000 but not all....it's my first time doing a claim and I don't really understand it...it's a huge mess. I may need to sell soon and so this work needs to be done. Now I feel I've wasted months. My hardwood floor is cut to the subfloor, we have a temporary kitchen sink, no cabinets or counters, and holes in the drywall downstairs. I would NEVER recommend this dishonest company to ANYONE. read more
