Don't listen to all of these reviews if you want a real honest side of it here you go: I'm a 6th…read moregrader currently, and I just honestly want to go. The counselor doesn't even care, my 8th grade brother got 3 detentions for 3 days straight just for being tardy to class 5 times, and my mother told the vice principal that he shouldn't even have those. he doesn't do drugs nor vaping, my mom kept straightening him up and as she walked out he said "Just an FYI we control the street lights, so the children could be late, in the morning". My mother told counselor but all she said was "That's just the rules, I'm sorry sweetheart" like they were playing dirty (which they were). After all that they changed his 3 detentions to 2 detentions. And on top of that the teachers practically, only support the "pretty" girls or the "pick me" girls. And most of the teachers support either white kids or Hispanic kids. And this has right in front of my own eyes. The art teacher smelt something funny, and started coughing. While my black friend was just laughing with her other friend, she doesn't vape nor do drugs. The art teacher gave her the dirty look and called over assistance for a staff member to drop off my friend to the principal's office. The art teacher KNOWS that my friend doesn't vape, she pays attention in class (or else why is she so GOOD at art?) so instead of finding out who it is, she chooses my friend, who is black. And if the skinny girls wear booty shorts or a top that is the size of a bra, they don't get dress coded however if a girl with larger thighs wears perfectly fine shorts: detention! And the really disgusting thing that bugs me is the predo staff supports or gives high fives to the Latin/Spanish/Mexican girls and one time I was wearing shorts the teacher's assistant standed right there behind me the whole class period (1 hour) and he kept hyping me up, saying things like "You got this!" or "Good job!". Please do NOT let your child come to this school, and with all that the school juices kids for money: yearbooks are $50-$60, a super small bag of chips $2, etc. And they also violate the CCSD rules. On their afternoon videos it says "if you buy our $20 beanie, you get it inside!" which is crazy. And to pay to see your child preform on the stage (for the Shrek play) you have to pay money?! Also, the school is not great with bullying, water (the water comes out with dirt), the rooms are going mold (the art teacher got sick, from the mold), the bathrooms are not in good condition, and the A/C doesn't work.*In gym, if you look up there is TONS of visible black mold.(Also if you want to join the cheer team you have to pay a fine for $500, art $25, choir $10-$15.) DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD HERE PLEASE AND THANKS! #My brother got milk that was like cottage cheese.

Principal Gerry Born is the best principal ever! Very attentive and very engaging with both teachers, students and parents. The teachers are spectacular! They really care about educating the children. They make sure they make it a fun environment, so the children feel at ease. Making it easier for them to learn new information. This school seems very advanced and up to date with their teachings and their technology. Since attending this school, I've noticed my child is a bit more advanced on the academic side compared to her other peers that go to regular in person public schools. Nothing against public schools, this school just works out for us as a family. This school uses real life scenarios in their quarterly projects. For example, they need to research about their dream vacation and how much it cost in real time and create a budget, etc. Surprisingly, as parents, after realizing her dream vacation was definitely more doable budget wise, we were able to actually take her on that dream vacation in less than a year's time. It not only teaches the students, but every assignment and project teaches us as parents as well. We highly recommend this charter school.

When we got the letter from the CCSD magnet program that our child was accepted I called and said I wanted her to go to Mabel Hoggard. They said since I didn't apply on time (to Mabel Hoggard) then it was too late and we couldn't get into the school even though we are zoned for it. # 1 We didn't apply at all. Our private kindergarten school applied on our behalf because they have some deal with Jo Mackey to get all the kids a seat even though it is supposed to be a lottery system. #2 When I found out in January that we got into Jo Mackey and Gilbert Elementary I contacted Mabel Hoggard right away. I can't believe they were unable to do anything to allow my daughter to switch magnet schools when they are required to save 25% of the seats for students zoned for that school. Now my daughter is at a subpar school (Jo Mackey with the principal, Kamela Washington, that doesn't give a damn about the students). The CCSD magnet program is corrupt just like everything else in the public school system here.

One of the highlights was the performing arts program. She experienced tremendous growth in both musical theatre and on the competitive dance team, thanks to dedicated teachers who encouraged and challenged her along the way. The middle school teachers were exceptional--supportive, engaging, and genuinely invested in their students' success, both academically and personally. The 8th-grade class trip to Washington, D.C. and New York was another unforgettable experience that created lifelong memories while bringing classroom learning to life. Most importantly, my daughter is leaving Cornerstone feeling confident, well-prepared, and excited for high school. We are grateful for the friendships, experiences, and foundation she built over the past two years. Thank you to the faculty and staff for helping make her middle school years such a positive chapter.

They aren't just there to teach; they genuinely care about the students' overall growth as human beings. They truly live out their motto of building "disciples, scholars, and leaders." We are so grateful to daily send our son to a place where a child's spiritual growth is treated with as much importance as their academic excellence. As a parent, I've always felt like a valued member of the team. The school treats us as partners in shepherding these young minds to become responsible, educated citizens who reflect the character of Jesus. They are also incredibly proactive--whether it's maintaining high standards for social maturity or ensuring top-notch safety with secure systems and their wonderful armed security guards (who are truly a beloved part of the Cornerstone family). They not only look for ways, to make the atmosphere at the school one that kids look forward to entering into, they are always working so hard to do the right thing for the families as they uphold guidelines and high expectations for everyone in the building. They are always striving to improve and are genuinely open to parent feedback to keep everything at the highest level possible. If you are looking for a school that will pour into your child's heart and mind, I highly recommend checking out Cornerstone. We are so grateful for the foundation they've helped our son build.
