There were several things that were critical to me: 1) well maintained aircraft 2) advanced cockpit/glass panel and 3) exceptionally good instruction I found all 3 at Berichi Aviation so I traveled from Virginia to knock out my add-on in short order. I had all the necessary info ahead of time which meant that we were effectively training right away. They searched around for life vests and headsets for me all over the airport and made sure everything was set up when I showed up to get checked out in the airplane. If there are storm clouds or lightening THEY WILL CANCEL ON YOU, as reschedule your flight. Otherwise, this is a 5-star experience. My boyfriend bought me one of the greatest experience: I flew a plane over the Everglades!!! The instructor is all about safety, she is also nonjudgmental and polite. She handled take off and landing, but I got to control everything else. Banking was definitely the best part :D
