Wouldn't recommend Paul to any HVAC work ever!!!!!! Came to my house to repair my heater. Said I needed a new blower motor, said that he might one at the shop, or even in his storage unit. Left with the motor for the evening was supposed to be back at 10:00 am next morning. No show, I called several times, and sent several txted msg. Finally responded at 12:00 saying that he was heading to see if he had one. AT 4:00 pm he responded that he didn't have one and he would have to pick one up from the mfg on Monday morning. He stated that he would be over first thing Monday with a new motor. At 1100 am monday Paul txted saying he had the motor and be over to install. I informed Paul that I contacted another company and my heater was already fixed. He stated no hard feeling, and that their would be no charge for his services. I told him to go f@@K himself!!!!!!! Paul came highly recommended to us as part of our home purchase. We decided to go with his bid because of his price and timely response. The work was supposed to be done 2 days after the house purchase closed. That was April 30th. Since then my husband and I have made several attempts to contact him. On the rare occasion where he actually answered, he made plans to come over and 4 times so far he didn't show nor did he call to explain. The work was paid for 3 months ago as part of the closing costs and he continues to avoid our calls. After 3 months of trying every avenue, we will now be hiring a lawyer to get our money back. Instead of installing the humidifier himself, he sent his "daughter" Crystal to my condo to install an Aprilaire whole house humidifier. Not only did she install it incorrectly (connected the hot water to the intake for the humidifier), but it ended up melting the plastic tubing that she used for the water feed to the unit. This caused a massive water leak in the middle of the night, causing not only 2" of water to leak in my bathroom and laundry, but the water leaked into the unit below me, leaked into my hallway carpeting and into my closet. The damage, after the insurance payment, cost over $1,800. Then I had to also pay for the $328 damage to the unit below. After that, I had to have the humidifier unit replumbed, reinspected and reconnected for almost $300. I should have sued him to get my money back, but since he never would show when I called him for a service call, I bet he wouldn't pay for the damage, since his "daughter" did the install. I feel he is not a person that I would ever do business with again, just because he would never show up when I had problems with the heat and air that he installed in my condo unit. I only again contracted with him because of another plumber's insistence and promise of his work. I was duped and got taken. Think seriously before using this guy. He takes forever to get to a job and will not come out to fix his bad installs. read more

We would HIGHLY recommend Paul Suppes for any HVAC needs you would have. He came and fixed our air conditioner after a 2 year AC debacle. We had quotes from 3 companies and they all said we needed a new compressor (which would be a 3rd compressor in 2 1/2 years). Paul not only said we absolutely did not need that but he fixed our AC and it runs perfectly now. His cost is very reasonable and we plan to have him do annual inspections of furnace, water heater. After an informative telephone conversation, I asked Paul to come over and give me a quote on replacing our furnace. It still works, but is 35 years old. He came and gave me quotes for both an 80% and 95% efficient. While he was here, I found him to be very knowledgeable and pleasant. He also seemed to be extremely honest. He explained that most HVAC companies WAY overcharge for furnace replacement. Then he called a furnace warehouse while I listened in. I found out that a 95% efficient is $1138 (60 BTU) or $1152 (80 BTU). So, of course, anything above that is labor. (Aside: Before I got a quote from Paul, another company had given me a quote for twice the amount of any other quotes I'd received. They told me that if I went with one of the lower companies, I'd be paying for work that was duct-taped. Of course that one went into the round file immediately.) Paul's quote was significantly lower than any of the other quotes I'd received. Basically, his quote for installing a 95% efficient was about the same as I'd gotten from the other companies for the 80% efficient. So, my husband and I decided to go with him. In addition to the fair price, we took into account that he has mostly excellent reviews (although, I did see a red flag having to do with money exchanged and work uncompleted). Paul was headed out on a 2-week vacation. So, I told him we'd like to be put on his work schedule upon his return. He said he'd call as soon as he got back. He never did. I waited for about a week after his return date and then called him. At first he didn't seem to remember me. After we chatted for a minute, he said he had my estimate and we verbally agreed that he would do the install on Oct. 16th or 17th. TODAY IS THE 16TH AND I'VE NOT HEARD A PEEP FROM HIM. And, I suspect I won't. Perhaps Paul--because of his exceptional pricing--is overloaded with work. Perhaps he is unorganized and forgetful. Perhaps he is distracted by some personal crisis. Who knows? I can't imagine why he would come to my house to give me a quote (he even did some extra research on other furnace brands he doesn't normally work with at my request) and agree to do the work on a specified date and then not follow through. It's baffling. At any rate, that's why I'm giving him one star. If by chance he contacts us and follows through, I will change the rating (assuming all goes well). Until then, I guess it's back to the drawing board (*sigh*). I hope I can find an honestly-priced installer who actually shows up. Update as of 10/27: Okay, Paul did call and we scheduled a new date for install. He completed the install last week. So far, it seems to work great. He forgot to bring a receipt, so he said he'll drop it by. Overall experience: Paul is pleasant and knowledgeable and will give you the best price. However, if you are one of those folks who cares WAY more about your time than your money, you may not be satisfied. He is a one-man show. On the day of install, he arrived after 3pm. He got the unit up and running, but had to return another day to finish up some odds and ends. He said he would return the next day, but didn't and didn't call (later explained that he was working on a job in the mountains and didn't have cell reception). He showed the following day and completed the work. This is no biggie for us as I work at home, but could be irritating for someone who had to take time off. (Sorry, Paul, just being honest. Thanks for getting the job done. Don't forget that we need your Excel number for rebate and, according to the Excel website, we need to get a system rebate application from you. Hopefully you are NATE certified.) From Excel website: For 2014 Heating Rebates 1.Purchase and install a new, qualifying furnace or boiler between May 1, 2014, and April 30, 2015. 2.Get your 2014 Heating System Rebate application from your registered contractor. Beginning May 1, 2014, contractors must have at least one NATE Gas Heating certified technician to be registered contractor. 3.Complete and mail the application by July 31, 2015 (include your dated invoice). read more

Wow...what a great person to deal with. My A/C abruptly stopped working on the hottest day of the year so I placed a few phone calls to the other big HVAC services on Yelp like Summit and Dr. Fix it. Summit offered to squeeze me in 3 days later lol and Dr. Fix-it didn't even call me back. Frantic that my family was going to have to suffer through another few days of roasting in our home I placed a call to Paul on Monday morning. He was very nice and stated that he was busy but would try to come by the next morning. To my surprise he showed up a few hours later and he could not have been any nicer. He diagnosed our issue and within 15 minutes he fixed the capacitor that had blown and stayed around to make sure that the refrigerant levels were where they needed to be. He explained everything to my wife and made her feel very comfortable about what he was doing. He even offered us advice because we were using the incorrect air filters for our A/C. What a wonderful person to deal with I'll definitely be looking him up again when I need my furnace or A/C serviced. read more

Paul is a very nice man, but very slow and not responsive to service calls. I had him install a new air system and it took him 8 hours to do it. He was called numerous times for service on the new system, yet he never responded or showed up when he said he would. He is really a nice guy, but definitely on his own time clock. If you want service now (or tomorrow, or next week or eventually 4 months later) he might show up, he might not, he might go on vacation and forget to tell you. If you have all the time in the world to wait, then good luck. He is a nice guy and knowledgeable, just not in any hurry to get the work done.
