I was looking around yelp for a nail salon in El Monte. All the other salons either had reviews about too much cuticle skin being cut off or an infection. Yeah... No thanks. I decided to try out this new place and man it rocks. I came in around 2pm on a Tuesday and it had a couple people. My nail lady was very quiet and tentative to detail when it came to my cuticles. She didn't dig in like other salons and that I liked. Something I found weird was how she rubbed lotion from my hands up all the way to my elbows. It was AWKS because I have hairy Indian arms; the lotion moved my already in place hair in a crazy way. They have a small selection but they have new polishes which is a plus. They have some OPI while others don't have any. Overall, Paula (the owner) was not pushy with up selling products or anything of that sort. They work kind of slow but with precision which is appreciated. Not trying to bash the people who wax their brows here, but it's a pretty fake high arched look. I know I know that sounds mean. I'm just saying most nail salons usually do the typical pick up arch and yeah... Not my taste. I'm more of the bushier the better so don't like that sway your judgement. Just don't post a bad review if you get the brows I mentioned above is all hahaha. I think this is my new go to nail salon. I messed up two finger nails from rushing out the door to practice -sigh- but nonetheless the filing is perf and everyone assumes my nails are fake which they aren't. Idk if that's a compliment or an insult .. I'm sad because she cut my coke nail (long pinky nail that references cocaine use, that I use to pick my boogers with). Talk about hidden gem. I drive by this plaza all the time but never knew it was here. First of all, they have a great color selection. I love that the gel polish had partner polishes so I knew exactly the color I would be getting. Secondly, there's a lot of stations. Lastly, the staff is extremely nice. One thing they are missing, massage chairs and spas.. not sure if I'd get a pedicure here, but I'll definitely be back for a manicure. Price list said UV Gel Manicure for $18, but I got charged $23. Didn't catch my technicians name, but she cut me so deep I probably won't be returning; even for Paula. Came in with a design in mind, and my technician couldn't pull through. Probly won't be coming here for French tips manicure. Paula covered more than a third of my nail making it look so thick and, well, ugly. She worked on my right hand first and put it in the dryer by the time I noticed it was too thick, I mentioned it to her and she said she can't redo it anymore but she'll adjust the left side to thinner tips. In my head I'm like, "then that'll make it uneven." I didn't have the energy to argue with her so I just shrugged whatever. I only went here because of the yelp reviews. Visited Paula's Perfect Nails (it's been there for 2 years) and the experience wasn't short of AWESOME. Everyone is welcoming, professional and they do a great job! I've been getting manis and pedis for about 11 years now, I religiously get them done "every 2 weeks" and I was impressed with their level of customer service. I have gone to the same place out of loyalty (Paula's old working grounds) for the same 11 years. But after yesterday's experience, you can be sure that they have gained a loyal customer. I arrived at 7:25 (pushing their 8pm closing time), I was unsure if they would still take me...after two years of not seeing Paula and Tammy, they STILL new me by name, pretty impressive. It was busy, but they were able to get me started right away. There was people walking in past 8:45 and they were still attending them, of course with a wait time. I recommend having an appointment, but as we all know sometimes even with appointments (unless you're at a place where they take no walk ins) there can be a bit of a delay. They go above and beyond to please their customers :) anyhow, just like any other nail place, there's the exerts! In my opinion, it's Paula and TAMMY! I found Paula through yelp and I'm glad she took me in at the last hour of work! My 21st birthday is this Saturday and I decided to get a manicure (first time too). My friend and I came in at 7 and we had difficulties choosing a color because there are so many beautiful selections! I was getting a gel manicure done by Paula! She's the best! Lied to me about availability! I called before hand to ask what the wait time is if I were to arrive in 15 minutes and they said they are available so I drove there. This nail salon is located in a tiny strip mall next to a gas station-ish. Parking lot is available, but very limited as the spots are all marked for each store there. I got there, there were quite a bit of ppl, but the lady who picked up the phone asked me to pick a color. So here I thought it would be a short 5 minute wait. So I sat and waited..30 minute passes...at this point I was in too deep to get up to leave. I finally got seated, took my shoes off and waited another 15 minutes. I waited a total of 45 minutes before they got started! For a basic mani-pedi, along with waiting time, it took about 2 hours! Way too long! But it does look decent. Like many other reviews have mentioned, this place is not the cleanest. It is kind of dingy. Not to mention, the lady made my finger bleed! I've been a customer here for quite some time now but after Wendy slayed my nails i figured it was time to give them this well deserved review. First off, they're always super friendly. Always greeting anyone as they're walking in the door. I've been to nail shops that have ignored me the first ten mins of being in there, so this is hella crucial. Also they're always willing to fit you in for the day if you really need it. I called ahead asking what time they closed, which was 5pm on a Sunday, i told them Deng that's the time I'm off work and i work a distance away in Alhambra & they told me to go straight after work that they would wait. But I ended up just taking a morning appointment w them the next day. Go in the next day right after they opened, i was the first one there so Holly started on my pedicure right away. I told her my feet were very sensitive & ticklish all the time she did her best to make me feel comfortable, doing the callus scrub underwater so i wouldn't squirm. I was looking at the gel colors as I was waiting for Wendy to start on my fill. Holly noticed how intrigued I was from the chrome colored nails they had to offer but she took initiation and wowed me when she brought out the foil nail options. I was sold! Right when I seen the green foil I knew I had to have it! Wendy started on my nails, both her and Holly kept a good conversation going with me for quite a while. Once Wendy was done w my nails I fell in love! I had never tried the chrome nails and I always liked seeing them on other people but I always held back from getting them because of the limited colors they had. Once I saw so many options of the foiled colors (about 20) I knew I had to try them and I'm so glad I did! When I come back for my next fill, I'll definitely be lookin forward to my new set of foil nails. Very first time I came here I was unimpressed. So idk how they have such a high rating. First off, very dirty. Floors weren't swept. Manicure tables were dirty. Overall doesn't look well kept. Second off, their pedicure ladies suck. I told mine I had an in grown on both toes. Couldn't take it & claimed that she did. Third, I see on the reviews that the husband is good at acrylics so I was excited to try a new place. NOPE. I had gel on my acrylics & he did a HORRIBLE job taking it off. He didn't even give me a fill. All he did was poorly take off the gel, poorly shaped my nails, AND when he was done I noticed that the acrylic remains of him "shaping" were all under my nails. I was very disappointed in this place. Will never cheat on my nail lady ever again. I will continue to go to Lily's Nail Spa next to Bank of America. Her work is 10000000x better & her pedicure ladies always take my in grows out & work fast & always give amazing results. read more

I tipped $5 on a $12 bill and one of the workers has the audacity to start talking shit in Vietnamese about me because I wanted Togo slippers. The cheapie ones that salons usually give for free. Update time: Don't come here in groups. Ever. I thought It would be a good idea to bring my sister here to get pampered before her wedding day. Paula's is the place that nearly ruined it all! For one, I made an appointment well in advance, advising the special occasion was coming soon. I booked for four people, manicures and pedicures. Easy right? While we arrived on time to a packed salon, why were they making us wait and taking walk-ins ahead of us? The bride looked at me in confusion, we were stuck. It was going to be hard to book another nail place close by for four people. I thought we'd be in and out and could go to get our hair done (this was an afternoon nuptial, surely there'd be enough time, right?). Wrong again! We left after nearly waiting an hour! The bride was so upset and I was having to excuse our party from such a terrible experience at Paula's supposedly Perfect Nails. When I told them to cancel (after waiting for so long), they didn't apologize or try to accommodate seeing that the bride was nearly in tears. In tears, you guys! It was so f---ed up, they just said "Sorry to hear, bye!". Bye?!?! Been here a couple of times. Definitely hit or miss. I got a pedi, the girl was finished it within 15 minutes. I felt like she did a crappy job because i didnt want calus remover which i did not even have any calus in the first place. Normally when i come here they put the blue sea salt bacteria but this time all she did was slab some nail polish on my foot and put my sandals on quickly just so she can get me out of there and go on to her next customer. I was so upset because i came in before this customer getting her pedicure and she still left after me. Employees are very inconsistent. Only reason i decided to come here was because they had the message chair but next time ill jus go to a different place message chairs or not. Her polish job Was messy and sloppy. Save your money ladies. This place is horrid! Came here to get pampered with the gals and got the complete opposite. I went with three girls and everything that could go wrong did. First, the design my friend wanted didn't happen. They just gave her a base color even after showing them a picture of what she wanted. Second, all three of us had people who inflicted pain when they were shaping our nails. The manicurists really dug deep to clean it for some reason. After a few clips, I had to ask if I was bleeding. I'm pretty sure 5 out of 10 toes were bleeding for me. This experience was consistent for the other ladies too. Third, the spa treatment there is nonexistent. We were conversating the whole time and I felt like we were friends forever (she would even text me during holidays now to send her blessings). She kept asking if it was ok and ensure that the customer is truly satisfied throughout the process. If you are unhappy in any way, she insists that you tell her and she will do whatever she can to fix it. My acrylic nails last for 3 weeks and I received lots of compliments. I also got my pedicure done and received lots of compliments as well, but I forgot the name of the person who helped me. The lady, who did my pedicure, is friendly and she is also detailed oriented. She was drawing the design on my nail and suddenly she erased it, because she was just not happy with it (I did not even say anything). The outcome was beautiful! The only thing was that she cut the left side of my toe incorrectly, so my left toe was in pain for a week, until I fixed it myself. Paula and her staff would stay late to help their customer too.
