    I was going to a fast food place for breakfast but my stomach wanted BREAKFAST! So I headed to Pauline's instead. I love this place. It has so many little knick knacks that catches your eye. You find yourself looking around every corner to see. The booths are cozy. I was greeted and was told to sit anywhere. I looked over the menu and decided to try the Lumberjack Special. Steak, potatoes, 3 eggs and toast. The coffee is a bottomless cup and my mug was never empty. I received my food and WOW! It should have come with a warning, "Do not eat if you have any plans for the day, because you will need a nap afterwards." The steak was tender and seasoned well, the potatoes are crisp and creamy with lots of onion and bell pepper. I like my eggs over easy and they were perfection, to dip my toast in. I will definitely come back.

    It wasn't bad, so much as incredibly mediocre. I should start by saying the staff is fantastic. Friendly, helpful, and quick to refill your mug with some (bland) coffee. Everyone is great and cheerful. The food. Well, it's ginormous, I'll say that. It's just . . . tasteless and dry. But there's a whole lot of it, more than you can finish. Why does anyone need a FIVE EGG omelette? You don't. The "short stack" of pancakes - usually thought of as a small add on, was three enormous pancakes. And the BF mentioned that they were not only quite . . . mediocre, but *salty*. What? The "famous Pauline's potatoes" are a desultory affair, with a few overcooked red and green peppers thrown in. The eggs are dry and overcooked. MEDIOCRE. Actually, the food would need to improve to be merely mediocre. The bacon was okay, if a bit dry. The syrup container, stuck to the plastic tablecloth. This place used to jam back in the day, and the patio outside in summer is still fun - I just wish the food was better. The interior, I feel, must be mentioned. If you are in any way averse to clutter, kitsch, or extreme *country* interiors, avoid. A ton of stuff haphazardly attached to the walls, mounted badly and crookedly. No apparent plan for a coherent design. Random signs. Weird stuff on the walls - a dustpan. Some sort of warning about giving cows injections? A drop ceiling with all the HVAC and electrical stuff below and visible? The lights at the tables on one side are way too low if you're tall at all. One of the booths, we couldn't stand to sit in, it was so cramped (and we're not particularly large people). I feel like there's a lot of dust in this place, needs the interior blasted out, scrubbed down and reorganized. I likely won't go back anytime soon *sigh*.

    Pauline's an all original mom and pop sitdown restaurant. Twice now i been here for breakfast or lunch and it's always been a hit. The food menu is phenomenal can't go wrong from your basic coffee, pancakes, omelettes and egg benedict options. The service was excellent seated right away for a group of 4 and not busy but picked up as lunchtime came around. Ambiance very mellow and chill it has the feeling of sitting down and having a meal at mom's place.

    Came here for breakfast on a weekday. It didn't look like much upon walking in but was surprisingly homey and a bit strange inside. There're a bunch of trinkets scattered around and art on the walls. Lights were off when we entered the second room which was even more weird. We received our food and I was surprised at how good it was. The corned beef hash was nice because it wasn't fatty or salty and the eggs were cooked correctly. The chocolate pancakes, which my friend had, were amazing but way too rich for the main course. Coffee was pretty good as well. Waiter was attentive and friendly.

    Recently had lunch at Paulines. This cute neighborhood spot is quite adorable! Service is great, menu has lots of options, prices are pretty high for a Grandma's kitchen. Ordered the Rueben sandwich which came with grannies potatoes and soup. Soup and potatoes were very good, The corned beef on the sandwich had a bad smell and color- I only had the soup and potatoes- left the sandwich- Server was great! may go back just to try some pancakes.

    My husband and I are regulars at Pauline's - the food is delicious (I swear by the bread pudding French toast - it's fabulous), the decor is so cute - vintage eclectic which we love (perfect blend of nostalgic and homey), the service is wonderful, and the prices are great for the amount of food. We always have leftovers. I'm baffled by the bad reviews. I highly recommend.

    This is my second time at Pauline's and it did not at all meet my expectations based on the last time I was here. Staff was nice, but not attentive, I wonder if this was because we sat outside this time? But it wasn't too busy and they could have checked in every now and then. Food was pretty mediocre, the sauce for the bread pudding was too tart, the eggs were runny for 'over medium' and the potatoes were pretty soggy. We have been here before and enjoyed it for what it is, but this time was different. The environment is nice and welcoming, I do like how friendly the staff is, but I left disappointed this time.

    What a delicious breakfast spot! My boyfriends is from Chicago so we were in town for Thanksgiving weekend and he took me here after our workout. The perfect way to refuel! I ordered the smoked salmon omelette with crispy potato hash and an English muffin. The omelette was huge- I could only eat about half. It was filled was tasty salmon and feta cheese- yum! My boyfriend ordered French Toast and it was equally delicious and enough to share. I highly recommend this cute diner style neighborhood gem.

    What a cute spot! You boy just turned 35 on April 4, and my homie Kitty wanted to take me out for Brunch, so we checked out Pauline's. The day was beautiful and warm, so we sat outside. Service was swift, and we had two waitresses because one of them was training. I loved the team effort, and I appreciated the woman who was training. I believe her name was Donna asking for help instead of doing something wrong and paying for it later. The interiors are cute and have a super 60s diner vibe right up my alley. This was also my first-day eating meat after two weeks, so I was excited. I got the Steak and eggs with Texas toast. And it was delicious. It came with a side of potatoes, and I ate every last bite. Everything was cooked well. Kitty got pancakes and eggs with a side of sausage, which she also enjoyed Tried her pancakes, which were light and fluffy. We washed everything down with coffee. Overall it was a great experience, and I would love to come back again. 3 1/2 stars

I went for brunch and had the pancakes. To my surprise, the restaurant does not serve standard breakfast meat, so I got a side of pastrami to accompany my pancakes. The pancakes were smaller than I expected, but were fantastically fluffy with a very tasty vanilla sauce. The fruit was all fresh and flavorful, and the pastrami, surprisingly, accompanied the pancakes well. It was a perfectly seasoned and incredibly moist. Would come back to have the actual sandwich. Service was solid, if not a little slow, but everyone we saw was incredibly friendly. All in all, this place is a fantastic addition to Andersonville and I highly recommend you give it a try!

We're not casual diners, and we understand that even excellent restaurants can have an off night. Unfortunately, Atelier was a major miss for us. For more context, we dined at the original Atelier in March 2024 and absolutely loved it, so we came in genuinely excited. First, the positives. The service team was wonderful. Truly lovely people. Delightful, attentive, cheerful, professional, and clearly trying very hard to deliver a great experience. No complaints whatsoever there. The reserve wine pairing was also excellent. Some genuinely unique finds. One rosé in particular made us skeptical when first presented, but it ended up being fascinating and paired beautifully with the dish. In fact, each wine pairing was thoughtfully selected and worked extremely well. Now, the food... and unfortunately, this is where the experience fell apart. The opening four amuse-bouches were flat, boring, and uninspired. The oyster was completely overpowered by fried onion. The "jambalaya" was essentially a bowl of mildly spiced rice. Then a salty muffaletta bite and some pickled vegetables. None of these felt Michelin-worthy, nor did they generate any excitement. The next course, beets, was another miss. They were oddly hard, and again, there was nothing particularly special or memorable about the dish. The kanpachi was very good. But let's be honest, raw fish is hard to screw up. The sauce was nicely done and elevated the dish, but it still didn't feel like a standout moment. The tortellini was fine. Perfectly competent. A salty broth, decent execution... but again, no wow factor. Nothing that made you pause. The walleye itself was excellent. Beautifully cooked. But everything accompanying it felt like it was actively sabotaging the fish. The beans were bizarre. . . some soft, some hard, some crunchy, but none particularly enjoyable. We were told there was cornbread and fermented elements in the dish, but those flavors were completely lost. The smoked duck was very good. No notes. Then came a duck wonton-style preparation, which was also tasty, but structurally this made no sense in the progression of the meal. That should be an appetizer or an earlier supporting course, not the crescendo of the protein sequence. In this style of tasting menu, you expect the protein finale to be something bold and memorable. . . A5 wagyu, quail, lamb, something deeply savory that leaves an impression. Ending that arc with what amounts to a fried wonton felt like going out with a whimper instead of a roar. Desserts didn't recover things. The first was a dry cake. The second, a version of king cake, was slightly better but still entirely forgettable. Then the ambiance. We tend to gravitate toward food-first restaurants with real energy... places like EL Ideas, Schwa, and even the original Atelier. Open kitchens, a sense of movement, a little grit, authenticity, personality. Places where you feel like you're somewhere interesting. This space just felt . . .blah. Wood paneling that gave off a tired 1970s feel, overly understated to the point of feeling generic. Now, sometimes that works if the food absolutely delivers and becomes the focal point. But when the food is average, the room starts feeling average too, and the whole experience just falls flatter. The theme of this menu was: The Crescent City/New Orleans. Maybe other menus here are significantly stronger, and maybe we simply came at the wrong time during an off concept. But based on this experience, this was a big disappointment for us, especially given how much we loved the original Atelier.

Thank you Moe and Team Eden for your kindness. Sometimes we forget how incredibly kind and generous the hospitality community truly is . And as for the food- best ever! I had the Soul and Smoke wood fired ham and cheese melt. Delicious! The Market Burgers are the best in the city! Chef Devon Quinn and his team are outstanding. It's not flashy, it is less busy, and if you don't know... sneeze and you'll miss it. The vibe is dark and moody, with notes of brown and dark blue. The art also fits the overall atmosphere well. I question, however, the large TV screen that seemingly only shows their name. It's not intrusive, just a bit weird. However, it was so dark that seeing the menu was more challenging than it needed to be. I can light it up with my phone, though I do (and did) so at the risk of being 'that guy'. Top-down lighting folks, I see the lamps up there, too! I ordered: - Oysters (4 as-is, 4 with mignonette on the side) - Duck Gnocchi - Sticky Toffee Pudding The oysters were medium-sized and excellent quality! They were delightfully briny and without a hint of cartilage or sand. The first order came with mignonette, and while enjoyable, being a bit of a purist, I put on a second order with mignonette on the side. Sure enough, I found myself adding it of my own accord. All the more evidence the kitchen knows what it's doing! Further proof? The Duck Gnocchi - the gnocchi themselves were soft and pillowy, more so than I've experienced up to this point. The duck in the dish was tender and soft as can be. The veggies (mirepoix) were sliced and cooked perfectly, adding texture, freshness and bulk (fiber?) without overpowering anything. To top it all off, breadcrumbs for a little crunch, and a mild sauce that tied everything together in perfect harmony. For the most important course, dessert, we have the Sticky Toffee pudding. A well cooked, well sauced helping of pudding, topped with a large scoop of ice cream that slowly melted, transforming the flavor as you go. For drinks, I ordered the Charred Boulevardier and the Burnout. The Boulevardier was rich, sweet and savory, in contrast the Burnout was brighter and fresher, and still boozy. While neither drink was a smack to the face with alcohol, after getting up, I could feel the effects. In terms of their service, it was polite and attentive, and all items came out fast! The prices are okay, though if you love oysters, keep in mind they will set you back $4/each! Final verdict: There is nothing at The Good Wolf that I wouldn't happily order again. It is hard to choose a standout when everything was of a high caliber. I look forward to working my way through their menu, and continuing to feed the good wolf (props is you know the story of the Two Wolves).

My waitress (short, dark hair in a bun) just stood around chatting with other employees, wandering around, etc. I think I was the only customer in the dining room, but they just completely ignored me. I finally walked up to the bar and asked to pay for my diet Coke, as I had no intention of waiting around forever to order food. I probably could have just walked out without paying without them even noticing, given how inattentive the employees were, but I'm too honest to do that. I really hope this was just a one-off and that the service overall hasn't gone downhill consistently over the last 6 months or so. But I was super disappointed at how bad the service sucked today, given that there were about 7 times as many employees as there were customers when I went. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, with a diverse crowd enjoying the beautiful day. What really made the experience exceptional was the service. Our waiter was attentive without being overbearing, checking on us regularly to refill our water, see if we wanted another drink, and make sure we were enjoying our meals. He even let us know that if there was anything we didn't like, he'd gladly have it replaced, which showed how much they care about their guests. Overall, Vincent delivered great food, excellent service, and a warm, inviting atmosphere. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and will definitely be coming back. Highly recommended!

Carlos, our waiter, was so knowledgeable and friendly. He clearly has tried everything on the menu and has a deep understanding of flavors and pairings. what not miss - 1. fried artichoke - heavenly, fried to perfection 2. blue cheese + pear dipping - so smokey you'd think there was bacon in it, with the perfect tang of the pear / mustard flavors. (this plate was something I NEVER thought I'd order and enjoy, I'm not a blue cheese fan normally) 3. short rib wellington - I rarely eat meat, but wow it's so tender and the spread in the bowl pairs effortlessly. The pastry on the outside wasn't doing the dish any favors but didn't take away from it either. A small portion for the price so definitely a special occasion plate IMO LGBTQI+ friendly atmosphere. Was not crowded on a Thursday late night. Great prices on small plates + many pour sizes to fit your budget. What I didn't like- Very close to your booth side neighbors with little separation, I would recommend a stand alone table for more intimate dining. Also, I would enjoy it to be a bit darker (yes it was dark already, give me even more) and the music a bit louder. The check came, I gave my card, the check came back with an extra drink on it that they forgot to add before giving me the check. I will absolutely be back!

For an extra $15, it made sense to order the prix fixe menu with the wine pairings. A cocktail likely would have cost more. The soup and salad were delicious and paired perfectly with great wines. We all loved our entrees, although I suspect I loved my short rib wellington a little harder. I'm not a huge desert person but I can't stop thinking about that Nutella creme brulee. Also paired with a great dessert wine-- possibly the only dessert wine I have ever really liked! Yes the portions are a little smaller for restaurant week, but with four courses I was happy to not feel like a glutton at the end. Incredibly thoughtful and knowledgeable service made this a great choice for dinner. The space is well laid out too. We didn't feel like we were sitting on top of people, and it was easy to have a conversation even when the room was pretty full.
