Neighborhood Lawnmower Repair - Cub Cadet riding lawn mower

    Neighborhood Lawnmower Repair

    Madisonville

We brought in our mower that was 2 months out of warranty. It wouldn't start (it had a guaranteed…read moreto start system). We were told the carburetor was clogged. We paid for the repair and tune up, and when we got it back, it was extremely loud, apparently, during the repair he had punctured the muffler. I asked if he would fix it, but he wanted to charge extra to fix the muffler. This was just a month outside of the warranty, and with it. Still being a pretty new lawnmower we were expecting it to be back to new condition after repair Over the summer, it continued to struggle to start, but it would start. Now about six months after the repair, it's not starting, the muffler is still loud and shot, and it almost feels like more damage was done to the lawnmower than was repaired. It looks like we need to pay to get it fixed again, but at this point, we're wondering if we should just buy a new one because of all of the extra damage. Even with the noise canceling headphones the damaged muffler is so loud that it makes it hard to mow having autism spectrum disorder. A part of me has wondered if I even got the right lawn mower back. I'm pretty sure I did, but there were new issues after the repair that didn't exist before.

My walk behind lawn mower had stopped working, and wouldn't start, no matter what I did. I saw…read moregreat reviews for Neighborhood Lawnmower Repair and decided to give them a try. I made the 30 minute drive with my mower to the repair shop. The man I dropped off the lawnmower to was friendly, knowledgeable, and provided me a time frame of at least 3 weeks, which was perfectly understandable. He gave me an estimate of $127-187, mainly from the tune up. He said he would contact me before he added on any parts, which would raise the price. 30 days had passed, and I had left a few messages with him (about day 26-30). Unfortunately, I did not receive a return call. Day 40 arrived and I was getting worried because I could not reach someone at Neighborhood Lawnmower Repair. By this time, I had payed a business to service our lawn about 3-4 times. I called the repair shop and finally received a call back. I was told the mower had received a tune-up and a new carburetor. I did not receive a call about the added part, which would have helped in deciding whether to keep the mower or not. I stopped by to get the mower, and when he tested it, it did work. He apologized, I accepted and left. Although I disliked wasting time and fuel, I also realized he could have just let me leave with a non-functioning lawn mower. The next week, he told me what he did to get it running again, and it would be ready for pick up. I returned and he started up the mower for me. It worked, sounded good and was ready for mowing. That's when I received the hardest hit...$222 and change. That was a HUGE hit, especially when I wasn't informed it would be that high. I payed, took my mower and went on my way. I had did the math: The repair's total was $222 + $180 for lawn service, which equals $402...the price of a good electric mower. The good: Neighborhood Lawn Care knows how to repair, tune-up and recommend lawn mowers. They are an honest company, when it comes to releasing a working/repaired mower. They could have let me leave with a non working mower the first time, but didn't. The bad: Neighborhood Lawn Care suffers from poor communication with customers regarding almost every step of the process. I understand business can be overwhelming, especially when there is a lot to work on. However, good communication will keep people coming back. I didn't know what was going on with my mower for 40 days -- no call and couldn't reach anyone. I was told one price as a variable estimate, only to have a sizably large price increase. When I asked for a possible discount for the non-communication, wasted trip, extremely long wait and sticker shock, I was told that was a discounted price. If you have the time to wait over a month with no communication and the large amount of money to spend on your mower, this is the place for you. They do know how to fix mowers. However, (for me), this just wasn't worth the wasted time, fuel and money.

I explained that I was looking at the Bad Boy Elite with a Kawasaki engine. We discussed pricing and warranty, then even though it was misting out we walked outside and looked at the exact mower I was interested in. I explained that due to a bad back I was looking at comfort more than anything else, they recommended adding an adjustable Suspension Seat. I was very please with the information provided and was even told they offer a lifetime power train warranty as well. I was very pleased with the knowledge of the staff here and would be happy to call them my outdoor power equipment dealer and service center.

When you walk through their doors, you are not just another sale... you are treated right. They have built their reputation over the years as a dependable mower sales and service dealer, and in recent years have stepped confidently into the tractor market... now proudly offering TYM tractors. I had the privilege of purchasing the very first new TYM they sold... and I can tell you point blank, it has been an outstanding experience. TYM is not new to the game. They have been manufacturing tractors for decades and have built equipment for many well-known brands. Since 2010, they have carried their own name... and it shows. These tractors are loaded with features you simply do not find on many competitors in the same class. And here is what truly sets C&C apart... after the already strong 6-year TYM warranty, they back it up with a lifetime powertrain warranty. That level of confidence and commitment speaks volumes. In my humble opinion... you will not be disappointed with either TYM or C&C. If you are in the market, do not hesitate... stop in, talk with them, and see it for yourself.

On top of this, I was told my walk behind would not stay running and needed a new carb. The other walk behind broke 2 pulleys and a belt the first time Inused it so obviously it had not been went over well. Obviously service is not their thing!! Lesson, albeit expensive, learned.

Of those ten times, my tractor/mower was ready when promised ONE time. This year I took it in March 9, and was told it would be ready in "a week and a half." When I called to check March 23 (two weeks later) I was told it had "been assigned to a tech" suggesting it would be done soon. On March 30 I was told it should be done "in the next couple of days." Three days later, April 2, when I called again, they were "just finishing up" and didn't have the paperwork in the office yet, but I could come get it. So, three and a half weeks from the day I left it with them until it was finally ready. If this were unique to 2020 I would dismiss it as an aberration due to COVID-19. However, this has been the rule rather than the exception both before and after the change of ownership. The work seems to have been done well, but it seems expensive, but I would not have complained abut the price had it been ready when promised.

I reached out to BPS to service my Kohler generator. The salesman at that time Jeremy Van Dyne was nice, informative & active in my new account. Then he disappeared. All calls & emails went to voicemail and/or either unanswered or unreturned. Several months later another salesman Alex Abud reaches out following up on my emails apologizing for the delay in responding. He notifies me the previous salesman was terminated but they never discontinued his phone extension or emails & had no knowledge of my messages till today & apologizes. How can a company terminate an employee w/ out ensuring his customers of no service issues including another sales associate. On the phone Alex reviews the original service proposal w/ me which I approve w/ my signature & tells me he'll forward it to the proper people for processing & again apologizes but when I ask for more information he offers nothing. Two weeks passes & no further information. My calls, text messages & emails to Alex go unanswered & unreturned. Third week a call from Abby Cherry in accounts payable comes & asks how I want to pay for the service. I asked what happened to Alex & I'm told that's how they operate now & again how do I want to pay. Credit card is used, digital receipt is offered & received to my email. I requested & got hard copy in the US mail, I was told someone would be in touch about scheduling. Two more weeks passes & nothing. All calls & voicemails to Abby ignored. My frustration reaching a boiling point w/ the lack of communication I reached out to the better business bureau & filed a complaint & submitted the sales receipt for their records. They contacted BPS about the complaint. One week later the service dept reaches out & states they're 2 weeks behind & can fit me in on this date two weeks away, do I want the appointment. I asked why no calls to this point & told that's how we operate now. I took the appointment & asked to be called when tech was enroute to the house. They returned a message to BBB stating they had scheduled me and apologized for any misunderstanding. The technician Doug, didn't call & had no notes regarding it. I expressed my frustration & why. His understanding & customer service was forthcoming & refreshing. He apologized stating I wasn't the only one. His knowledge & service of my generator was/ is impressive & first rate, explained everything he was / is doing in great detail and ensured my satisfaction. This review is being elevated to 2 stars because his field service was first rate & he deserves an honorable mention. The rest of the process was / is infuriating & insulting at best.
