What a disappointment! Dallas Piano Restorations came highly recommended to me and so I entrusted…read moreby my 1898 Bechstein 7' Grand piano for a complete restoration. Not only did the work take a full year longer than anticipated, the results were far from the professional quality I expected for the 25k that was paid to them, plus transportation. The worst area was the exterior case. Wormholes were unfilled, as evidenced by the single coat of lacquer that ran into the holes. Spray was applied over dust on the uncleaned cast iron plate. The keyslip and keybed areas as well as the side moldings were rough from insufficient leveling of finish. Many rough areas were painted without being sufficiently sanded. Vertical cracks can be seen in the veneer on the piano's flat side. The front lid was badly repaired. The ivories were not bleached. The logo was not put on straight. The exterior work is totally unacceptable. The interior fared slightly better, although the soundboard was shimmed so much that its lifespan has been greatly reduced. Stringing was sloppily and unevenly done, which will necessitate a re-stringing. The action was put together but was never regulated and on top of that the hammers themselves were never even shaped. The owner of DPR suggested that I caused these problems. After many complaints on my part, DPR offered to take the piano back to make repairs. But they insisted that I get a certificate of fumigation, did not offer to pay transportation costs, and would not sign a contract with me. These conditions were unacceptable. As a concert pianist who has performed in 29 countries and on 4 continents, I was unhappy with the piano. Paying for another restoration at an equivalent amount is impossible and thus I am forced to take a loss because I cannot sell the piano anywhere near Fair Market Value. I would not further entrust my piano to DPR under these conditions and have lost all confidence in their work and their word.

Run here...fast. They restore older pianos...the old fashioned way, with care and…read morecraftsmanship...something I pray is never lost in this country. They also service...and hold major accounts such as multiple local high schools/universities and their very large bands and orchestras. The unbelievable deals you will find on their restored pianos...amazing. I popped in the other morning and the shop owner was kind enough to let my companion play his heart out on the different pianos and this was greatly appreciated. If I buy a piano...which my goodness I just got a keyboard that I don't use...and I'm seriously considering buying one...I'm coming here. Go, go, go.

Long story short, Empire Floors mislead us regarding moving things around in our house as they…read moreinstalled our hardwood floors, so we frantically needed someone to move our 6' baby grand from the living room to the dining room. Martins was able to give us a 2pm-4pm window (I called at 10am) and quoted $160 each time they had to come over (once to move it to the other room and another time to move it back). I asked if they could work with me on the price if we just left the piano upright for a day or two as the hardwoods cured, but they said price-wise it didn't matter. They called around 12:30pm and said they'd be here in 1.5 hrs (I live off 380/DNT), so I said great. 3 guys showed up and had our piano disassembled and moved within 5 minutes - amazing! They were worth every penny. However, after watching them do their work, I'll probably just get a bunch of friends to help me move the piano back into the other room. It looked relatively simple - just need to be strong! We asked if they did piano repair/maintenance since our brass casters are really worn to hell. They don't, but gave us a number to someone else. They also left us new casters with a double wheel and said when they come back in a few days to put back the piano, they can throw them on for us. How nice! PS, they don't take credit - only cash/check.

Do yourself a favor and find somebody porfessional. They use to be good now they are the worst.
