Nasty attitude! When I entered, there was a handwritten sign on a piece of cardboard that appeared to be falling down and was partially blocked by someone standing next to it, so I did not see it. A skinny white male employee came out from the back room and asked if I had seen the sign. I politely responded that I had not. Instead of explaining the situation professionally, he became aggressive and told me to "get the fuck out of my store." There is no excuse for treating customers with that level of disrespect. Terrible customer service. Everything is priced like a skyrocket for no reason. I would never suggest any MOS visit this place. There are much better options like Brother's Uniform, Meyers Uniform, and many other uniform stores that actually respect their customers. The staff here is rude and unprofessional, and the tailor even messed up my pants. When I brought up the issue, they didn't care to properly fix it. The Employees in the front the young man and the older women are reasonable and understand, however the owner Paul in the back won't even come out to look his customers in the eye. I went to get store credit for some items and he told his employees he " didn't have time for this today and I should come back another day " but when I went to purchase everything he had all the time in the world. On top of this he didn't even give me the full store credit not even half of what I paid for. Good costumer service however everything is majorly over priced for the average quality it offers. They also tried to keep my friends nypd patches after he asked to sow in a replacement for a shirt, just so they can resell them. I graduated the NYPD academy May 6th 2021, I still haven't received my refer coat. I paid for my uniforms in full. Called several times received brush off, Covid was blamed for long delay. On my must recent call before Christmas 2022 I was told jacket would be ready definitely after holidays, all that remained were the buttons had to be sewed on . it's now January 9th still no call. Paul's is terrible , staff is rude they act like they are doing you a favor and couldn't be bothered , it's now 19 months I've been waiting for a refer coat. Over priced crooks....and his brother next to the correction academy is just as bad..I never go to him unless it's for my unit's special patch or patches and even then I hate going to him . Very inconsistent pricing for tailoring and overall pricing is inconsistent and expensive. one minute he charges one thing and for the same item he'll charge something else at a later date then go back down again.. and it also depends who's there and who they like at the moment. Visited Paul's Police Uniforms & Equipt today seeking NYPD uniform item for a TV acting job. After my LE credentials were brought to the back to be reviewed by "The Boss" , the counter employee hands back my creds stating: "we don't do that!" "we don't do nothing for SAG!" I guess being a COP didn't matter! And courtesy was sorely lacking because the Boss didn't even come out to explain to me why this was the case, and I can imagine. It also didn't matter if you are a legitimate COP that happens to be involved in the acting business and that requires a uniform for costume with the RESPECT of wanting to look authentic and not portray the image negatively! Back in the day, I was on the job in Mt Vernon under Chief Mosca, and many a uniform and much gear was bought at Paul's - I guess there are different operators there now. I've purchased from here several times, and the pricing being inconsistent is true. I paid $150 for 2 shirts, pants, patches, ties, and pins, went back on another day and paid almost $200 for 2 pants and a shirt with patches. The younger guy is a nice dude, friendly and helpful. The old guy and the female aren't the friendliest, but aren't the worst either. All in all, if you're on this side of the Bronx, they sew everything on for you, but be prepared to have it steamed/pressed on your own. Again, not the worst, but def not the best. read more

I recently came into the store. Asked the guy a question. The guy gave a jerk answer for no reason. The question I asked was " is there any package deals ? ". Most uniform stores have a package deal like 2 shirts 2 pants for $150. A simple " no " would've been good for me and I would've looked around and maybe still got something. The guy brushed me off and gave an a jerk remark. I stood there for 1 min. Thought to myself like why am I going waste my money on this store, when i can go to any other buff store. I choose my uniform Then I asked about collar pin, they don't have those then I asked when I can get them actually I asked several times cause really need them. Went to the store today to get a badge done for my job n the guy I spoke to was very rude wouldn't even let me explain just put his hand up n kept making excuses to not do it. Please avoid this store. There is 1 stubby, short, disgustingly unfriendly person working there who is so rude that will make you want to walk out. I am white, older, retired NYPD officer who went in there to buy some t-shirts and felt as if he was watching that I wouldn't steal anything from that birdhouse store. Ridiculous.
