Playing technician roulette, wondering who I would get and how rough would it be that day. It was a classic 'I hate the dentist' experience. Then, a friend of my mom's recommended Dr. Nowicki to her. She had her first visit and she told me right after that I would definitely want to go there too. So I decided to switch it up. Such a great decision. I can actually say I enjoy visiting the dentist now, because Dr. Nowicki and his team are not only great at what they do, but they are great people as well. From day one, I've felt very welcomed by Dr. Nowicki's office and similarly to Olive Garden, when you're there you feel like family (you really do). Every technician I've had has been very friendly and provided a great cleaning along with great care advice and answers to my questions. Not only that, but the team will take the time to help you out. During a regular cleaning visit, it was discovered I needed a minor filling. Instead of making me schedule something out, Dr. Nowicki went out of his way to squeeze in the minor filling right then and there for me. Lastly, I'd just like to elaborate on how kind doctor and his team are. I've had great conversations and I truly have received helpful care advice that was not previously provided by my old office or taken the time to be given. So it's the little things like that that let me know I've found my permanent dentist office while I live in the metro Detroit area. His staff welcomed me and were able to fit me in the day after I called since my insurance will be expiring. After a great cleaning experience with Diana, they noticed some cavities and old fillings that needed to be replaced. Dr. Coburn was kind enough to fit me in again on the following day so I can get my insurance coverages worth. First off, his assistant Sam began taking pictures of my mouth so Dr. Coburn can give me a further examination after I would leave and know exactly what was worth following up on. I can't believe how advanced technology has become. He really is hip to it all! He also knew I had a deep fear of getting these fillings but immediately made me feel comfortable. It's the small things like turning the music up, offering nitrous or making sure that the numbing gel before the shot is fully penetrated into your gums. All five fillings were done in one sitting and were completely painless. COMPLETELY PAINLESS! I can say it over and over again. I didn't even feel the shot! I remember as a kid, I would be the same little nervous girl and end up walking out with a smile. It was just repeated all over again, 20 years later. It's the billing office staff that leaves it less than desirable. They ask you, before you leave one appointment, if you want to pay your portion in full for a future scheduled service and offer a 10% discount to entice you to do so. (I'm assuming to try and lock you into using them the next time). I clarified and re-clarified if this would be the full amount I would be responsible for and they clarified and re-clarified that was correct. After the service, you get billed another amount that exceeds 150% of the first amount they charge you (no 10% discount here).... it feels like a bait and switch practice and is at best negligent and deceptive. The worst part is when you confront the incident, the staff only makes excuses and tries to place blame on your insurance company and anyone or anything else but herself. She actually never took ownership. I would not feel comfortable referring anyone to this office, after this incident.

They remember (or keep excellent notes) names of our family members and what we have going on and ask when they see us. They give you a complimentary paraffin wax treatment on your hands during your treatments/cleanings and cover you with a warm blanket. The office is beautiful and clean. Staff is punctual, friendly, skilled, professional, and knowledgeable. Juanita is very personable and sweet. My only real complaint would be that they try to push a lot of extra stuff on you. Juanita Bahroos's husband is also a dentist and they push his services on you during your whole appointment every time. Stuff like whitening, braces, veneers, and extra services to scan for cancer are offered repeatedly. These "extra services" aren't covered by insurance and only claim to be able to detect oral cancer slightly sooner. And there seems to be a new option every 6 months.
