I was blown away by this venue. I can't believe I have lived in the area my entire life and had never been here until an event this year. I attended a bridal shower here in June and it was one of the best if not the best bridal shower I have ever been to, and I have been to many. Everything about this venue was perfect. The parking lot is a bit of a walk to the building, that's the only negative thing I have to say. The place is absolutely beautiful. Wooden structures inside overlooking the boardwalk with large windows, I mean I can't say enough about how beautiful a setting it was. The food for the shower was fantastic. Omelette station, standard brunch fare, all delicious. Tomato, mozzarella and basil, cheese and meat boards, delicious vegetables and fruit, I was wow-ed. The staff was phenomenal, coffee was literally insane. I couldn't believe how good the coffee was so I went up to a worker and asked what they use. He came back and said, "Folgers." I kid you not. I was so embarrassed but also went to Stop and Shop after I left the shower and bought a big thing of Folgers coffee because it's SO DARN GOOD. It was somewhat of a windy day so we stayed inside most of the time except for photos where we went outside onto the boardwalk and had a beautiful view of the beach. I attribute so much of this fantastic shower to the people who put it together as they brought a donut wall and had a make your own flower bouquet station and so on and so forth but the venue itself and the staff and the clean huge bathrooms were a 10/10. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking to have an event. read more

They lost the contract with the state and had to find another venue for us inside their organization 6 months after booking.

The idea is great being right on the water but the space is a bit small for the group I was with. There was some seating outdoors under a tent and some indoors with the buffet setup outdoors under a tent as well. With all the foot traffic in and out it was quite steamy inside and there were a bunch of beach flies buzzing about as well. The food we had was good. The line was so long to get to the buffet though and once we were up there several trays were running low so we didn't really eat a whole lot; more like sampled. They were very short staffed. Our water glasses were never once refilled and it took a real long time before the dinner plates were cleared. If considering a wedding at this venue it would need to be a smaller sized crowd with wait staff proportionate to the number of guests because ours was not. There's also very little room for a dance floor. The pathway from the parking lot to the venue is not lit either so it was very difficult to see at the end of the night heading back to our cars and it's a decent walk in the dark. We came here for a wedding recently. The location on the Sound is beautiful; even in cloudy weather. The layout works well for any type of event. I don't know if the Pavilion also handles the catering for the event, but here was the one issue. Of the ten people at our table, eight ordered steak, one ordered chicken, and one (me) ordered salmon. I don't know how the chicken turned out, but my salmon was AMAZING. However, ALL of the steaks came out medium well even though everyone ordered medium rare. It appears that the kitchen didn't really care too much about the requested cooking temperature of the steaks; you got medium well whether you wanted it or not. Our server was very friendly. This afternoon, we had a Celebration of Life for our son at The Pavilion at Sunken Meadow. My wife and I are so happy to have chosen The Pavilion at Sunken Meadow. Tarek ( General Manager ) and his entire staff have been absolutely wonderful from our first phone call until we left there this evening. We were able to put together a beautiful lunch for 140 friends and family who all mentioned how delicious the food was and how attentive the staff was. My husband and I had our wedding at the Pavilion at Sunken Meadow on 7/6/24 and we cannot say enough incredible things about this venue. From our initial tour of the venue to our wedding day, Tarek was there to address every question and concern and to make sure the planning process was going smoothly. We did the package (which included the DJ, photographer, florist, transportation, and cake) which made planning so much easier and we and were so happy with each and every vendor. On the actual wedding day, Sabrina (our bridal attendant) and Anthony (our maitre d') took care of us completely. Sabrina did everything from serving lunch in the bridal suite, to finding and setting up a speaker for getting ready music, to helping me with my (complicated) bustle, to getting my new-husband and I hors d'oeuvres from the cocktail our in the bridal suite immediately after the ceremony, to making sure we actually ate our dinners during the reception, and so so much more. Anthony made sure the entire event ran smoothly and was there for us with whatever we (and our families) needed. The venue itself was beyond beautiful. We absolutely loved our beachfront ceremony and the floor-to-ceiling windows that gave us incredible views of the Long Island Sound all night. Our guests loved being able to make use of the outdoor boardwalk area throughout the reception. The food from the cocktail hour and the main dinner were both so good (and we got compliments from our guests about how good the food was)! I attended a summer wedding at the pavilion. It has a beautiful beachfront and boardwalk that was roped off from the rest of Sunken Meadow State Park and the pavilion itself has a tent for dancing and cocktail hour and another for food alongside the building. The service was great as well as the open bar but it's the location that really makes this place with a beautiful sunset on the beach right after diner. The food ranges in quality and is was what you might expect for a wedding but the wedding ceremony on the beach with the reception in the pavilion was terrific. The location and service lean the rating from 3 stars to 4 stars. read more

My daughter just had her wedding here and it was magical!! This is such a beautiful venue. Literally everything was perfect. The food was outstanding (we have chefs in the family -- they concurred!), the staff was flawless (thank you Tarek, Dave, Helen, Maureen and everyone), and the place is so lovely. The Pavilion has floor to ceiling glass on 3 sides giving view to the beautiful surrounding nature. So much nicer than a stuffy wedding factory! Truly the best version of simple and elegant. What a beautiful wedding we attended at the Pavillion at Sunken Meadow! The staff and service was top notch and the food was incredible! The ceremony was on the beach and every detail was beautiful from the welcome champagne to the chair setup and the runner and ceremony arch, All touches were put in place on the beach at the last moment while we hoped for the best weather and it was beautiful. The cocktail hour had abundant and delicious food and drinks served to us by friendly accommodating professionals. They kept up with the table clearing during cocktail hour which is so important. Especially because everyone wanted to try everything! The bar was well stocked and staffed. The dinner and decor was incredible all with a priceless view in the background of Long Island Sound. I had my daughter's bridal shower at the Pavilion at Sunken Meadow. I can't say enough positive things about the whole experience. Working with Nicole, the event manager, planing the event was a dream. She made sure the shower was everything I hoped it would be. The Pavilion staff, led by Helen, our Maitre 'D were simply fantastic! Any request was quickly honored and they all went above and beyond to make sure my guests were well taken care of. The brunch food was delicious as was the cake, pastries and cookies. My guests were raving about the chef's talents! And the venue setting was beautiful, especially because we had a beach theme. We had booked with the Pavilion for August 2020. It was the first and last venue we looked at because we fell in love the moment we saw it. It's such a gorgeous venue with an amazing view! Most of the time leading up to our wedding (prior to COVID) we had been dealing with Nicole, who was super sweet. I drove her nuts with questions but she always answered them promptly and professionally. After COVID hit, we were still holding out to see if things would get better before our wedding. We spoke with T and Ray a lot on this issue. They were both so patient and kept us informed about what was going on. T was especially understanding, being that he also had his own wedding planned for April 2020. Unfortunately, in July we were forced to make the decision to cancel our wedding as well. We decided against rescheduling and we were refunded in full without hesitation. I have heard of quite a few venues giving a hard time so we are truly grateful we chose this venue. I recently went here for a wedding. The pavilion itself is a little small, but does have AC with open windows to see the beautiful beach. It is located on the boardwalk of the beach which is very nice. However, service is awful. The DJ can't get into the reception room because of the space so limited. Thus, the DJ is playing music in another room. The worse though was the food. The food was awful. I had to return my wife's meat three times because they couldn't get it to medium-well. Each time it was still bleeding. Then when it came to me and a friend, we were vegetarians. They told us about a pasta primavera dish for us. When we got served, they gave us a giant mushroom. When inquiring about that, the waiter went "you had stepped out, so I assumed mushroom was a good alternative to pasta."After getting a manager, we got no apology and was just given pasta with watery sauce. Also all portions are tiny. The desserts such as cakes and canolis also lacked flavor. Nice idea here, but unless you just want to be by water, I would avoid this place. read more
