My wife and I have gone to three different dog trainers, and we think Alden has been the best dog trainer so far! We HIGHLY Recommend this guy! Firstly this guy knows dogs! He understands what works for different kinds of doggos and their personalities. He also is super nice, friendly, and helpful when you are working with him. You can tell he loves what he does. He knows why things work or don't work in dog training and why one trainer or place my recommend one thing vs why it might be different for your doggo. We have a large doggy named Milo and he kept nipping and jumping on people. Play biting and jumping for bigger dogs is difficult because we have older parents and his jumping and nipping could hurt them. We also have a newborn baby we were worried that our doggo would be rough with him since he kept rough playing, nipping/biting, and jumping on us. HOWEVER, with Alden's support we saw a sudden and quick decrease in our doggos behaviors. To all you dog owners out there looking for good and well-rounded training THIS IS THE GUY! Alden is very honest and even though we pushed for possibly doing boarding 2-week training he told us our doggo didn't need it and didn't want to push it on us. I adopted a dog from the shelter about a month and a half ago and he's had terrible separation anxiety. He would break and chew through leashes, walls, doors, and metal crates. With my work schedule, it was just impossible to keep a consistent training schedule for him so I looked for training and boarding places on Yelp and stumbled upon Alden. He informed me with separation anxiety, it's more so habitual and my dog just needs to get use to the schedule. Alden was able to make time and come in for a (free) consultation the same day and within hours! He met my dog, brought treats and suggested to just crate train him as that seemed most plausible and realistic. He recommended me which crate and I bought the same one later that day. He also did not recommend boarding for separation anxiety as my pup would need to get use to me leaving and not anyone else. After trying to crate train him in the new crate, my pup broke off a piece of the crate and also vomited all over the crate. I was honestly at my wit's end so I reached out again to Alden for board and crate training. He got back to me with his schedule in a timely manner and was able to take him for 6 days to try it out. Upon taking him, he sent me daily updates and pictures! After about 2 days, Alden told me there has been a lot of progress and he didn't feel my pup needed to be boarded for the full 6 days and he taught me all I needed to do to continue to training process. He dropped him back off to me the next day and only charged me for the 2ish days of board and train. Overall, all my interactions with Alden were positive and I really recommend him! I appreciate the fact he didn't take my dog for the whole duration and was honest as to why and was very ethical with the matter. He's been professional yet casual the whole time so it didn't feel like I was like talking to a know it all judgey expert or anything, just like a friend with expertise in the area. Im still currently training my pup and there's been lots of progress from the very beginning before training to now. My rescue, Leo, did 2 weeks of board and train and one week of additional boarding. Before he went, Leo only knew sit and he had high anxiety. After two weeks, Leo knows about 7-8 basic commands like paw, down, house, place, wait, and etc. I am happy with the result. What I appreciated the most about Alden is transparency and communication. He is very honest and transparent with the process and his training style, in which is positive reinforcement. Leo will be returning every 3-4 months for reminder trainings and for boarding from time to time. Based upon the two weeks results, I am impressed how fast he learned and how well he was able to retain them! Leo definitely looked happy when I picked him up and was well taken care of. Alden will send you daily photos/videos of how your dog is doing and keep you up to date. He has cameras in the house so even if he's away for abit he can see how your dog is doing. Kira, Alden's dog, was an amazing company and buddy to Leo. I felt more comfy sending Leo knowing he wasn't going to be alone. Alden is also great at explaining why Leo is the way he is aka high anxiety or why he just reacts or gets scared easily. I saw Alden's flyer at our local dog park and contacted him for help with our black lab puppy. We needed help with correcting some behaviors and getting her to consistently follow basic commands. Alden helped us with a board/train option. We got regular updates on her progress and still have her Report Card on the fridge. Alden help her settle in place, not tug on the leash during walks, not jump on people who came to visit and trained us in how to support her and be consistent with commands. Alden is an amazing trainer and his boarding services are the best I've found for my dog so much so that I travel 30 minutes to use his services! I first sent my dog to him for training when she was 6 months old right after I adopted her. She stayed with him for one week and in that time learned 10 commands. Beforehand he went over the commands I wanted her to learn and let me customize the words to what felt natural for me. For example, I "down" felt more natural to me than "lay" and therefore he also used "off" instead of "down" for if she jumped on something. He will send you progress updates and pictures throughout the training which can be so exciting. After the training session he went through each command with me multiple times to make sure I was comfortable with them and my dog understood to listen to me. I also boarded my dog with him for 10 days at a different time. With Alden you know your dog is welcomed into and becomes a part of his household for their stay. My dog got one on one attention with him, got to play with his dog, and reinforced her training. I know she isn't just put in a room and feed with Alden but is actually cared for. I took my older toy poodle, NuNu, to Alden for a refresher on basics like sit/stay/leave/etc. She hasn't really listened to me for a while given the lack of reinforcement over the last few years. Nunu stayed with Alden for two weeks for an intensive training crash course. When I picked Nunu up, she seemed super happy and upbeat, which is a great indicator of great care. From a results perspective, Nunu is quick to react to both verbal and visual commands now! I'm very (very) happy with the service/training provided by Alden and I'll definitely be going back again (for Nunu and future puppers)!
