Of you are a gamer this is your place. If you are a D&D gamer this is your home away from home. Great seating for large groups intent to get together for a game night with a full wall of games to choose from or bring your own. Drink menu is basic with a full bar to order from. I had an espresso martini/drink and I will say my friend and I both agreed it was the best one we'd had. There is food available but I personally didn't try any. The take away if you are considering trying this place out is that it's a great basic bar with food to order but the main focus is that it's a place to enjoy a day or evening with friends playing board or card game. Recently I met some great friends at Pawn & Pint for some board gaming. I wasn't sure what to expect but when I walked through the front door I was transported into a world of wonder, a seemingly endless and varied array of games and a well stocked bar. All the elements for a fun night of backstabbing were in place. Our super friendly bartender/gamemaster was always there with helpful advice or a delicious cocktail to ease the pain of an unfortunate roll of the dice. The ambience was game friendly with plenty of room for all sizes of groups. A loft/elevated seating area overlooks the gamers below. I didn't actually go up there. I thought it may have been a secret lair for dungeon masters and knew better than to tempt fate. The one slight downside was the somewhat dim lighting. While it was pretty normal for a bar setting, the lack of illumination made it difficult to read the sinister objectives on my secret identity cards. Then again, maybe I shouldn't have stared into the sun when I was 6. So highly recommend! If you want to go there and play Break the Ice, I say do it! The Gloomhaven gang is too busy figuring out their 87 pages of rules to judge you. Also, I need new gaming friends. The drinks were decent, but over-priced for the size you got. Also they serve NO FOOD. As in ZERO. Not even crap microwaveable stuff or bags of chips. Nothing. I'm not a drinker, so I am not going to stay in a bar and drink all night, especially if you don't serve something to soak up the alcohol; and if I am going to just have a soda or water, I can do that at home or any number of other locations. There is absolutely no reason for me to come here. They do have quite a lot of board games and a few video games, including some classics like pac-man; however, again, there is NO food so you can't really stay long unless you are used to just drinking for hours without sustenance. A great place to hang out with your friends! I came on a Friday night during their Harry Potter themed day where they had some themed drinks and Harry Potter trivia in addition to playing our board games. Cover fee is $5 (which is a great price, considering you can stay as long as you want). I had their butterbeer that night (which is not the actual butterbeer; it is beer with butterscotch) which I was hesitant about trying. I wasn't sure how the combo would work out. The kind gentleman working behind the bar saw my hesitation and let me try the drink before I got it. (I have a history of getting drinks that I end up hating) I was so glad that I got to try it because it was absolutely delicious! There was barely any beer flavor and very strong butterscotch taste. Definitely worth the try. The place is also decently sized with an upstairs and downstairs area and a whole wall full of board games that you can choose from. Note, they do not sell food here, even though I keep seeing food in reviews. You are allowed to order food for delivery or bring outside food in (but not drinks!) I wasn't entirely sure what to except at Pawn and Pint, but I wasn't disappointed! In order to play, you pay a reasonable $5 cover. Once inside, there's plenty of tables to sit at and more board games than I even knew existed. We had a BLAST learning some new games and revisiting some childhood classics (Guess Who, Mouse Trap, Topple, the list goes on). At first, the game options can seem a little bit daunting. I'd love to know exactly how many games are available there. Hundreds? Thousands? Luckily, we were greeted by Andy, the game master. Andy was super friendly and offered great game recommendations based on what we liked, how long we wanted to play, and how much brainpower we wanted to use. Andy also thoroughly explained each game and was available to answer any questions we had. There's also a full bar available and some bar snacks as well. I came here randomly on a Saturday with a group of friends. We had extra time before our dinner reservation. It was easy to find and parking wasn't bad. I think there was a fee for entrance. I wanna say it was $5/person. There is lots of space in this building. You can stay on the ground floor or go upstairs for a table. There is also MANY games to choose from. Its a little overwhelming but not bad. We liked one of the games we played that someone in our group bought it online. You can also get alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks here too. They have a bar in the back of this place and a sign with specials. I like the concept of this place and it's a great place to go with a group of people. SUCH A BLAST! This place is a gamer's HEAVEN. This place has *almost* every single board game you can think of. We went on Harry Potter night, which we weren't aware of before going, but it was still a blast. Who doesn't love playing games and being surrounded by fellow HP lovers. Their new location is very spacious and finally serves alcoholic drinks! I recommend getting there earlier than whenever your are planning especially if it is a themed evening. It fills up quick and people aren't there to hang out for 20 minutes and leave. If I'm going to pay $5 buck for games AND for drinks on top of that, I'm in it for the long haul. The food menu seems aggressively overpriced in my opinion. A personal sized pizza is $10. We were all hungry and would have split something but $10 per person on top of drinks and games seemed like a little much. This place was fantastic! Full bar with a bit of everything. Plenty of good beers on tap! And tables filled with games everywhere. First off is the wall of games. Fantastic amount to pick from and I may sort through mine and donate those to this cause. We ended up picking a few. Seating was a little difficult as there was a lot of us and we were later in the evening so most of the tables were filled. D&D games everywhere! I was so happy! (Hey Rob... your nerd is showing!) But here you aren't concerned about that. This is a location filled with gamers, drinkers, and yes even foodies. I smelled a lot of wonderful scents wafting from the kitchen. But I was after booze and gaming this night so I am afraid the food will have to wait for the next review. Now I can tell by the way you are looking at me that you wanna know... Why if the place is so good did it only get four stars. I'll tell you why. If you have read my other reviews then you already know I like my booze. The bartender... though friendly and willing to give things a shot... didn't know how to make an Old fashioned. (Yes the first drink I learned in bartending school.) So that lost a star. Such a fun spot for a low key hangout! Pawn and Pint is the first board game bar I'd ever been to, so I didn't initially know what to expect. For just $5, you can play all the games you want for as long as you want (until close, of course). The selection of games is endless - from party games, to two player games, to strategy, it goes on. I've never known a game I couldn't find there. The best part is that they have lots of themed games as well for fandoms. For example, I'm a HUGE Harry Potter fan, and they have so many games specific to that. No matter what you're interested in, they probably have something for you. The only thing I'm not crazy about is that they don't serve food. However, they have lots of drink options at the bar, and you can bring your own food or have it delivered. We've been coming here for on Wednesdays for many months, supporting them through the pandemic, to play trivia.  Last night when we arrived they asked for ID at the door and told us we'd have to leave at 9pm because one of us is underage (20).  I told them we're only there to play trivia and wouldn't be drinking alcohol, and they said, "Oh, good, Trivia is over at 9!"  I asked what would happen at 9 if it was NOT over and she just reitterated, "Trivia is over at 9!"    So at 9:05 when they shut down the trivia game and made an announcement that we needed to leave, we got up and left... I asked for a refund of the entry fee since we were being ejected from the game that was only 75% complete, and we now had zero chance of winning anything.  The hostess said, "Well, you got to play didn't you?"  Yes, but we were ejected before we could win anything.  The point of "pay to play" is that you might win a prize.  I escalated my request to the manager and he sent her back with the statement "Sorry, no refunds" and cards to come back and play again another time.  No thanks.  We won't be back.  We'll find someplace to play that can either follow their own rules consistently (we've been coming for MONTHS and never been asked to leave early), or schedule the games to end prior to ejecting people. I guess now that the pandemic is easing up and they're getting more business, they no longer need the support of regulars that came when they were struggling to keep the doors open.  If they'd told us "you'll be ejected at 9pm whether the game is complete or not" then it's on us to risk our entry fees, but telling us it would be complete by then to get our money was disingenuous at best. read more

I have enjoyed being a patron at pawn and pint for the last 3 years, and even with everything happening in the world I still wish them the best. However, the last few times I have been there it was clear that things have changed and are very different. There is still an amazing game collection to peruse and play, and I am happy to see some new games still be added to the collection. There is free wifi and plenty of space to play games as well. However my main concern was how the management spoke to me the few last times I visited (twice in October 2020), which made it clear they were beyond unprofessional. Also, at the last event I was at, the loud club music made it hard to concentrate on the gaming atmosphere. Furthermore they need to pay their bathrooms more attention if every stall is out of supplies. Nevertheless, the bartender was nice and their trivia host, Max, is amazing! Things have changed, and I do wish them success, but the way things are changing are not for me. read more

Update; I love this place!! I have become a regular that the Wednesday night trivia events, starts at 7pm hosted by DJ Max James, and love the atmosphere. It's a 5$ entry, totally worth it, and the drinks are all reasonably priced. If you come for trivia you'll defiantly enjoy yourself. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places take home prizes and Max gives out free drink tokens throughout the night. I love the place and everyone except the manager. He's rude and condescending. I was warned that he was this way before I got there and to be frank about it, I didn't feel like talking to the man more than necessary. I went up to the bar and ordered a drink off of their cocktail drink menu and then ordered an additional shot on the side (of the alcohol from the drink to make it stronger without having to ask for him to add it in himself to maybe or maybe not make it stronger - we all know the type). Anyway, he gave me a dirty look and then lectured me for a few minutes on how the drink isn't supposed to be strong, it's supposed to be sweet. That's cool and all but I don't care. I'm willing to pay for the shot, obviously, and I tried to avoid this situation all together. If it wasn't for him, it's a 10/10 for this place but he sucks. Thanks to our Yelp friend Amanda for setting up a UYE at Pawn & Pint to give us an excuse to call the babysitter and try this place out. To be honest, I was hesitant about the idea of a board game place. Is it just a bunch of people sitting around playing Magic the Gathering (no offense if you're into that kind of thing) awkwardly and making small talk? This place was amazing! It might be my new favorite place in the city to take friends to. It combines good drinks with super fun cocktail options, food by The Homesteader Cafe right next door, and thousands of options on board games to play. They even have employees walking around to give you game suggestions and explain the rules of the games. Our guy Andy was seriously so knowledgeable about the games he suggested. How did he memorize all these instructions? Some of the games he suggested weren't our favorite but it was fun to try some new games out. Highlights - $5 cover to stay and play as long as you like? Yes, please! Very spacious layout and helpful staff. The board game selection was phenomenal. We play 7 Wonders throughout the evening and had a great time. Food - Can't recommend the food. We ordered some appetizers and fish & chips. In a few words, you're not coming here for the food - so eat beforehand and enjoy the gaming :) Drink-wise - Limited (but decent) selection that was a tad pricey. Plenty to enjoy while gaming though. My GF and I wanted to try a trivia night, and I scouted out Pawn and Pint the weekend before. This was really a lot of fun. Get there a little early and get your food sorted. Good (not great) bar is missing some key products, but that's ok. We didn't come for the bar. Guy running trivia was lively and funny. We were either last or next to last, but didn't care. If you check in, you can get a free soda or coffee. It wasn't overly too crowded and they have lots of game you might heard of and some you haven't. Sorry the kids with us went downstairs to get games. Saying they were unattended was ridiculous. They were simply going to get games games to play. You certainly were more than happy to take $5 for each kid ($50 for the total group to play games). What is ridiculous is a 45 minute wait on two hamburgers and two salads.......but I guess that's acceptable service in your establishment. Update: we didn't even get all the food we ordered. Pawn and Pint is a pretty dope little spot for only $5. With all of the games you could ever want, $5 provides a full night of entertainment. The staff there was also super cool and explained a new game to us so that we didn't have to read all of the rules. We happened to get there right around opening and they were pretty dead at the start. The longer we were there, the busier it got and by the time we left they were packed! I visited Pawn & Pint for the first time last night. It's such An awesome place! They had a million games to choose from and a wide variety. It's $5 to play all the games you want. They also have a great food menu which i wasn't expecting! The staff was very friendly as well. It was also the "game master?" First night and he was great! Knew a lot of tips and tricks and was relaxed despite the place being slammed. I give 3 stars because service was a little slow. Eventually we ordered some pretzels and waited for an hour only to decide we were tired of waiting and we would get food elsewhere. We went to tab out and the pretzels hadn't even been rung in. I think they needed more waitresses and staff for it being a weekend. Otherwise, I will return because I love board games. read more

Stopped thru with the crew and was greeted by a guy behind the counter that explained how the establishment works...Paid $5 to play unlimited games. They have some snacks and games for sale up front. Past the counter there is a huge area of tables and chairs along with a second floor set up. Along the wall are a ton of games labeled by category to keep things simple. In the very back is a full bar. The menu has some unique drink names and they pour them strong . The drinks are reasonably priced. The food menu is very pricey to say the least and employees come to the tables often to check on patrons. On weekends it gets very busy, so I suggest coming during the week if big crowds arent your thing. The games are very fun, throwbacks to childhood memories and new experiences are to be had.
