I would not recommend this grooming service to anyone. My dog has anxiety and gets real nervous over certain things. I was told she was not aggressive. The groomers exact words were...."she keeps trying to get off the table" .I'm not sure that would mean she is aggressive or that she needs medication. to calm her down. I have seen dogs being groomed and standing on a table with a holding collar on. I would think a professional groomer would know how to groom an animal without medicating them .As expensive as it is to have your animal groomed if there is a threat to the groomer I could understand medication but not for simply trying to get off the table. read more

I have an American Bully who is overly playful and very loving. He is 2 1/2 years old. I started taking him to Petsmart and the grooming staff was very young and inexperienced and always had a difficult time with bathing him so I just stopped going there. Then I tried Healthy Petz grooming service and my dog smelled like he did when I brought him....but Paws & Claws are amazing. We love it here! I'm sad to see anyone has had a problem with paws and claws. I take my golden doodle at least weekly for play time and every 6-8 weeks for grooming. Lisa and Stefanie do a great job keeping Lucy looking adorable and Allyssa and the day care crew wear her out with fun and games and energy appropriate playmates. I've also had occasion to board all my girls once in a while and I'm confident they are in good hands and well taken care of. ONE star because there is nothing lower available-- HORRIBLE! Our regular groomer was booked several weeks, so I called Paws and Claws to give them a try. My Gracie had a grooming appointment on 6/20/19 @ noon. I was contacted at 2:09 to come get her due to her tongue hanging out and turned blue, had pooped herself and was "alligator rolling" (their words). Since I was at work, my mom was there to get her in less than 10 minutes and had her to the vet, and graciously, they took her in immediately. She appeared fine, though in the exam he found she had a collapsing trachea and her throat was sensitive to the touch. Since Gracie's demeanor was much better, I took her home. Through the night and on Friday she had several bouts of diarrhea and vomiting so I took her back to the vet where blood work was completed (it came back all within normal levels) and xrays. All organs were fine except her belly, where the doctor diagnosed her with Stress-Induced Gastroenteritis. She was sent home with new, bland food, bio sponge powder, pain meds, and nausea meds. Tuesday 6/25/19, Gracie continued to vomit and would not eat and went BACK to the vet. Her personality was gone. She was weak and trembled constantly. She was put on IV fluids subcutaneously, continued pain and nausea medication. I contacted the owner of Paws and Claws and she claims stress is a part of the grooming process and she is not liable for anything that has happened yet the three times I've been given the "story" of what happened, it is in bits and pieces, not in order of events, and NEVER the same each time its given. I also found out via her Facebook post to try and save her reputation that Gracie was muzzled during the incident (was never disclosed to me! SOMETHING happened to my dog in that horrific place!!! My dog has been getting groomed since she was 6 months old and NEVER has this happened!!! Save you and your pet the stress and heartache of being mistreated or unsupervised, or whatever happened to my sweet Gracie girl. We will never know, because as Paws and Claws knows, dogs can't talk!!!!! read more

I don't typically leave reviews on businesses, but I did not have the best experience here. Last year, we chose Paws & Claws to board our dog while we went to the beach. We got her back at the price stated and she was well taken care of. This year, we chose them again. We boarded from Saturday-Thursday after 11:00 AM. I called twice to confirm the price of 6 full days and made sure they knew we wouldn't be there to pick her up until after 11 AM on Thursday and both times they said it would be $165. Last year, we paid up front and the only additional charge upon pick up was a bath in which I told them to do. This year, we tried to pay when we dropped her off and they said they only take payments upon pick up. We went to pick her up and was charged $234. Might I add, I am a college student and unexpected extra charges are a big deal for me. They charged $198 for 6 full days and $36 for cleaning fees. When called, the front desk lady told us that cleaning fees were dependent on the size of the mess. So I guess if your dog has big poops, beware. This is fine. Cleaning fees were in the paper work in which I signed. The issue is that I sent my dog with 3 extra cups of food. (2.5 cups per day- 18 cups total) They called me Wednesday and said they ran out of food. She is also a dog who does not pee or poop in her crate. She will hold it for 12+ hours before she has an accident. I feel it is outrageous that I was charged $70 extra than what was expected because my dog pooped in her crate... excuse me, "suite", while clearly being over fed and was charged differently than what I prepared for. It is imperative that I add on the zip lock bags we put the food in, i labeled with how many total cups were in the bag with a measuring cup and put the directions on each bag. "2.5 cups/day". I don't know if there is a staffing issue or what is going on, but they need to get it together because I used to recommend this place to people and now I feel like I would be doing a disservice to someone if I did. If you decide to board your dog here, READ OVER THE PAPER WORK THOROUGHLY. I RECOMMEND INDIVIDUALLY PACKAGING EACH DAY PRE-MEASURED OUT WITH THE DAY OF THE WEEK AND DATE. This way they can't overfeed your dog and you are aware of some of the fees you might obtain. read more

It has blocked me from messaging people which is fine, but to the person who posted the bad review, I have something to say and to everyone listening. Burke county and its businesses including this place which is Paws and Claws thinks they can get away with murder and not one single person will say and do anything. I do not know where Paws and Claws got their law degree which she obviously does not have, but she is dead wrong. I would call her bluff and go to WBTV news investigates, find a good attorney including pro bono ones, and report them to the ASPCA and humane society. You can also file a compaint with the Better Business Bureau and BBB. Since taking my dog to this place for the past few times, I have noticed injuries on my dog. Last time, he came home bleeding with a cyst and before that a hematoma. I will be taking him to the vet, but you can report them various places. Also, to find a good lawyer try Bing including pro bono ones. Someone has taught these businesses not attorneys how to lie through their teeth and how to pad their facebook page with rave reviews by their friends. Thanks for the heads up. I hope you post who your actual groomer is and was and give them a rave review so we know where to actually go. It has come to my attention that aroma therapy is toxic to dogs including doggie perfume which may be what is setting my dog off, but I will be mentioning this to the vet and possibly WBTV investigates and my attorney if it comes to that.
