Update: the business pointed out that our dog was there for only a year, not "a few years" (I stand corrected!). Fortunately, the wound was more superficial than it appeared and is all healed up. TLDR: Business and we disagree on the details of what happened. I assume you have better things to do, but as they suggest on Google, you can go to read their tirade against us on Facebook if you're interested. What it comes down to is our dog acted like a jerk but was attacked and injured, and there was no preventative safety plan. Separately he always came home smelling of stale urine which they did not address. We decided to remove him from the situation and as is our right, make other dog owners aware of our experience. I brought my Frenchie for a temperament evaluation to see if this place was a good fit. I was then told I needed to pay 20$, which I promptly declined. It is outrageous that a place would charge for what should be a free consultation. Also I was informed that the dogs are crated for 2 hours after eating to "let their stomachs settle". Be aware that if you choose to have your dog fed breakfast and lunch, the poor pumpkin will be spending 4 hours in a small crate. If you love your dog, do not choose this place. read more

They LOVE dogs at Paws Rule. I drive 40 miles to bring our dog here because of superior care he receives. They separate the dogs by size and you can see them play through the glass. There is a staff member assigned to each area and they are people who love to play with dogs! The dogs play fetch and run around in a safe environment and are showered with loads of affection and attention. Initially, they do an evaluation with your dog to make sure it's a good fit for your dog's safety and for the safety of the other dogs there. The staff is friendly, their focus is the care and welfare and happiness of the dogs in their care. Our dog cannot wait to get here. The mere mention and he is so excited. He loves to play with the dogs and the staff. He always sleeps all the way home and the rest of the evening from all the activity at doggy day care. The grooming is excellent, and they were even able to make the skunk smell go away when our pup ran out to pee one night and interrupted a skunk on our back porch. A couple of weeks ago on August 27th, my boyfriend and I took our pup, Sasha, for a pre-scheduled temperament evaluation. We had wanted to set Sasha up for daycare and also for boarding for a trip we had planned for the week after Labor Day. The owner, Jackie Leigh, was kind enough to take us after their normal evaluation timeframe because of our schedule. Jackie was there when we arrived and the staff took Sasha into the play area with the other dogs, and we were able to watch through the large window in the lobby. While we watched, we saw a few dogs pee and poop in the play area. The staff cleaned up the accidents pretty quickly, but a few other dogs still managed to step or roll in it. As Sasha played, Jackie took down our contact info and vet info and also went over the details of boarding and daycare. One of the reasons we initially looked into Paws Rule is the van transportation they offer for daycare because we're uncomfortable with giving keys to a dog walker. We found out that although they open at 6:30am, the van doesn't leave the shop until 8:30am and that they need keys to pick up and drop off the daycare dogs. This was a dealbreaker for us for daycare. We still asked about boarding, and Jackie scheduled us by writing Sasha's name into a notebook with a few names scrawled on each page designated for different dates. We then left for lunch while Sasha completed her 2-hour evaluation. When we came back for her, she smelled pretty foul, and it seemed like she had sat in some other dog's pee. We were concerned about this happening while boarding, but with our trip so soon, we tried to put it out of our minds. Over the course of the next week, we attempted to contact Paws Rule with questions about our booking because the rates weren't clear on their website or pamphlet and we weren't given a quote for the final cost during Sasha's evaluation. We called at various times during their business hours and left three voicemails. We were never able to speak to a live body and no one ever called us back. We couldn't even cancel because we couldn't speak to an actual staff person. As a result, we ended up booking a last-minute sitter through Rover.com. The real kicker is no one from Paws Rule ever contacted us even when we didn't show up with Sasha on the scheduled date. Overall, I'm not at all confident in the way Paws Rules operates, and I'm concerned by the lack of communication. The staff and Jackie seemed very nice and appeared to genuinely love all their doggie clients, but their practices and policies aren't very clear and there is an overwhelming sense of disorganization. read more

When it comes to trusting a pet with strangers it is unnerving to go to a place you may not be used to but Paws Rule gave us the free opportunity to have our little one try the place for half a day. This gesture gave us peace of mind that they would take good care of out dog while we were away for a extended weekend. He arrived back to us all bathed and happy. They separate the big dog from the small ones and they have access to an outdoor play area whenever they want. The facility is clean, well lit and modern. He had a small scratch on his nose from the crate that we was put in but they were very up front with the cause of the wound and never tried to hide it for a moment. That shows to me how they take responsibility for the precious dogs they are in charge of. read more

Took my dogs here for daycare a couple of times. The staff was friendly, but the square footage (especially outside) was a bit small. Normally, my dogs are tired after a day of daycare, but they were very active when I picked them up from a day at Paws Rule. Not sure how much they're playing vs sitting in a cage. I took one of my dogs for grooming on a Saturday. Three days later, I noticed that my dog was in pain. Looking thru her fur, she seemed to have a puncture wound or two. Thinking she may have been bitten at the daycare, I took her to my vet. She had some sort of chemical burn on 70% of her back. It was the worst case the vet had ever seen. Thankfully, my vet provided excellent care and she's recovered fully from the issue. I contacted Paws Rule to investigate the cause of the burns, but was met with little concern. They did provide the shampoo that they supposedly used, but both the owner and manger were out that day to discuss the issue. I did not receive a follow up call from anyone at Paws Rule... out of sight out of mind I suppose. I don't run a pet care business, but if I had a customer who had an injured pet, I would take the time to follow up on the problem. My dogs are happy and healthy at another daycare and we've found a groomer who cares about our dogs and their reputation. read more

I've boarded my dog at paws rule several times in the past. I always found that i never got a call back when i left a message and no one answered the phone when i called, i always had to physically go in and make sure the reservation was made. Overall the pup was fine each time, no complaints there, and they loved him. Recently i had left a message, of course no call back. Went in about a week ago of course the reservation was not made so I gave the boarding info to a women at the desk and got an email address to send in the vaccination ppwk. Went in last night to check again, no reservation was every made. The same women i gave the information to previously, denied taking it, says it wasn't her, she was on vaca. They never got my email with vaccination ppwk. Now i'm getting aggravated and frustrated. This person is someone i've never met in there before, so not sure how new she is, said she is the manager. I mention how i never get a return call, etc. This woman says to me stearnly, "stop being so rude"...and again i said well its true i never get a return call. She says, "that's it you will not be boarding here anymore"... of course i left and said a few choice words as i'm leaving. I wasn't nasty maybe sarcastic but not nasty to deserve her behavior. Wonder what the owner would think about her employee cutting off business like that or treating a customer like that.. But in the end she did me a favor, I called and booked my dog with someone else, first call, a person answered, emailed my ppwk and they replied with a confirmed email, and they cost less per day. woo hoo, thank you nasty sales clerk. Paws Rule has been a godsend for my 1-year-old mutt. I initially found them after needing boarding on fairly short notice. The staff was friendly and patiently answered all of my over-protective pet owner questions. All-day daycare is included with boarding, so my pup came home completely exhausted after six days. I was a little concerned about the boarding being in crates instead of a small room or kennel, but considering how tired he is after a full day of play, the crate is just fine. Now he goes to daycare 1-2 times per week and can barely stay awake for the 15 minute drive home. They separate the dogs by energy level and size into at least three play areas, which makes for evenly matched play and very happy dogs. My dog usually has some stranger anxiety, but he's always excited from the minute we arrive in the parking lot and enthusiastically greets the staff. read more

I am just heartbroken over my experience with Paws Rule. Since my dog was just a little puppy, he went to Paws Rule for daycare. I always thought the staff was truly great at their jobs and I was so lucky that my dog was truly loved by several staff members. I was even able to bring him there while he recovered from a major surgery to continue his socialization and get some activity - I always felt the staff was looking out for him and I felt comfortable leaving him in their care. And then, as happens in life, things changed...and not for the better. For the last couple of months, I haven't been quite as happy with the level of service I was getting at Paws Rule. I knew this was because the owner was dealing with some personal matters - as we all do in life from time to time - and just hoped things would go back to normal sooner rather than later. But that didn't happen...I started getting attitude from a couple of the staff members who would never have acted like that when the owner was more on top of things and I constantly felt like I was intruding on the time of the staff just by being a customer - I interrupted several people texting on their personal cell phones while trying to pick up & drop off my dog! One night, I had to, AGAIN, tell someone that my dog's harness was on upside down and the response was "oh well" and she dropped the leash on the ground for me to retrieve and then picked up her cell phone to text someone!!!! I corrected the harness and then stood there waiting for some sort of acknowledgement - but nooooo, I had to interrupt her to find out if my dog had a good day! But then the worst thing happened. My dog was neglected. I was on a business trip and paid them to pick up & drop off my dog for 3 of the days I was gone. They asked about the key I gave them...I told them that if no one was home when they brought my dog back to keep the key and I would swing by and get it over the weekend when I returned. The idiot driving the van BROUGHT MY DOG BACK TO PAWS RULE!!!! When the error was pointed out to him by a competent staff member, who even noted that I was out of state & the person caring for my dog had a knee injury & couldn't drive, so NO ONE WAS COMING TO GET MY DOG...the irresponsible jerk's response was "that's not what the note said, I'm taking my dog and going home." The note in question was still sitting in the van...upon review CLEARLY stated that the dog was to be dropped off!!! (This, after he'd already left the house where my dog was staying UNLOCKED FOR THE ENTIRE DAY when he picked him up the day before!!!) This guy not only wouldn't bother to double-check the note, but when he had a chance to correct his error, he chose to abandon my dog and go home, openly neglecting his responsibility to my dog. To say I was furious when I found out would be an understatement. I was heartbroken that my dog was left behind on purpose. The open neglect displayed by this guy is unacceptable. I was in tears that I couldn't come and help my dog. And positively stunned that this happened in a place that's sole purpose is to care for animals. I left my dog with people I'd grown to trust over the course of almost 2 years and I am still so very sad and upset that this happened. The owner was on vacation. Knowing her love of animals and the level of service she expected her staff to provide, I fully expected her to return from her trip & fire this loser. But no - the owner chose to keep the driver on because he wasn't going to be working there for much longer and overall had - in her opinion - been really great with the animals. So, no repercussions for the driver. He didn't even have to apologize to me or my dog!!! The owner preferred to lose me as a longtime customer than have to find a new driver in a pinch. The owner also felt that since the driver did send a text (after my dog had already been picked up later that evening) offering to do his job & bring my dog back to where he was staying, that that made it all ok. I'm not sure when it became ok to offer to do your job - via text no less. I'm also not sure when it became ok to sit in front of customers and text on your personal cell phone. As appalled and hurt as I was by how this was all handled, it is my dog that I want you to think about. He was left confused by what happened and when people entrusted with his care decided they simply didn't want to do their job, he was simply left. This was a business I trusted with the care of the love of my life and that I often recommended to others. But never again. read more

I am not changing my overall rating, but wanted to update that we no longer take our dog to Paws Rule. I started to notice that our dog lost the crazy tail wag/bark fit habit as we pulled into the parking lot, but didn't think much of it...then we ran into one of the main employees at Paws Rule around town, and instead of wagging his tail and getting excited, our normally outgoing/bold dog ran behind me and HID. That had never happened before, and has never happened since. Those two factors, plus changes to my work schedule, made me stop using Paws Rule. I don't know--and didn't ask--why my dog might be reacting like this, so I didn't think it was fair to change my rating. read more

Paws Rule has been such an amazing place to bring my dog. The facilities are always kept very clean and my dog cries because he's so excited when I take him there in the mornings. When I pick him up, the staff always tells me how his day went and who his new friends were. I leave him during the day knowing that the staff treats him like they treat their own dogs. I highly recommend any dog owner looking for a daycare (whether their dog is big or small) to go to Paws Rule. read more

I've been using Paws Rule for close to three years now and I wouldn't trust my dog to anyone else for day care. Everyone is so kind, funny, and easy to talk to. They give you an update of how your dog's day was, and always give my dog a little treat on her way out. And they've put in a lot of time to make my nervous dog feel like she's at home when she's there. They also offer van service which has been awesome on days I won't be able to pick her up by closing. It's nice to bring my dog to a place where even after 3 years, she still gets crazy excited when I say "wanna go to school?" She drags me in every time! read more

I've been bringing my dog to paws rule for quite a few years now. Believe me, she's not the easiest and if there was any doubt that she wasn't getting the same love as all the others she wouldn't be going. She's a medium size dog but prefers the little group and has done so well. The staff tells me if she played (exciting! She's dog friend selective, think mean girls hahah) or if she was just a little more of a loner. I've added another dog to my house and they were more than accommodating with his senior needs. 2 days a week, i pick up happy and tired dogs and that's all I can ask for. Thanks paws! read more

I love the fact that the staff is always paying attention to the dog and playing with them. I love the atmosphere the staff the dogs everything about this place is Good vibes only. Jackie and her crew are amazing and I trust them with my dog and she is a pain but they take very good care. I think this is the best dog daycare in New England because it's the only one that actually cares and you get to see the excitement and your dog's face when they get home all tired from playing with their friends and crew. With 3 dogs of my own and a constant stream of foster dogs for the rescue I co-founded, I personally am so thankful for this great place. We meet Jackie and her crew at an adoption day a few years back; one of our volunteers brought a foster dog there and Jackie refused to charge her (us) for this; this has gone on for several years. I began bringing two of my three dogs there when I moved closer to their location - my French Bulldog is truly hell on wheels but the staff were always so happy to see him (or very good liars! :) Both dogs loved it and when I said in the morning "do you want to go to school" they ran for the door. Working in Boston I had some days when no matter how hard I tried I was either late or almost late - no scolding or extra charges - they waited for me. Jackie offered to drive them home to my house. Sadly I moved an the pups don't go there anymore although I've been asked to please bring Buggy back for a visit - masochists I say! Great place, great people and every time I've gone in there the dogs seem to be having a blast. Not sure what else anyone could ask for. So disappointed! Took my little Pekingese there last week for a grooming and boy oh boy I will never go there again and not recommend it to anyone. Afterwards he looked like he got run over by an old lawn mower or a kid had done the grooming. His ears were not clean and I couldn´t tell if his nails had been trimmed at all. My kids even asked me not to bring him to the bus stop to pick them up because the other kids on the bus would laugh at him :( Had to take him to another place to make him look decent again and do a proper grooming, they said they had never seen anything like it before. The only good thing I can say about Paws Rule is that they were friendly people. I sent in a complaint and it wasn´t until two days later that I got a call offering an apology and was invited to bring him in again (hell no) didn´t even offer a reimbursement. read more

We started taking our dog Dexter there after we had an incident at land of paws. I wish I would have known about this place before. I appreciate that they don't try to hide anything at this facility. It is very clean and dogs have acess to inside and outside at the same time which I appreciate. My dog is always very excited to go there and very tired when I pick him up. The staff is super friendly and I like that they will asses your dog before letting him stay at daycare. I feel better knowing they don't let super aggressive dogs into the mix there. I haven't tried grooming yet but I think I am going to do that today. I advise everyone to come to paws rule, they actually care about your pet here! read more

The staff at Paws Rule are truly amazing! We started here 4 years ago after a horrible experience with Land of Paws (now called GotPaws). I was anxious to bring my lab mix rescue pup here after being told he was just too energetic (really?!?) for daycare. Jackie and the rest of the staff at Paws Rule assured me he'd be fine. Bentley is certainly special needs/anxious/hyper and they accommodate him beautifully! He cries like a baby when we pull into the parking lot and cannot get inside fast enough! He plays with only females all day and every single staff member seems to genuinely care about him. They are friendly, helpful, and most importantly, trustworthy. If issues ever arise, they call right away, and it's clear that the dogs there are being given the love and attention they all deserve. Never, never, never take your dog to Paws Rule for grooming. My Springer Spaniel was wounded, nicked, ragged; the absolute worst grooming I had ever seen. I called to complain and was told to talk to the owner. I called multiple times and never got a return call. I left multiple voice mail messages. Silence. The grooming cost 75 dollars!!! I think the groomer was on drugs as the person who dropped off our dog for the grooming said at the time that the guy who groomed him seemed "spaced out". I subsequently took my dog to another groomer who was also a Vet. She called me to say there were several wounds on my dog's skin which concerned her. I told her about the awful grooming a few weeks in the past which she said was obviously the cause of these small healing wounds. Never go to Paws Rule for any service whatsoever. The Pawz Rule staff has been truly fantastic to us. My Boston Terrier has major separation anxiety. During his first stay he was jumping up on the window sill just looking for us the entire time he was there. He actually had marks on his paw pads to show just how anxious he was for us to return. When we got him back after his first stay I got a full report about his anxiety, as well as his behavior. We did decide to bring him again. This time, they gave him some special attenion and care, and were sure to separate him from the windows so he wouldn't be able to get all worked up looking for us. Paws Rule totally rules! I've been bringing my pups to this doggie daycare for 3 years; in that time I have brought home nothing but happy, exhausted dogs which is the whole purpose. I am at work all day long, and my seniors are quite content lounging around at home with a mid-day walk. The younger ones, however, need tons of play & exercise - Jackie and her staff ensure they get all that & more. I never worry what's going on inside because the huge window looking into the play area affords an unobstructed view of the entire place, no hiding anything; and there is always a "classroom monitor" in case any of the dogs get unruly (which mine did and received a much-deserved time out). The mops & buckets are in constant use so the place is always clean; it's temp controlled so the dogs are never too hot or too cold. I appreciate that I can call anytime during the day for a report and they will tell me exactly what the dogs are up to without making me feel like I'm bothering them. I have also stopped in unexpectedly and was happy to see my dogs breathlessly chasing and playing and drinking out of the bucket of fresh water--I'm lucky if they stop long enough to say hello to me :) Jackie the owner and every employee I have met here has a true love for dogs, they talk about them like people talk about their kids, and I know my dogs are safe, healthy & having a blast. They are my kids that's all that matters. read more
