I've been taking my dogs to Brian for about 8 years now, daycare, grooming, and boarding. The staff genuinely care about the dogs and are always excited to see them, and the pups are always excited to go. For grooming, both have short fur so I can't comment on cuts, but I've never had an issue (baths and nail clipping). With boarding, one of them specifically has a tendency to come back dirty, but that is mostly because she enjoys trying to destroy her water dish and laying in the remains. I've always recommended Brian and will continue to do so! read more

I took my cat to Brian's to be bathed and trimmed as she is a long haired domestic cat and had quite a few knots. Of course I was nervous as this was the first time I've taken my cat for this type of grooming. I was greeted by two women who were beyond wonderful and put me at ease about leaving my cat. When I picked my cat up, she looked beautiful. All the knots were gone. She was a happy Kitty. And I was a happy mom. I would definitely recommend this place. I really do believe they went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and my Kitty I will definitely be taking my cat back there. read more

Absolutely disgusting. I picked up my dog today after 4 nights of boarding and he was completely soaked in pee and had feces all over him. He was soaked to the point that my pants were also soaked through when he greeted me. It was like he was just sitting in pee in his kennel. I just moved here from out of state and was recommended here by our leasing office. Didn't think to check online reviews which is my mistake. I knew when I pulled up that I was not going to be happy but had no other choice but to leave him as I had an upcoming flight. If I had more time I absolutely would not have left him there. The facilities are extremely dirty and you can hear all the dogs crying continuously. The only semi-positive thing I can say is that the owner did call me when my dog wasn't eating to ask about his shots (he's diabetic and has to eat before he can get his insulin). It seems like shots were administered correctly as he seems to still be in good health. Though when I spoke to the owner he basically told me not to board my dog with them again as he's too high maintenance because of the diabetes. Would never board with them again either way. read more

We took our puppy for his first haircut to get him used to the experience. We waited outside a sketchy door and someone came out to get him. There were no windows and we had no idea what the inside looked like and where we were going to be leaving our puppy. That should've been clue number one that we should have left. The groomer told us that she was just going to keep it fun for our puppy and trim around his eyes... TRIM. they called us after 3 hours to let us know he was done. When we got there we paid $40 before even seeing our puppy. In hindsight, we now know they do that so that you can't refuse to pay because we would have DEFINITELY refused. We did not recognize our dog. They did not do what they told us they were going to do. Moreover, it appears that for the full 3 hours our puppy wasn't given any water because he drank water like he was parched. read more

Not sure why there are bad reviews on here. I've never had a problem with Brian's. My dog always smells so fresh and clean after a grooming appointment. He is also always in good spirits when I picked him up after we had to board him for a few days for a vacation. The prices are fair so I would recommend them. read more

Our 7 month old lab pup just finished his two week board and train. We felt the need for professional help because he was so hyper. We are quite pleased with his progress. The trainer, Ron does a great job demonstrating the training methods. He also was very patient when instructing me how to continue the training at home. It's only been a couple of days but I really do see the difference in our pup. You still have to do the work at home in keeping up the training but I can see it will definitely be worth it. There is also a follow-up session with the trainer a few weeks after his training at Brian's is complete. read more

After spending way too much on grooming after moving to the city, someone recommended Brian's. The first visit there was the most thorough de-shedding my dog had ever received and I was delighted. The next visit was very good also but nothing holds a candle to that first groom. I will say my dog was uncharacteristically nervous in the waiting room, and the staff reported that she howled a lot while in the back, so I don't think I could ever use them for their boarding services. But I will be back again and again for the grooming. read more

I signed up Marlo for doggie boot camp, a two week residential training course. She came back happy and off to a good start in becoming a better dog. She was happy and (contrary to other reviews) clean. The training was completed in Oct. 2021. I hope to use them for doggie daycare in the fall. Just took my dog Nappy there for his first doggy daycare experience. I was a nervous wreck, but I could not have been happier when I went to pick him up and he looked like he had a great time. Avoid this place - it's borderline abusive. They are some of the cheapest rates around, but you get exactly what you pay for. Like other reviewers, my dog came back smelling absolutely terrible. He has allergies in the best of circumstances, and was sneezing every time he smelled himself. I can only imagine what he went through during the time he was staying there. The bigger issue is that he came home with scabs all over his legs. No one bothered to inform me of this while I was there - and I couldn't get a straight answer from staff when I called. I can only assume that he was either abused or the groomer was so careless that he dug clippers into my dogs skin. The desk staff is very friendly - but it is truly a false sense of security. Pay the few extra dollars more from anywhere else and don't put your dog through this awful experience. Edit: Just an update to the 'scabs' he came back with - while they have healed, the hair has never grown back - that's how deep the cuts were. I honestly get angry every time I think about this place. I can't stress avoiding it enough. read more

Two dumbs down for the grooming service. Chose this place because it was local and they had an appointment available for the weekend. Dropped my dog off at 9am. The groomer came out to consult on the details of the grooming. I advised her "short and fluffy". So she took her fingers and measured an inch or two. I thought to myself...ok, she seems precise and detailed. The groomer took my dog and said to call at noon to see if he's ready. 12:45pm rolls around. "He's not ready yet. He'll be ready at 4:30pm." WTH?! An 8 hour wash and cut?! I asked her what was taking so long, especially since I dropped him off at 9am. She said, "he needs to be blow dried. But we'll have him ready by 3:30pm." 4PM rolls around and we pick up my dog. HE HAS NO HAIR ON HIM! What happened to the extra 3 hour "blow dry" session??!! There was nothing on him to be blow dried! I was livid! 8 hours at your kennel and this is how he looks??!!! It didn't even look like they washed him! Just cut all his hair off and that was it for $50! Never again. read more

I don't know...I really don't want to knock this place, but I did take my dog here and I will say that when I picked him up smelled terrible. I mean TERRIBLE, straight to the tub with you, terrible. I was quite disappointed because overall I think it was a good experience for him (it was my little man's first time at a Kennel) and the staff were pretty nice on both drop off and pick up. I'm bummed because I am looking for a way to have my dog taken care of in the winter (I teach skiing in NH every weekend and will need to board him or now, I guess, get a pet sitter) and I just can't afford to either get him bathed every time he stays at this place, which would be every weekend for about 3 months, and I sure as heck can't get home late on a Sunday and give him a bath every Sunday for 3 months. I don't know...I know a kennel is a kennel, but my parents kennel their dogs and I've picked them up before and they never have smelled like this. A little smell I would expect, but this was just too much for even me. Overall, not what I expected after reading the previous review, but I guess it sounds like that dog gets a bath every time before it goes home. read more

Aloysius LOVES going here. We don't have to feel guilty when we go away and board him because he's so happy to stay there. The staff is great, and they have a vet on the premises so we don't have to worry if any issues arise while we are gone. We know he is well taken care of. They'll also groom him if we need it. When we go to drop Aloysius off he drags us inside. It makes it so much easier to board him because we know he's happy. read more

We took our golden doodle for grooming. My wife specifically told them NOT to shave him or give him a poodle cut. When we went to pick him up I paid before seeing him. When they brought him out he was almost unrecognizable! They had completely shaved our dog all over (except for a little on the very top of his head). So short in some places that he actually got razor burn on his skin. Not only did they DIRECTLY disregard our request on how to groom OUR dog, they have now left him with no fur what so ever going into the cold Boston fall/winter. This level of disregard and unprofessionalism is just unacceptable. Will never take our dog back to the establishment. read more

Although I personally do not have a dog, my roommate boards her dog here frequently and I've helped her by picking him up/dropping him off. The staff are very nice and accommodating. Despite the many animals they must see every day they know my roommate's dog by name and seem so welcoming. It's always traumatic for a dog to be kenneled but despite how happy the dog is to see familiar faces again, he never seems upset or scared by being there. They will also groom your dog while he stays there and they do a great job at that too. He goes in smelly and flat and comes out fluffy and brilliantly white and scented. I've heard only positive things from other people I know who just go there for grooming as well and it's also easy to find since it's right off 93. Highly recommended! read more

Just don't. Brought our family dog to Brian's Kennels thinking he would have plenty of room, walks, and care. Picked him up and he was covered in feces and urine. He shook for days and was sick for about a week. He was extremely neglected. I get sick to my stomach when I think of what he must've gone through. read more

I cannot stress this enough. please DO NOT. send your dog here. my puppy has a tough time with eating to begin with and we made that aware to the people taking care of him for the two weeks we are on vacation. we came back to get him and he's 10 POUNDS UNDER WEIGHT. when he already was a skinny boy to begin with. please do not send your dogs there. this place is ridiculous. i've been sobbing ever since we picked him up. I can feel every single bone in his body and he's so much less energetic than usual. he will not play, will not run, will not do anything like he used to and I know It is because he is under fed and now extremely unhealthy. terrible. terrible. terrible. 0 stars. absolutely 0 stars to this place. I have brought my dog there twice. The first time the did a great job...but the second time it was horrible. The first time the groomer was nice and did a great job , but she moved. The second time around I had to bring him back and he had razor burns. Also I took a peek in the grooming area and didn't look sanitary or clean to me. Our dog wasn't in a majorly bad way but our bag of dogfood was scarcely touched (should have been given more than three cups from it) and the dogs were sitting there in the dark. Big fan of this kennel. They are always very accomodating for my dog but the main reason why I like it here is that my dog actually seems to like it here. I bring him to Brian's every time I go out of town. I don't bring him regularly, but they know my puppy by name. Also, the prices here are very reasonable. The people and prices are great. I always do a couple of add-ons (solo walks, grooming, etc). My dog likes the place, tho he is very easy going. They have limited pick up time on Sunday's but open early on Mondays so I can get him before heading to work if going away for a long weekend. Took my dog in to get groomed & they had me pay first then the receptionist got my dog. I pointed out two areas that needed matted fur cut, his fur was about 3-4 inches long, when I brought him in. I told them I didn't want a shave or poodle cut on my golden. They completely shaved my dog SO POORLY& he is covered in razor burns, and it took a whole day for him to go back to his playful self after the visit. If I could give negative stars I would! I don't like to give bad reviews but I must inform you all what happened. The only positive first- the groomer did appear friendly to my dog. However when I got her home she had some scrapes and nicks and severe CUTS around her anus. So bad I had to take her to the vet who immediately said "who groomed her?" He felt the cuts on her anus were so bad she needed pills and ointment. More than 200 dollars later I took the bill to the groomer. The owner Brian later called and without seeing her he tried to blame the dog and did not apologize. He was rude and made matters worse. I wouldn't want anyone I know taking their pet here. Let me just say the people who work here were very nice when we dropped our dog off (a Saturday morning around 11am). The next day was Sunday (when we picked him up) and we arrived to the kennel around 12 and they were closed! According to their website someone lives on the premises...I WASNT ALLOWED to pick up my dog until 5:30 and was charged for two whole days. If someone lives there why couldn't I get him earlier. Ugh anyway I politely asked what all the charges were about and the girl who was helping me said, if you dont like our services then don't come back! Rude? I emailed the owner and responded by telling me my dog (who is very well behaved) was aggressive. I don't know...I went here blindly then asked my friends after the fact...they said they would not have recomended Brian's kennel. Oops. read more

For daycare, this place is definitely not for me. I brought my pup here with full intentions on leaving her for the day. I decided to ask if I could take a look around first. Glad I did because I decided to sacrifice my sleep post-nightshift and take my dog home with me. Their website (and Facebook page) is very misleading, makes it sound like the dogs have their own individual enclosure for nap time and they get out to play in groups throughout the day. But when I was there I asked how long does she get to play with the other dogs. The girl told me one hour, so I asked only once a day? She said yes. So the rest of the time my puppy would be sitting in a cage by herself. No thank you. The girl did say "we are more of a boarding place that offers daycare than a daycare that offers boarding". I do appreciate that she was honest with me though. When I walked through there I felt like I was at the pound with each dog in a separate cage barking their heads off. I will stick with the less convenient doc daycare in JP I take her to. read more

My puppy was mauled by a dog that the owner said was "trained and fully socialized" by Brian's Kennel. The incident did NOT occur at the kennel but just beware that they do have vicious dogs there and are not training or socializing them appropriately. I hope that they do not let the dog that attacked my puppy back into their facility as it would be a danger to the other dogs. read more

I have been boarding my dog Lilly at Brians Kennels for over 6 years now..They are AKA accredited (very important). The staff are sweet and treat the animals as if they were there own. Each dog has there own pen indoor and outdoor which I think is really nice because I don't have to worry about my dog being attacked by a bigger dog as she is a little one and we all know dogs can be territorial. Thank you Brians Kennells for taking such good care of my baby and keeping it affordable. read more

Maybe I am biased because my the people there love my dog but this place is awesome. My dog is always so excited to go to the kennel. As soon as he sees the place he can't wait to go inside. I know they don't make him stay in a cage because he is usually up front with the girls who work there. They know us and our dog by name and as soon as a I call to make him an apointment they are excited that he is coming to stay. He has smelled a few times and I account that on the fact that he plays with some of the other dogs while he is there. We just pay to have him groomed before we pick him up if he is staying longer than a day or two and we don't have that problem. I don't understand the bad reviews of this place. If we forget to bring the dogs bed with him they usualy let him borrow one while he is there. They care about our dog and we apreciate that. read more
