One thing I especially appreciate is that he offers both indoor and outdoor training, since my dog, Oscar, behaves very differently outside with distractions around him. While he listens well indoors, my commands sometimes seem to go "in one ear and out the other" outside, and Adam really focuses on addressing those real-life challenges. I also have two dogs, and even though the training is primarily for Oscar, Adam has gladly provided helpful tips and guidance for my second dog as well. If I can give this place 0 stars I would and if you have the opportunity to NOT go here then I'd advise you not to. Let's start off with how unprofessional and how poorly they handled everything. I first contacted them through email and was then reached out by with a call. From here I spoke with Adam and discussed possible opportunities to begin training my 5 month golden doodle. We agreed to set up an appointment to do the free evaluation the next day, I was waiting for the call but received a text message saying he suddenly realize he was booked until end of August (we first started talking in June). What surprised me is that he was the one who responded to my email with a call to set up the evaluation. He had the chance to look at his calendar prior to calling me yet failed to do so and for more clarity, he called me FIVE MINUTES before my appointment to cancel. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and had to move some things around but still agreed to do the evaluation later in the day with opportunity to begin training in mid/end of July (more likely end of July). We ended the evaluation with the intention that Adam would contact me in mid July to set up the contracts needed for training to commence. However, without a doubt I had to initiate the conversation and from here I learned that they had already booked those spots they mentioned to me we're going to be open. Funny thing is they assured me that they would be free and allowed someone else to reserve these spots. If I had known that I would be able to reserve the spot earlier and not wait for Adam to contact me a week before training then this would be entirely different situation. Moreover, they suggest they had spots open in beginning of August which now totally contradicts every statement they had told me. His first cancellation mentioned booked until end of August, then after our eval said mid/end July and then now early August??? I am aware clients can always cancel and they can suddenly become free but it seems like they do not even bother looking at calendars and reservations, they are only handling clients to however suits their personal benefit. TWICE this happened where they mishandled our situation. This is where I feel greatly disappointed and am only writing this review in hopes that I can help a potential client make their decision before moving forward with pawsitive interaction. I have been waiting for my puppy which is now going to be 7 months for training through them yet they put us on the back burner. They do NOT seem like they care about your dog or your personal situation. So, if you do not want to be constantly waiting or unsure to finally be let down by this training program then freely do so. Please do not waste your time or effort, a dog is a member of your family, I made the mistake and tried to be optimistic and gave them the benefit of the doubt but, I just wasted time that I could've spent finding another trainer. I've attached a screen shot of our communication to show how unprofessional they were to wait 5 minutes before an appointment to cancel. Note: I should have been a little more alert after our first conversation where Adam continually insisted that their training is the best. He would frequently say "just take a look at how many 5 star reviews we have." This was a signal that I had missed and now am aware about. I spoke with Adam before we got our new Malamute puppy (since have an existing have a 12 year old cat and 12 year old Rat Terrier) to get a better understanding of his techniques and steps to introduce everyone positively. He was so accommodating and talked me through his entire process and more! He even offered a free (in home) initial consultation once we got our puppy so he can assess her (first hand) and advise us accordingly on what path we should take. The initial consultation was great - Adam was able to gain trust from our Rat Terrier (Coffee) who hasn't been socialized with many other dogs and he even brought our new Malamute (Luna) a toy (that she loved!) to make the first impression positive! We've had two (out of five) sessions already and we are very pleased with the amount of detail and guidance we have received thus far. He even brought another goodie for Luna during our second session! Very thoughtful! One piece of advice I would give to all owners is - DO THE HOMEWORK! There is homework after each session and Adam is very thorough in explaining what everyone needs to work on to make the upcoming sessions and overall training with your pet successful. We have a 13 week old lab who was in need of immediate training especially having young children in the house. Adam is very knowledgable, and due to shelter in place offered training sessions via Zoom. I wasn't sure how training a dog would work out over video, but am very pleased with everything we have learned and our puppy's progress. We have had 3 sessions so far and have seen positive results with our puppy's behavior. Following the first session, we learned how to handle the play biting. That in itself has been a HUGE relief given the fact that we want to make sure he is trained properly as a family dog around young children. Our other sessions have included come, sit, down, off (no jumping) feeding, focus, going to his place, house training and leave it, greeting guests at the door. We still have practice to do between sessions, but are seeing great potential with our puppy in reinforcing these skills. Adam also sends us weekly "homework" on what we have worked on during the sessions so we have a summary to refer to as we practice mastering these skills with our pup. My husband and I reached out to Adam to help train our new puppy, Gia. Strengths: 1. Adam is an extremely patient listener - this is crucial IMO, since, as new pet-parent, you will find yourself getting worked up with a lot of things and will definitely appreciate someone that listens to you and tries to help with your questions and concerns. He is also available via text at times when you need his advise. 2. Adam has been incredibly flexible with scheduling training sessions. We requested to defer the last session until she is fully vaccinated to go outdoors and Adam instantly agreed. We truly appreciate his flexibility. 3. He is very good with providing additional resources to help us as new pawrents - how to keep her engaged, slow down her eating (she used to inhale her food, she doesn't anymore), use kong in a variety of different ways, prevent her from mouthing, etc 4. The desensitization process that Adam outlined for us worked remarkably well - in just 4 weeks, Gia is now okay riding in cars, with hair-dryers and us vacuum-ing the house around her (she was petrified of these things initially - now she has learnt to co-exist with them around her) 5. At 14 weeks, after having socialized her with some other pups, including her littermates - we have realized that Gia understands and follows more commands than most of them. We would like to thank Adam for training us to train her better. Areas of Improvement: 1. While our puppy has picked up amazingly well, some sessions felt rushed - for instance, 'close' cue at week 4 is still something that wasn't demonstrated quite in detail and we might need to work on it again during our last session. 2. The puppy schedule that Adam provided was very standard and not tailored to specific needs of our pup (also alludes to the price point mentioned below). Example - our puppy loves meeting new people but jumps up on them while greeting them. This is something my husband and I haven't been able to fix over the past 3-4 weeks. 3. We felt that the desensitization checklist is a laundry list of items that cannot be covered in 5 weeks. As a personal preference, we would have loved to see this as part of the continued learning portion beyond the training itself. 4. In addition to the handout which details steps for each command, it would be super helpful to get video tutorials to follow when training throughout the week on our own. 5. While we understand the importance of reviews, constantly reminding us to post a *positive* review before the end of all training sessions was overwhelming for us. !!! Subjective: We felt the training was pricey - $75 per session - this is our subjective opinion because we had read a lot of books and looked at a ton of training videos online in preparation for getting our first pup. As such, we found most of the basic commands redundant and repetitive. Calling all quarantine dog owners! Adam is awesome! Yes, even over zoom. I have had two zoom sessions for training my 12 week old pup named Hattie B! Found Adam thru yelp, and after reading through all the reviews and talking to him on the phone, we decided to give him a try. We got our little bundle of joy on March 21st. We named him Togo after the brave dog from the Disney movie (please watch if you haven't). Given the coronavirus situation all the puppy classes and socialisation sessions were shut down. Fortunately my husband and I are working from home, so that's a good thing as we didn't need to leave him with a pet sitter or a doggie day care. The only thing missing was to understand how to get started with a small pup (we got him at a tender age of 6 weeks). I reached out to Adam and he was so sweet, accommodating and understanding of the situation. He started us off on a puppy starter session via Zoom app (video conference app). We have been training our 2 Chow Chow puppies with Adam and I will give you my honest appraisal. His training methods are excellent. If you find a trainer who has outside experience and endorses positive reinforcement over punishment or compulsion then you may have a really nice start in your training and this what we found with Adam. The training there is very safe and very affordable. The puppies are learning boundaries and bite inhibition from these sessions. When the dogs play, there is a natural break in the play sessions.
