Rudest "manager" I've ever experienced!!! Went in to buy some feeder goldfish for my kid as she wanted fish but I wanted her to learn on feeders first. They are much more resilient than standard aquarium fish. I ask the kid near the tanks for a couple of scoops of feeders, maybe 20 or so. Punk starts demanding what size tank I have and what kind of fish. NONE of his business. I reiterate I just want feeders. He states hes the manager of the store and refuses to sell them to me. Goes on some weird rant about how the feeder tank is "thousands of gallons of water" and it's his responsibility to NOT sell me fish unless I tell him my tank size. I kept repeating they were feeder fish. He kept on about it being his responsibility to make sure the fish were going to be appropriately taken care of. FEEDER gold fish. In the end I just left and went to PetSmart where you're not grilled by some snot kid about feeder fish care. If my kid keeps with her fish project, I will certainly NEVER buy at Petco. Most infuriating Mother's Day experience ever. And their Bettas looked half dead as well. read more

While I adore the only groomer I trust at this location, yes La Donna is great. The level of customer service has been beyond pitiful. Sadly the only way to ensure your dog is groomed in a timely fashion is to pay extra. Zoom groom is now a thing. Why do we have to pay to watch our groomer take care of a family member? Perhaps because the manager of the store gives people dirty looks when we try to drop our beloved pets off during grooming salon hours that are incorrect in the door. read more

We had a horrible experience here. The sales lady was rude and very sarcastic. She refused to sell us a fish because she wanted to know exactly how we would take care of it! She said "I'm not going to sell this fish to you because it will die!" It was very eerie..she was odd. This is a groom review. I made an appointment for my labradoodle via the app on my phone and was quoted $90 (long hair cut and bath premium, nail clipping, and materials fees). My husband dropped her off so I don't know how that went but he had no complaints. A few hours later, I went t to pick her up after work. I went to check out and was told the total was $120. I would understand a $10 or $15 difference than what was quoted originally, but $30?? That's insane. I spoke with the groom manager, Ed(?), and felt like he was rude and condescending. I showed him the quote on my phone. He confirmed I did not have any extra services completed on my pup besides what I was quoted for originally. He offered no explanation about the drastic difference between the quote and the actual cost of the services and kept saying "fees have gone up since you booked". They should have honored the quoted price if that were the case and I wish I had refused to pay the $120 but I paid because I just wanted to go home after working a 12 hour shift and driving an hour in traffic. Our dog had some unevenness on her stomach and some irritation there as well. Also I had to touch up her face when we got home. BUT the haircut was just fine. I still tipped our groomer since it wasn't her fault her manager was being shady and rude.... All this to say, we will not be returning to this petco or probably any petco in the future. read more

This is by far the worst experience and weirdest of my life, I came in to purchase a gold fish for my tank, I currently have 3 gold fish in a 30 gallon tank and want a 4th and I was told I am NOT allowed to bc he's not LEGALLY allowed to sell me one unless I upgrade my tank. I said, I understand your concerns and I'll upgrade it later, but he refused me! A 29cent gold fish, but instead he wants me to spend $75 first to upgrade to a new tank. Todays lesson on how to lose a long time customer in 30 seconds. I have been coming here for a few years buying a months worth of individual cat food cans every time I come in. Prior to March 18 at 7pm every cashier I seen has given me a bulk discount on my purchase. Today the cashier who also claimed she was the manager told me she was not allowed to give me the discount even though the register had a button on the screen she could have pushed that would have allowed what the screen said was a $5 or $10 "gift". That said I left and didn't buy the food even after she had rung up all 30 cans. Good thing I know Pet Food Express in Danville offers a free can when you buy 5 so they now can get my business. Also there are too many options in the area so others may also get my business as well. And I hope as a manager she really feels having one of her employees now return all 30 cans of different varieties back to the shelves is a good use of time. read more

Service: Little slow with only 1 cashier working most of the time with a few other associates working around the sales floor. Brought our german shepherd longcoat female in for grooming on Sunday 9/7 as her birthday is coming up on 9/14 and we wanted to give her a birthday groom from a professional. She is 10 years old and has never had flea issues in the past. The following day we noticed her licking and biting herself. In her daily brushing today 9/12 we found several large fleas. She is a inside dog for the most part and we never take her to dog parks etc where she could play and possibly pick up fleas there. Since our property has never had a flea issue in my dogs 10 years and now we have a problem I can only deduct from this is she got infested at Petco San Ramon. I called Petco today to inform them of this and the manager brushed it off saying it's not possible for my dog to get fleas from another dog as they keep dogs separate and there is nothing he is willing to do about my dog's flea issue not even offering to refund or offer a flea killing treatment. The fact that there are dogs there continually with some having flea issues it is certainly possible that in the common areas some fleas could exist and jump on other dogs. AS a matter of fact when I left my dog there I noticed a pile of dog hair trimmings from another dog on the floor in the reception area that hadn't been vacuumed up yet. Mgr was gruff and rude in his handling of my issue with Petco. Petco has lost my future business. BTW the other employees at this store have always been professional. read more

Extremely small and cramped, and felt dirty and old inside. They also ran out of my dogs food for the longest time with no refills on shelves. Also feels very dark inside. The grooming was also a weird experience - we asked for medium cut and my dog practically came out bald? So bald you can see his little birth marks which are normally covered up by his hairs. He also came home sneezing a ton, whatever shampoo they used is very heavily scented and smells like a candle. read more

I have been to this location several times throughout the years and sadly, majority of the time I leave empty handed due to their small inventory. Additionally, the staff at this location tends to be more stand-offish; more than not, the staff I encounter will just look at me and walk away; I do not expect them to always greet or offer support, but the vibes I get aren't very welcoming. Do not buy your bird from Petco or any chain. They do not care about them nor do they have the expertise it takes to raise healthy birds. They have big birds in small glass enclosures. There is no place to climb around and interact with people. One cockatiel was sitting so sadly in a small area with no toys and no bars to climb on. They also had a conure that only has a couple bars to hang on in one little corner. He has no space and was obviously an active bird that wants to climb everywhere! This is the most cruel and heartbreaking way to keep birds. Disgusting Petco! You need to do better! read more

Let me start off with Cassidy and Michelle are two of the most awful inconsiderate people I have ever met. I showed up just before closing with my distraught daughter who just lost her first real pet, a snake. He had gotten wedged in between the glass and a poorly designed hinge from a tank that this Petco sold me. So I did whatever mother would and tried to replace the lost love with a new snake. I explained to them what had happened and they suggested a glass lid, and Cassidy said the glass lid was a bad idea and the snake could get out of the plastic opening, another poorly designed lid Petco sells. Then the best part, the two ladies proceeded with they "don't feel safe selling me a snake" until I fix the problem, also to which they could not provide a solution other than buy a different $$$ tank. But of course the salt didn't stop their on our open wound, they said, "we need to clock out in 20 minutes and we still have to close the registers." Obviously customer service skills are not a part of this Petco's requirement to hire personnel. I want these 2 to know that my daughter's tears are on them. I hope you sleep well tonight knowing you could have prevented her sleepless night by not accusing us of being "snake murderers". If you know the design of the tank is bad and the lid is worse, don't sell it! 1 star is too good for this star, you deserve 0! read more

We have appreciated Finn and his knowledge of reptiles as well as Guinea pigs. He helped steer our family toward a hairless "naked" Skinny Guinea pig who has captured our hearts. Gideon "Gids" eats veggies with us at mealtimes in a special tray on the server near the table and makes happy wheeking noises when fresh hay is being delivered. Finn has also been a wealth of perspective on Gids and his weepy eye as well as the need for extra vitamin C for skinnies. We are grateful for helpful staff and a place for what Gids needs. Very frustrating experience with PetCo Dublin today. Scheduled an appointment couple weeks ahead of time to the same location my dog gets his grooming. When he arrived for his appointment, was turned away for being too old. He had no change in his health and only few weeks older than his last visit. Squeaking hedgehogs for sale! Wow--What a nice group of people who work here! I checked out the store for the very first time, and was pleasantly surprised at how friendly everyone was. This was really a big plus for me. Every single person in the store was very courteous and friendly. That's the way to run a business! The nice lady in the aquatic section gave me a tour around the various fish and turtles, and then the store manager showed me around the rest of the store. She also explained the grooming services they have here. I asked several questions, and everyone was quite well-informed. The pleasant lady working in the aquatic section also told me about a marine Wildlife Center that I could visit in Sausalito. Wow--Are these people all marine biologists! I am impressed with the quality of staff who work here. They obviously enjoy what they are doing, and it shows up in their pleasant demeanor. I have a doberman at home who loves squeaker toys. They have a huge selection, including a big Hedgehog. The store manager was kind enough to demonstrate the squeaking Hedgehog for me. They have several aisles full of squeaker toys. Wow! My doberman would love this place, but I am afraid to bring her in, since I think she would be too wild. They also have a section for cat litter, where you can reuse your container. They have big scoops and you just bring your old container back in. This seems like a pretty good idea to me. Why not reuse those gigantic containers? It's not a huge store, but still had quite a nice selection. Plus the friendly folks made my visit here really pleasant. I bought one of those squeaker toys, but not the big hedgehog. My doberman doesn't like hedgehogs. In summary, a pleasant store staffed by pleasant people. I will be coming back. But I probably won't bring my doberman with me since she doesn't like hedgehogs. read more

This review is for the grooming salon. They usually do a fair job with my short haired pet. But today, as I was picking up my dog, I opened the door and a smaller who was about to get groomed almost slipped out. I saw the dog and reacted quick enough to block the exit. I thought I'd get an apology from the staff about the mishap or even a thank you for preventing a situation but instead Kaylee (Coleman, which she repeated to me about 3 times after the incident) snapped on me saying "that's why we have the policy of one dog inside the salon at a time"... ooo k. To be honest, I don't think it was necessary to snap on my for that. I couldn't even see into the salon! The decals on the windows actually prevent customers from looking inside. I tried to tell her but she wouldn't even make eye contact with me and kept cutting another dogs hair. I let the manager know of my exchange with her. She also watched her come up to me while paying to hand me her business card (which funny enough had another salon's address on it). I told him she may have been stressed out or had a long day and understood how challenging it could be working with pets and the public. But I also made sure to tel him that it may have been a good coaching moment to let her know the importance of tone and language when speaking to customers. Wasn't pleased with all the attitude. Not sure if I'll continue to frequent the grooming salon. Maybe it's time to support a local grooming business. read more

I had a very bad experience with the General Manager at Petco located at 2005 Crow Canyon Pl, San Ramon, CA, and his name is Eduard Topchiyan. On 6/26, at around 4.30pm, I took my daughter to this pet store wanting to get a pair of Molly fish. After I waited to be my turn, I told Eduard I want to get a pair of Molly and then he started to ask me questions about how many fishes do you have, how long do you have your tank for, etc, which is none of his business! After answering his questions, which I feel as if he is questioning a suspicion person, he said your fishes in your tank will die and I'm not selling you my fish! I was shocked! I told him that I know what I'm doing because I have 30 years experience to run a fish tank from 20 gal to a 5 footer! He just turned around and walked away. I never have been treated like this in any shops with such disrespect and impolite manner! How can Petco appoints Eduard as a General Manager representing Petco? His unprofessional manner could only drive Petco customers away and, at least, I won't return to this shop at all! read more

This store is like a step back in time before Walmarts came in the scene with all their efficiency and standardized look. I'm not sure why but this Petco doesn't look like others that I've been to. It reminds me of a mom and pop shop. I'm not sure of the franchise rules or ownership of Petco but this one makes me imagine that they are independently owned with some wiggle room in terms of rules of the franchise. I went in for a stake to drive into the ground for poochie while at the park. A worker there quickly took me to where I needed to go and I saw the options quickly. Its a pleasant place to be the pet store. I have to admit I wandered a bit and looked at the aquariums and enjoyed the fish scene for a few moments. I take my two doggos here for grooming. I especially love the one groomer and she is always very gentle with my fur babies. My little guy is afraid to have his nails done but he comes out of there as happy as can be. My large dog freaks out during any grooming but they know how to handle her there. I also enjoy being able to pop over to the store after their grooming and pick them up a treat or toy. It makes for a convenient one stop shop. The service in the store often leaves something to be desired which is why I give the 4 star rating. It is often difficult to find a sales associate or if you do they are not very helpful. The lines are usually pretty long when they get busy because they only have one person at the checkout register. read more

I typically prefer another pet food chain, that has local roots, but Petco is a perfectly acceptable option. It's convenient for me to stop in during or after work hours and they stock the Natural Balance canned cat food that my kitties prefer. If you sign up for their rewards card, you can earn points towards a $5 coupon. Their prices are competitive with other chains, but they don't have too many sales on the food I buy, which I find to be the case elsewhere. Petco will do, when I need something close by. Pros of this location: Clean, friendly staff, well stocked (they always have what I need), pet grooming services available Cons: They usually only keep one register open so not a great option if you're in a rush, the parking lot can get especially chaotic during lunch hours, aisles are a little narrow, especially if you are trying to push a cart through. It's a decent option-not my favorite pet food store, but also average enough. read more

Worst grooming experience ever! I booked the appointment at 11:15am, when I got there around 2:15pm, the groomer just began cutting the hair. I didn't know what happened to my little one in the past three hours, he looked exhausted, scared, and timid when I picked him up. When I saw him, his fur got shaved so thin that you could see his skin through the fur. He was also very quiet and tired at home. He was very emo and kept shaking even though the house heater was on. Came by to get some new puppy food, was undecided between three different bags of puppy food, and the worker Taylor helped me pick out the best one for me by going over the difference between them . Its nice when the workers really care and want to take time and help out the customers. Im all about customer service and making sure clients are always taken care of. They were very apologetic and didn't charge me for the service. I probably shouldn't have taken her back but figured people makes mistakes so what the heck...we had another appointment today.
