Kate is AWESOME! She's like the 'cat whisperer' for cat people. I couldn't believe how quickly my shy cat came running to greet her the first time we met. Kate was helpful to offer pre trip advice, things that I didn't think of while we were preparing to leave the cats for a week. Kate spent time with the cats every day, entertaining & playing with them. She sent us lots of photos, which was nice because we missed them. Kate is amazing! I needed someone to watch my fur baby while my family and I went out of town. From the moment Kate stepped into my house I knew she was the one. My gsd is so cute but is reactive. Auntie Kate, as my guy, loves to call her, took care of him for 8 10 hours days while my daughter got married and a family reunion took place. Many of those days she also cared for the bride's dog. I just don't have enough words to describe the incredible way she cared and calmed them. As a bonus, the way she cared and calmed ME! I left everyday assured of my Wally's happiness during a crazy busy, very different, week for us. Shes a pro's pro. I can't recommend her magical ways enough. Kate is A M A Z I N G. After interviewing a bunch of petsitters, we met with and decided Kate was perfect for taking care of our furbaby. A few weeks after scheduling her services, our kitty became ill with cancer. Kate was in constant contact with us, providing emotional support, for the 3 months fighting the illness (mind you - she hadn't done any petsitting for us - just 1 meeting). Unfortunately our kitty passed away and she was there to support us through that as well. We adopted a pair of new furbabies recently and when time came to go on vacation, Kate was obviously our only choice in petsitters to call. She took care of them for 3 nights and the kitties were calm and happy upon our return. The house was in one piece and they seemed really content. I was thrilled with my pet sitting/walking services provided for my puppy, Atticus Luca. Kate is the best! We have worked with other cat sitters in the past for our previous cat, and for our current cats when they were kittens. The sitters were mostly good, but Kate really raised the bar for our expectations. Our kitties grew up to be very strong willed and difficult, but Kate took their cattitudes in stride. She worked with us before our trip, coaching us on how to put the cats more at ease for her visits (they have been terrible to all visitors recently). We were able to travel guilt-free knowing Kate could handle our cats. She texted us daily updates with photos and videos of her visits so we could see that our cats were okay. One really gave her the cold shoulder, but by the end of the trip had warmed up to her (a feat that has eluded relatives and friends who have tried to befriend our little monster). Kate knows cats, and we wouldn't trust anyone else with our fur babies (demons?). read more

I met with Kate for a home prior to booking a dog walking session and it went great! She is so easy to talk to and truly cares about your pet! She is very knowledgeable and you can tell she is experienced and trustworthy. After meeting with her I booked a 30 minute dog walking session for mid day. Kate at Pawtails is absolutely wonderful. She took care of my pooch for ten days and he was fit and happy when I returned home. I loved that at our first meet and greet there was an information sheet she requires all new clients to fill out that asked all the relevant questions so nothing is forgotten (yes, she even makes sure you allow your dog to drink tap water...I do). I received daily pictures, emails, and updates about how my dog was doing, fun things they saw on the walk, etc. It was perfect. I highly recommend her to anyone! read more

Really sorry to have to post this, but my totally negative experience with Kate obligates me to let others know. Based on the Humane Society's recommendation as The Best Petsitter, I contacted Kate in early July to set up a pet sit in September. After an initial pleasant phone call, communication deteriorated to unreturned phone calls, emails with promises to call and set up a visit which never happened, I finally had to let her know I had to move on. This occurred over a FOUR week period which has put me in jeopardy of being able to find a reliable pet sitter for my trip in September. She apparently had some personal issues going on and I would have understood if she told me right away but to delay me for a month is unacceptable. read more

I cannot say enough positive things about Kate. Our older rescued dog has severe abandonment issues, and under Kate's care we consistently came home to a happy dog instead of an anxious one. Kate was reliable and loving, and more than once came to our rescue with little notice, including when our son was born and she sat at the ready. We are so sad to have left San Diego and Kate, but cannot recommend her highly enough. She made leaving our dear dog at home as easy as it could be knowing she's be well cared for, and there'd never be a negative surprise when we returned. Trust Kate!
