I usually don't take the time to write reviews, but after our experience with Sara, I truly feel she deserves one, especially for all the dog lovers out there who might be as nervous as we were. This was the very first time we left our 1-year-old dog with someone. He's almost 80 pounds of pure energy, a big, happy, very enthusiastic boy so choosing the right person felt incredibly important. I was anxious and very cautious about who we could trust. From day one, Sara exceeded every expectation. She didn't just "watch" our dog -- she worked with him every single day with so much passion, patience, and love. When he came home after two weeks, the difference was remarkable. He was calmer, more focused, and able to control his excitement much better. Walking him used to be a struggle -- he pulled constantly and tried to grab everything he saw on the street. Now, our walks are so much easier and more enjoyable. Of course, there's no magic in dog training -- consistency is key, and we continue to reinforce what he learned -- but his biggest issue, jumping on people, improved dramatically. My 11 month old pitbull/husky/german shepherd mutt of puppy just finished almost 4 weeks of board and train with Sara. Rocky is a good dog but has boundless energy he isn't sure what to do with despite the endless exercise we have. He would pull my other (much smaller) dogs leash, jump on me and play bite. He is super friendly and would pull towards every dog and person he saw. He likes to "scream bark" when he wants something and couldn't be in public without causing a scene. At home he is a shoplifter and always finding items to rip up. My other dog is much older and he doesn't understand when she is "done". He always means well but was just lacking any manners. The difference in Rocky after training with Sara has been amazing. He has only been home one week, and he's still a silly, energetic puppy but his ability to listen and understand is all new. No more leash biting. He walks at my heels, passes dogs and people without pulling and when I say leave it, he leaves it. When I tell him to go to "place" he goes to his bed. Even when he would prefer to bother his sister. Certainly depending on the stimulus I might have to say it more than once! He stays while I pick up poop, take off my sweatshirt or pause a walk. Today in a store someone complimented how well behaved he was while he walked at my side and patiently waited for me to pay. He is young and we have lots of practice to do but now we both have the skills for him to become an exceptionally well behaved dog. I missed him so much but Dog Tired sent me daily updates, photos and videos that prepped me for what I would need to do at home. I used the videos to match my tone to Sara's which has helped continue the training at home seamlessly. I could tell he was having a great time, working hard and was being loved which made it easier. It was worth every dollar spent, myself and my dogs are all happier for it. I will continue to use Sara for boarding when I'm out of town. I'll be happy he's with his training family when I'm away. They try to keep your pet with the same person but sometimes they switch them off. In ~1.5 years, Pippin probably had about 3-4 different walkers all on rotation and he loved all of them (judging by his excitement when they pick him up - though he had a proclivity for one guy in particular, so we always requested him when possible). I was in San Diego for work for just a couple months and I knew the transition would be hardest on my aussie cattle dog mix, Shumai. She's very active and sassy and needs a lot of nature time (particularly off-leash) to be her most content self. But thank goodness I found Dog Tired! Every picture I received in her reports showed her the HAPPIEST I had ever seen, in the most gorgeous setting, Fiesta Island. And it speaks so much to their capabilities as pack leaders that Shumai was apparently on her best behavior with them, even more so than me. I brought my senior dog in for a train and board. Because he was older, I was hopeful but also a bit nervous for the outcome or if training would even be a viable option. From the start, Sara was easing my worries. I'm not there with my pup and from the start she eased any concerns: She worked with my crazy schedule, sent photos and videos of him happy, but also training /progress, and overall was just an amazing experience. I've had him over other dog training facilities, and I never felt the same support and structure with teaching me, as well as they taught my dog. I've been instilling his trainings on our walks and outings, the biggest thing for me was his aversion to small dogs, and it was the greatest feeling to have him be able to successfully breakaway from fixating, and actually just enjoy his outing. Dog Tired is an awesome company! Our Rottweiler Hugo is definitely a handful. He did an intensive training bootcamp with the very best trainer in San Diego and we've been socializing him since the beginning. However, Rotties are by nature very high maintenance pups and this one especially needs CONSTANT attention, activity, and training. Even as I write this review, he is starting at me and whining because it's been more than 20 minutes since he's been outside or been given a command! Due to his nature, I knew that a regular doggy day care drop off site wouldn't be enough for him. Enter Dog Tired, a company that takes your pup on all day long outdoor adventures! They pick him up early in the morning and usually take him to Fiesta Island to splash around in the water and play with his doggie friends all day long. They even pick him up when it's raining and forgo the beach to go on hikes instead. After they drop him off, they give him water and dry him off with a towel. At the end of the day, they always send an email with high quality pictures. He apparently has a favorite friend, a female Rottie that they call his "girlfriend!" Haha. We find this so interesting because he usually avoids other dogs. It's funny to know that your furry friend has an actual life outside of you and the home. Hugo comes home exhausted, and that lasts for the rest of the day until his long evening walk. Dog Tired has positively affected us in so many ways. Thank you! read more

I have a Standard Poodle who started leash reactivity as young as 4 months old she was literally triggering my anxiety. I would get nervous leaving the house with her and it got to the point where I considered rehoming her but I couldn't she was already part of the family. We started off with Petsmart (i don't recommend) which consisted of training inside the store in an enclosed area with NO room or distractions. On the other hand DTSD is held outside in the REAL world where your pup can experience different things each time like people, kids, traffic, dogs, and even squirrels lol. The first day of canine good citizen everyone in class including the trainers can tell you how reactive our Darla girl was. She would bark at dogs passing by, she would bark at her classmates during training, and just any fast movements. By the end of class she had improved so much! She passed her test and we kept practicing. Soon after we signed up for the community canine citizen class and WOW she's less reactive like wayyy less we can pass by a dog and she just stares at them occasionally she wants to bark/react but its okay we will get there! If you're debating whether or not you should spend money on training, just do it! You create a bonding experience with your pet and you both learn. As most huskies are, Brody was stubborn and would not listen to any recall commands and could not be trusted off leash whatsoever.
