Samantha at Pawville did a fabulous job grooming my miniature poodle today. My little guy is disabled and does not have the use of his hind legs. This means that many groomers are not willing to take him on since he can't stand on his own. But he's used to being groomed and the groomer where I used to live always told me that he was sweet and well-behaved. Samantha was just wonderful with him today. I was very nervous because of terrible experiences with other groomers in the area that I had tried. But Samantha was very patient and listened attentively to all my concerns. She was ready to take him when I walked in and he was ready to go at the exact time she told me he would be ready. Pricing was in line with what other's have charged. Samantha and her husband are wonderful! Our dog literally gets so incredibly excited to go to the groomer... which I can't figure out for the life of me bc he is crated (he isn't at home) AND bathing/brushing him at home is a nightmare. Safe to say it must be their personal touch. He is a Portuguese Water Dog (so have to groom every 8-10 weeks) and he always comes back looking great. Very receptive to tweaks when we decided we liked his ear fur shorter and head less round. and now as a repeat customer, they know exactly what we want which is super helpful so either me or my husband can do the drop offs without having to attempt to describe what he should look like instead of the overgrown fluff ball standing in front of them. read more

Horrible. I've taken my dog to several pet groomers and all of them did a wonderful job. This place basically shaved my dog without aesthetic creativity and the groomer justified it by saying his hair was very knotted. Other groomers put more effort to ensure my dog looked pleasing. In addition, they muzzled my dog because he growled and of course charged extra for it. No groomers in the past had any complaints about my dog growling. If anything, they said my dog was very pleasant to work with. Pawville is expensive compared to other groomers. At least $30 more. I will not be going there again. read more

Samantha is the best groomer I've found for our 11 year old golden doodle. She is professional, skilled, and pleasant to interact with. Her rates are reasonable, and she responds promptly when you ask for an appointment. Our dog gets very nervous at the groomer but Samantha and her employees are very warm and I feel fine leaving our dog with her. I have known of Samantha and the quality of her work for a long time. She is an excellent groomer who listens to her clients and more importantly she is kind and respectful to animals she works with! For those of us who have pets that need to be groomed often, it is very important to find someone who will treat your pet respectfully and not cause any trauma! I am very happy she finally has her own place to groom as we have followed her to some "not so great places" where she was grooming....mostly places that were not clean. We have a white standard poodle who is eight now and have been to many groomers in the Charlottesville area as well as even taking our poodle out of town to be groomed. My dog has never had grooming here but I have used the self service dog wash twice now. The doggy salon was as clean as I would expect for a doggy salon. There was fur on the ground as the groomer was in the process of trimming a dog, but otherwise the place was clean and had plenty of space. The self service tub is great! It has hydraulic lift that you can adjust to your comfort level. No sore back for me! The $15 covers shampoo and towels. They also have a nice blow drier. My dog was much cleaner and dryer than when I do it at home, and no clean up! The owners (I assume it was the owners inside) were very nice and I felt welcome. Definitely recommended. read more

I wish I could give minus stars. The groomer destroyed my dog's coat, after assuring me she knew what she was doing, AND my providing pictures of the breed appropriately groomed. The short body was one thing, but she removed his eyebrows and gouged the hair on his head down to the skin. Not only that, his scrotum was shaved so closely, the vet had to put him on prednisone for a skin infection. AND she never responded to my emailed complaints, and certainly didn't offer me a refund. NEVER EVER GO HERE IF YOU VALUE YOUR DOG'S APPEARANCE. read more

First trip to Samantha and I am very pleased. Her neat grooming of my shih Tzu is one of the best she has had. The trimming around her face is very even and she managed to get all 4 legs done beautifully--something Annie doesn't usually let folks do! Samantha is the ONLY groomer we've found that really knows how to groom a doodle. We found her three years ago, have followed her and are delighted that she has established her own pet spa on North 29 (near Target and in between a natural pet store and a vet - how perfect). My sister drives down from D.C. to have Samantha groom her mini-labradoodle because she was so frustrated with mangled grooming and high prices. Samantha's just getting started so the spa is a bit bare-bones, but don't be put off - she knows her stuff! read more
