We were looking forward to trying this place. We love Thai and read great reviews here. Sad to say- It was awful For us. We went on Thursday june 23,2022. We put in our to go order over an hour before we got there to be ready on time when we were on our way home from the beach. We don't live in nokomis but it is on our way home. We waited at least a half hour for our food. So about 1.5 hours to prepare the food to go? Whatever, we are not that impatient. There was someone behind my husband going off on the staff about his order (that wasn't prepared in 15 minutes. He was told 15 minutes for his food and it wasn't ready.) We didn't complain at all. My husband patiently waited inside. I waited in the car. We got soups, salad and rice for our family of 4. We found worms in our Tom yum soup. I didn't eat mine after my husband found the worms at the bottom of his. I threw mine out. One son didn't eat his rice. One son did. My husband ate his entire meal before finding worms. Needless to say, my husband and the one son were extremely Ill after eating the food. My husband vomited all night long and it came out the other end violently the next day too. We didn't call or complain because we will never eat there again and don't want a credit for future dining. I've never seen worms in my food before. So freaking Gross. I can't help but wonder if this was intentional and meant to go to the man freaking out on the staff behind my husband. Awful experience. read more

Okay, we ate here and the food was decent, but mentally I couldn't enjoy it, because I kept thinking how dirty the place was. I didn't want to imagine the condition of the kitchen. There was a terrible odor at the entry , the bathrooms had mechanical issues, but the doors, walls, cushions, etc. needed a scrubbing. I saw the waitress spray a table to clean it, so that made me feel a little better. The glasses, flatware, and plates looked clean. We didn't get sick, so that's a bonus. I think it would be to their benefit to close for two-three days and CLEAN top to bottom! read more

Why are there two very good Thai places in the Nokomis area while I could find none in Miami? Paya Thai Curry was empty when I arrived for an early dinner. I was worried that they were closed as the sign outside said they were about to take a week long holiday. I ordered Chicken Satay and Panang Curry with chicken-medium level heat. The Satay was better than average and I was hoping for better. The peanut sauce was a little bland and had no heat. The Panang Curry was fantastic. Wonderful warmth and great flavors. Since they were closing for the week and I am staying in Nokomis for only this week, I order another serving of Panang Curry to go. It was wonderful the next day with a gentle re-heating. I've previously thought that the best Thai in the US is in the Seattle / Bellevue Washington area. This rivals the best I have had there. read more

This is a fantastic restaurant in Nokomis. Have driven by so many tines saying we have to try but has always been so many cars in the parking lot.. I rdered online because I thought it would be impossible to get in a small restaurant on Easter Sunday . I used their online ordering button which takes you to a 3rd party . Menu is easy to read. Food was ready as promised when I arrived . Pleasant gentleman at the front greeted me. Food super hot and I like the fact they package their take out in recyclable brown boxes . Ordered Pad Thai chicken, Drunken noodles with chicken , fresh rolls with shrimp and the spicy Tom soup ( as is no meat or tofu) ordered everything medium . I cant imagine what hot is or thai hot. Because I was sweating a bit with every bite.. Wish that I had taken pictures before eating everything. Portions were very large . Delicious authentic Thai. Not many restaurants win me over with their Pad Thai. Paya Thai certainly did. I cant wait to eat in the restaurant. There was a problem with my card being charged double for my order . They were closed on Monday, so I called Tuesday. I spoke with the son . He respectfully apologized and said he would contact the company and call me back . This was our first time visit to Paya Thai Curry and we we were not diassappointed. The menu had a good variety of Thai dishes with several menu dishes we have never seen or heard of and that was actually nice! We started off with an order of fried dumplings in which the waitress said they are made in house. The dumpling looked and tasted homemade. You can order them steamed or fried and they come stuffed with shrimp, imitation crab meat, ground pork, scallion and water chestnuts and Shiitake mushrooms. They were very good! Next we had Tom Yum Soup with chicken which was served nice and hot and had a robust flavor of lemongrass. Next I had Green Curry and my wife had Pad Thai. I ordered my Green Curry spicy hot and unbelievably it arrived at the perfect spicy hotness. My wifes Pad Thai was we believe the best flavorful Pad Thai we have had down here in these neck of the woods. I know this is our own personal opinion but we have tried a lot of Pad Thai in and around Venice, PC & Sarasota. Bye the way my Green Curry was very flavorable and loaded with vegetables. Absolutely the best Thai food that I've had in the Sarasota area since Taste of Asia became more of a grab & go place. Thai is my FAVORITE! The food here is incredibly fresh and made to order. The vegetables were bright & vibrant. The entrees created with perfectly flavorful sauces. Our group had Vegan Pad Thai, Vegan pineapple fried rice, Massaman - chicken curry dish and a fish special. We all raved about the food. However, service was incredibly slow and a bit confusing. The server made some mistakes in both understanding our order and in creating separate checks. It took over an hour to get our food. Nonetheless, we're happily retired living in paradise where others vacation so we don't allow things like slow or inaccurate service to annoy us. We were thrilled to eat delicious vegan food where our meat-eating friends were equally thrilled. I would highly recommend giving this place a try - but consider going on a weekday. We were there at prime time on a Saturday night. It was packed (another sign of outstanding food!)! read more

Food was Very Very Good! I had the duck noodle soup, it was excellent! My husband had a red curry, also very good! It's one of the more authentic flavors you will find in the area, not only for Nokomis/Venice but also for Sarasota. It's hard to find yummy authentic flavors without so much sugar in the curries. This place has the balance though- great job! We've enjoyed it several times and will be back. Ambiance isn't great unfortunately but not horrible, I would describe it as a diner style/ very casual. The best Thai place in Nokomis/Venice/Englewood area. We've search for a good Thai place for a year and so glad to find this diamond in a rough. They've just opened when we went for our first time. Their papaya salad, curry dishes, soups, and dessert (sticky rice w/ mango and Thai donuts) are so delicious! This place is a must try when you are in the area and you will be hooked like us! There are quite a few Thai places in the area, but many of them are disappointing. Paya, on the other hand, is fantastic. The food is fresh and made with love. The owners are incredibly sweet, and you can't help but root for them to succeed. I tried the chicken wings app, and the breading was thin, crispy, and full of flavor. The Thai Basil stir fry is full of veggies and has a flavorful sauce that is light. I recommend this joint for lunch or dinner any day of the week! read more

The only thing I found non-optimal was the onions In The curry were a little tough, but that did not stop me from eating everything. I was in the mood for Thai and saw this on Yelp. I love Thai restaurants and could care less if they are fancy or no frills-I am there for the food. My husband and I both absolutely loved the food. I ordered Tom Yum soup and it was perfect. Also had the Panaang Curry with chicken. Hubby had Cashew Chicken and Thai iced tea. Everything was excellent. Something really notable is most Thai restaurants have smaller portions-NOT THIS PLACE! My small soup was a decent sized bowl and our entrees were huge! I will never leave this place hungry. We arrived at 4:55 and the door opened at 5:00 on a week day. The place is not very big but within 20 minutes, 4 other groups arrived and the restaurant was already half full. There are two tables outside too. I noticed people arriving for takeout too. I very much look forward to eventually trying everything on the menu as we are new to the area. read more

We have been wanting to stop for the last 4 winters, I am soo glad I finally did and disappointed that I did not before. Had no idea what to expect. I stopped at lunch time for a take out order. I had not phoned ahead. The place was full of business causal diners which was wonderful to see. I was in my gym clothes and felt underdressed. Not that you need to "dress up" but I won't come in a tee shirt to dine in. It's more upscale not stuffy kind of place. I was greeted immediately even though it was a full house. I ordered spring rolls, green curry with veggies, cashew nut stir fry (no garlic, hubby). Food came out quickly. Everything had excellent flavor. They included two cups of an amazing flavor chicken rice soup which I was not expecting. Added surprise. My curry heat was spot on and husband enjoyed his stir fry.
