This was our 3rd(ish) stop on a NYE bus bar crawl and I really liked this place. Their food looked like it would be great. We didn't get it that late at night but I do want to go back for dinner sometime. They offer special cocktails and even have $20 bottles of Prosecco which our group enjoyed vs. ordering many drinks. Had my first visit to this establishment earlier this evening and will definitely be back! Super knowledgeable and friendly staff who are never pretentious and always helpful. I'm usually a Jameson rocks guy, but it was nice to find some other superior alternatives at a similar price point. Also, I accidentally spilled a very little bit of my Double Mountain Gypsy Stumper IPA pint on the way back to finish reading my book at my table, and someone from the bar staff came out to my table and calmly cleaned up the mess I had made instantly without any judgement for my clumsiness. Fun hidden gem with great ambiance! My boyfriend and I stopped by here for a few drinks before we left for the airport and we were sad our stay wasn't longer! There's plenty of outdoor and indoor seating, as well as a few places next door to grab a bite. This bar also has a great variety of whiskeys, beers, and cocktails. We loved how open the bar itself is, although we did have a little trouble finding the entrance from the main road - make sure to enter from the main patio in the back of the building! Overall, we enjoyed our stop here and look forward to visiting again the next time we're in town! read more

I love it when a higher-end whiskey bar is run with a dive bar attitude and the tenders don't give you a hard time about ordering the cheaper whiskeys. They also have a good selection of beers on tap, and it's pretty sweet that they share a communal space with some really great food options. Staff is nice and the patio on a sunny day is even nicer. read more

I want to like this place because it has an outdoor firepit and it is so close to my house. I came in with 3 other friends and we were almost completely ignored among a crowd of maybe 8 total people in the entire bar? Kind of messed up... This is by far my favorite whiskey place in Portland. The bartenders know their whiskey and every time I've been here, they've pointed me in the right direction with something new. Their taplist is great too (I always seem to come here with at least one person who doesn't drink whiskey). Nice aesthetic for a bar, open, spacious, well lit place that maintains a comfortable evening mood. Decent menu with very reasonable happy hour. Less than stellar service. Bartender doesn't bother, noted multiple customers having to jump up and down during a slow night to get the barkeep's attention. Great atmosphere with an amazing array of whiskey without the pretension of the Multnomah Whiskey Library. I'd like to see the drinks rotate more as the few times I've been I've seen the same offerings (could be completely wrong on this). Paydirt has a great selection of drinks, namely whiskey. Tons of seating including a nice outdoor seating area with plenty of picnic tables and a couple fire pits if it gets cold. They even sell smores kits for roasting so you can roast marshmellows over the fire. I haven't been here when they had a DJ but it sounds like that happens often. Overall a chill little local bar that I'll be hitting up more often especially while the weather is good. read more

Great atmosphere, really good whiskey selection... but that's where the positive ends. Every time I've been here the service is absolute shit. Staff are super hipster and too cool to notice people standing at the bar, waiting to order. They screw up my order more than the McDonalds down the street, and all I ordered was two beers -- nothing fancy or hard. I won't be back. I'm usually super forgiving and give a place a few chances, because I know some days are rough and you shouldn't judge a place before giving them a second chance. But Paydirt is just too poor to give them a 6th or 7th chance. read more

We recently had our a rehearsal brunch at Paydirt during our wedding weekend. They were quick and helpful during the preparation process and extremely accommodating on the day of our event. They opened an hour early for our group, allowed us to bring in some of our own decorations, and helped set up tabs at the other Zipper restaurants for us. Kind of a dive bar plus. Casual, intimate, not too loud. They have a nice selection of whiskeys and lots of semi-outdoor seating. They place is next to a couple endocytosed food truck-y style restaurants, both of which are pretty good. Met up with a group of friends for drinks. Paydirt had great service that was quick and courteous, and I was enjoying my IPA within minutes of arriving. Plenty of room for both small and large groups - beware that a lot of it is outside, so be mindful of the weather. read more

Paydirt is my goto, everyday bar. The staff is great. The selection is scalable, so I can buy a $2 can of something on an off day and a bottle of bubbles or some great whisky/whiskey when I'm on. The brown liquor selection is pretty deep, and while the focus is on American whiskey, they also have some solid scotch finds and a good number of Japanese bottles. It's easy enough to go there just for a drink, but it's also pretty easy to grab some food from the other spots in the Zipper and have a whole meal. Seating can get a little tight in the bar itself, but with the large common area and the picnic tables outside you can usually sit even when it's busy. Their Old Fashioned is a point of pride, and it's fantastic. read more
