Booked a car here online the other day for $19.00 for 3 day's. Not a bad deal. However after being nickel and dime with all the surcharges, taxes and extra insurance all the sudden that $60 blew up to a whopping $255 & change and that was for a tiny little ford fiesta! I have to tell you that it took three (3) cars checking out before one was acceptable. The first one was dirty, the second one had a loud thump and the steering wobbled at 50 mph. Both were returned...at a considerable loss of time by the way. The agent who was very apologetic, found us an Avis car which we had for two weeks and was fine. I guess you had better recognize that the car you get might be tired and worn before renting here. If you have time to try a few on before taking them...have at it. It's true. You get what you pay for. To be clear - this is for "payless airprt parking" which I believe is the same place as the car rental, but I could be wrong. It was the cheapest I found ($7/day when you book online). They were efficient, however, the woman who was at the "office" when I returned at 9:30 pm after a long weekend, was less than pleasant. I asked her if I was "all set" with my car, as the bill was inside it and it was running, and she hurriedly said yes, then answered the phone (and presumably when she was done speaking with a customer) hung up and muttered, "You Moron!" It didn't seem to matter that I was within earshot. I can only imagine what she said about me. read more

I'm somewhat surprised to read the other bad reviews, because I've never had a bad experience parking here. - Prices are by far the cheapest you can find - currently starting at $7 per day. - They shuttle me to the airport within just a few minutes of my arrival (I have a bad habit of being late for flights). - When I return, they pick me up within a few minutes. - My car is started and warmed up when I get there. - They're always generally friendly and professional. I just learned that they have new ownership and a new name, but the same good service and low prices. They're now called "Best Value Airport Parking". read more

I reserved a car through payless from my trip from Florida up to Providence. I understood that I could use my debit card to pay as long as I had proof of return flight, which was also posted on a placecard at the front desk. I got the counter and gave the women my name and license and my debit card. She proceeded to tell me that if I wanted to use my debit card I would have to pass a credit check. I have never heard from any other rental car company that I have used that I have to pass a credit check to rent a car! The women had an attitude with me the whole time! I told her she could try even though I was sure I wouldn't pass as I have student loans I am currently paying off. She tells me I didnt pass the check and there was nothing she could do. I was furious! No where when I made this reservation does it say I have to pass a credit check, if it did I would have never made the reservation in the first place. I proceeded to go to another rental car Alamo, where I had no prior reservation and was able to use my debit card, and it ended up being cheaper than what my reservation through payless was for, and receive excellent service from the man behind the counter, and when I got upstairs to get my car they upgraded me to a better car for free! Payless you are doing something wrong! I know in the future I will never use your company again. read more

I pre paid for a two week rental months ago and due to a death in my family ,I had to delay my arrival by 24 hours and even though I wanted to pick up my rental within my prepaid time frame and keep it only within my prepaid time frame I as told by the corporate customer service too bad so sad ,that even though I prepaid months ago for the rental unless I picked it up by the end of the business day on scheduled pick up date,I would lose the car reservation and the 500 dollar prepayment. I called twice to ensure they had the vehicle I needed for the following day. I was assured they did and at a very fair rate. When I arrived they informed me that they didn't have the vehicle we agreed upon but could rent me a similar one for 3 times the price. I then went to Avis and they helped me get what I needed at a price point that was fair. I will never attempt to use the company again. read more

Having done a decent amount of travel, I've visited a few airport parking centers in my days. While Payless does provide shuttle service to the airport there is no protective covering to drive under. This might not sound like a huge deal...but when it is torrentially pouring and your 8 months pregnant it is. You might payless for parking but you get less in ammenities.. , I experienced horrendous service, attitude and a total lack of customer care. I arrived from Florida at PVD airport. There were no customers at the rental counter, in fact most of the other companies wsere also empty. I provided 'Ed" with my name, ID, credit card and offered to show him the confirmation email. He began to process my rental, repeatedly attempted to have me upgrade at additional cost to a Jeep, even lowering the upgrade fee after I repeatedly declined. He then tried to rent a VW bug. I explained that I had reserved a mid size and that is what I wanted. He repeatedly said lets see what he could find and after several minutes finally said that he had a Kia Forte. He completed the paperwork, repeatedly trying to have me purchase a fuel option, and subsequently told me the car was in B8. My wife and I took our luggage, went up one level into the garage, no employee was in the area, and located space B8. There was no car. I checked the area and could not find the car with the specified license etc. By Florida standards, it was a cold day in Providence and My wife waited at the space, while I attempted to locate an employee. I found the person near the exit and he advised that he cannot do anything and I would have to see an employee near the distant lighted booth. I hurried to the booth and it was empty. I noticed a driver leaving and I called and whistled, asking him if he was an employee. He said he was and I explained that there was no car. He said I would have to go back downstairs and see Ed. I apparently appeared unhappy and he repeatedly asked if I was sure I was at the right space. He looked at my contract and again said I would need to see Ed. I ran back to my wife, explained and she said she would be ok with the luggage. I went back downstairs and spoke with Ed. there was still no one at the counter. More than once, he asked if I was sure I was at the right space. I explained that I had checked the immediate area and the space, and there was no car. After more questioning, saying he could not understand why the car wasn't there, he again attempted to rent me a VW bug. I again said that I did not want a bug and simply wanted the midsize car I had reserved (I am 6'5" tall). He subsequently filled out the papers for a VW Jetta. I hurried back to my chilled wife, found the car and left. While driving the car, the check engine light came on, when I went to fuel, I observed that there was no fuel cap. Upon returning the car, there was no one at the car return, a sign said to document the mileage and fuel amount and return to the rental counter. I advised 'Ed' of the cap and engine light, he stated that some cars don't have fuel caps, asking if the cover had a flat spot, it did and he said that then it doesn't have fuel cap. I have rented cars throughout the world. Renting from your company was my worst experience. While sending a customer to an empty space may happen, not having someone near to immediately assist or not trying to immediately correct the issue or perhaps improve it, is totally unacceptable. I believe this is the first time I have rented from Payless. At PVD all the cars are at the same building and so I made the mistake of trying your company, to save a few dollars. I don't know why 'Ed' repeatedly attempted to have me pay for an upgrade or kept pushing the VW bug, if there was no midsize, he should have said so and provided the appropriate car or upgrade. My time, my energy, my wife's comfort and decent customer care would have been worth paying a few dollars more. This example of how your company does business, indicates that it doesn't want mine. I rented a car in providence June 18-July 1, 2015 through Hotwire. Got to Payless counter, agent said he could rewrite ticket through Payless and save me a lot of money. The reservation was made in my wife's name since she does the driving. I wanted to use my am exp card for the points. Agent told me car had to be in my name and she would be secondary driver but he would waive the second driver charge since I wouldn't be driving car. When I got my bill I was charged $130 for 2nddriver called the agent, he said he never said that which was a lie. I contacted Payless, they said someone would call me to discuss. I received an email after I wrote and explained the situation. It said case closed. If you read all the reviews you would have to be an idiot to rent from them. Their management team must really be weak or poor in their message to their employees about customer service. I gave I star it should be a minus one if I could. This review applies to TF Green Airport PAYLESS car rental. The SUV I rented had no plates on it, and the police stopped and searched us. To their credit, Payless brought us another vehicle where we were staying. That second vehicle had a maggot crawling up the back seat, peanuts on the floor, and smelled HORRIBLE. Payless did not return any of my phonecalls or respond to my email regarding this matter. For a week, I drove around in that vehicle that smelled like a garbage dump, literally, I gagged several times (almost threw up) and no one in my daughter's wedding (why we rented it in the first place) would ride with me. I will never rent from these people again, and I suggest if you care about customer service, you skip them. Oh, they advertise good prices, right? DON'T TRY TO PARK HERE! When I arrived to park my car I found that the lot and building were completely closed, so I parked my car at another lot. When I called parkrideflyusa to ask for a refund, I was told that the business had moved next door. When I returned to RI, I drove back to Payless and found the other building, which was also closed. The Payless phone number does not work, so I called parkrideflyusa again and got a refund. I don't know what is going on at Payless, but they certainly are not operating at full capacity. read more

I had to exchange my first car on 6/5/17 because it smelled like a mix between cigar, vomit, and skunk. No lie. The second car smelled the same but not as bad but my passengers all remarked on it. Nasty. I have never experienced this with anyone else. When you check out demand a receipt then, not later. You will not get a receipt unless you harass them. Forget trying to call because some answering machine without a proper address message says, "Leave a message....beep" I don't know who that is answering machine is for. I rented and prepaid for a car on 2/8/17. On pickup date of 5/16/17 I arrived at their desk where there was no rep. Someone from another company signed me in and I got the car and brought it back on 5/29/17 as agreed and paid for. Still nobody at Payless desk so another company agent took care of the return. Car was dirty when I got it and was no better upon return. I looked at my CC page the next day and they had charged me again for something I had already paid for in February. Last week they put a $17.30 on my CC for tolls. I went through 3 toll booths on the trip and paid for all of it out of pocket because nothing happened until I did. I called them about the double charge only to have some guy mumble something about 10 days. They haven't done anything yet but spend my money. I have disputed both charges with the CC company and hope they have some kind of hitman to have a serious talk with Payless. How can you use that name when you charge someone double? USA,USA,USA. The person renting out the car was actually not bad. Being my first time to Rhode island, he was helpful in recommending places/things to do to get the absolute rhode island experience, despite the fact that he kept pushing for an upgrade that cost twice the amount of the original rental.. Most of my complaint comes from a girl who wasn't even at the desk when we went to return the car. We waited for over 20 minutes, while the desk was empty even asking the other car rental places if they seen the service person at all that day and they assured me she was somewhere. After she wandered back to the desk we were trying to pay and before we could even break out our cards to split the cost, she already charged it. I told her that the person we spoke to said that we could decide how we wanted to be charged at the desk and she immediately went on the offensive by saying it was our fault for not requesting it first hand. She said nothing to us, started clacking away at the keyboard, didn't even ask 'how would you like to pay?' or ' I am now charging you with your credit card'. Luckily we got to the airport early enough not to miss the flight, but if we were at all crunched for time, we would have missed our flight. I'm usually not one to write bad reviews, but come on, don't bother being employed if you're this bad with simple basic protocol. read more
