I had a 7:20 flight and they opened at 6. I dropped off the car around 5:45 and there were other cars being dropped off. The drop off area is in the garage so everyone was just lining the cars up in the marked area and leaving the keys inside. I received an accurate receipt less than an hour later. The car rental garage is connected to the airport by a long enclosed skywalk and it was open. Expect a 5-10 minute walk. I had picked up at a different location and didn't know if there would be an issue with early drop off or getting to the airport afterwards. I attempted to clarify by calling and ultimately had to visit the location as they didn't answer my calls. I hope this review helps anyone else who has the same concerns. read more

We booked through 'dollar', we show up for our car and they're not even open. Just a sign that says see 'hertz' booth for service. We get to hertz and there's two guys inside, with a line wrapped around the parking lot back into the terminal. Averaging a full 15-20 minutes per customer, it took us over two hours to get our car. Even though I filled out the pre-pickup forms, verified my license and identity, and uploaded my card inorder to 'skip the line' as advertised, it made no difference. Poor service! I rented from Hertz thinking that they actually valued customer service, but they were "not exactly" to quote their own ad campaign. I had a separate drop-off in the Newark airport that was made clear on my reservation. When I picked up the car, I was told that Newark would wave the fee as this was not initially on my reservation and to tell Newark this when I arrived. When I arrived in Newark, I was told that no information had been added flagging this, that it was Providence's responsibility, and that I needed to call Providence to get the fee taken away. The Newark staff was rude and just as unhelpful as Providence. When I tweeted, I got a response, but the fee has not been lifted. I have a reservation with Hertz coming up soon in a different location and am unlikely to use that reservation or Hertz again. read more

Rented a Tesla Model 3 at T.F Green Airport (PVD) in Providence RI.  This vehicle needs to be removed from Hertz service until the "driver seat occupied" sensor is repaired/replaced.  The defective sensor disables the vehicle from properly shutting down when the driver exits the vehicle and locks it.  The headlights remain on, the climate system remains on and the main touch screen remains on along with any other vehicle controls that were enabled.  Luckily, I was visiting my son-in-law who owns numerous Teslas that he rents through Turo and he successfully diagnosed/demonstrated the sensor problem.  He showed me the workaround that was required to keep the vehicle's battery from totally discharging overnight.  By going into Safety Mode on the display and Turning Off Power every time I parked the vehicle was I able to avoid a dead battery.  Also, by his having a Tesla charger at his home I was able to keep the vehicle properly charged after discovering the faulty sensor at the conclusion of the first day of my rental peroid. This could have been a disastrous & expensive experience for a novice Tesla renter from Hertz without the benefit of a very knowledgeable family member.  Also, anytime anyone rode in the vehicle, they would complain about the cigarette and/or weed smell.  Not to mention the cigarette burn in the rear mat on the driver's side.  Apparently, not very well cleaned and deodorized by Hertz.  Not the best Hertz rental experience for me.  Not sure if this is a problem with just the Providence RI airport Hertz.  Regardless, this is a poor reflection on Hertz in general. read more

Hertz car rental in Warwick on Jefferson Blvd is by far the BEST!!! Such a memorable experience from start to finish. Emi who served us was awesome! She knew exactly what we wanted and treated us the way a customer service representative should treat their customers. We were celebrating my husbands 40th birthday and I decided to surprise him with a luxury rental car. Emi took us into the parking lot and provided us with plenty of options to chose from. I was so thankful that my hubby was able to get into the vehicle he really wanted to drive for the day. He ended up choosing the 2019 Cadillac XTS and boy am I glad he did. I flew in at midnight and I grabbed my car and found my hotel. I had made my reservation 2 days in advance and had added the skip the pump charge to my reservation which was confirmed, and emailed to me two days before. They took the prepaid gas and told me to just go get gas. I have to travel at 3 am back to the airport and do not want to try to find a gas station and feel safe at 3am. This was our first stop for a much needed week long vacation with the fiancé. Reservations were made a week before so I assumed everything would run smoothly. I was advised they only had one sub-compact vehicle left which was a Toyota Yaris. I didn't really care, but I soon found out the trunk space for this specific car was pitiful. It would not fit my fiancé's luggage nor mine. I mean we could have stuffed it in the back seat but we had lunch plans and that is asking to get the car broken into. So we went back inside the office after trying to fold the seats down to make it work and told the young lady that the car was not going to work because we needed a functional trunk. The lady simply apologized and offered us an upgrade for an additional 110+ dollars. I can't even remember the exact amount because I was pretty disappointed. I personally feel we should not be penalized due to the lack of preparation and inventory on Hertz. We canceled the reservation and walked next door to Alamo. We ended up paying $15 more dollars and they upgraded me to a compact vehicle just cause. Very disappointed with the service here. I gave it two stars because the lady was friendly but just didn't try to hard. read more

I have rented cars at this location on a number of occasions and I've been satisfied with every rental. There were two times when they were out of cars and there was a long line of waiting customers including the Gold Club frequent renters and the staff was running around getting cars ready and helping folks into the cars. The front desk staff were helping to dry of cars and doing what it took to get people down the road. Very impressive teamwork and customer service. On my last rental the system assigned me a sad white Chevy Impala with a smashed bumper and peeling paint and even though there was a shortage of cars, the agent immediately put me into another car and I was on my way. Another great Hertz Location! I have a home in Rhode Island but have been living in Louisville Kentucky. So I not only rent vehicles in Louisville but also from TF Green Airport. I have had my share of challenges when I travel and many times I am the last person walking to the rental car location at midnight or worse - 1 or 2 a.m. Hertz has never let me down - not from the local representatives to the Area Manager. I have rented multiple times from this team and I believe short of one time, I got the exact car I wanted; and that's because I rented so late in the week. John Clancy the area manager is top notch. I am lucky enough to work with some great people from this company and John is one of them. I had needed a specific type car around the holidays last year because I was driving around my 82 year old mom. She has trouble getting in and out of a vehicle. It wasn't available and folks on site really didn't know what I was referring to. I spoke to John and he was not only apologetic but he did something that I can't begin to believe - he drove the car to our home in Barrington RI and exchanged cars - at 9PM at night! People wonder why some customers remain loyal to a corporation. It's for things like this - above and beyond the call of duty. I rent cars from about 300 days a year, a long term rental as well as multiple rentals at the other locations I frequent for business. PVD airport location is great because of the people. While I wanted to give a 2 star... and almost did... The two star ballooned up to a 5 star following my "drop off" interaction with Nate from this Providence Airport location. Is there a need to talk about the negative? No, life shouldn't be always about finding the negative and when you have a Nate batting clean up he takes care of what customers really want, just someone to listen to some simple criticisms. The negatives can easily be assuaged. I'll save the negative review for the Ritz Carlton in Orlando! I am truly grateful for a company that recognizes when they have fallen short of the customers expectations, listens and responds swiftly and with kindness. Totally rip off! I rented a car last month and i realized how much fees i had to pay! They did not explained enough of anything. First of all, they claimed that their gas program is cheaper by 20ish cents compared to the regular gas stations and made me sign up for fpt ftp? Program, but did not tell me that there will be 10+% tax. Also, they did not tell me that there'll be fees for using their pass for toll, they ensured me that i'll be only charged for toll values only. I only used it for 5-6ish dollars and now i have to pay 25 dollars. I see... This is how they make money! read more

I recently rented a car at the Hertz location at TF Green Airport in Providence, RI. Unfortunately, my stay in RI had become shortened due to Hurricane Irma hitting my home City! Seeing I pre paid for the week, Hertz would not reimburse me for turning the vehicle in early despite something out of my control. I'm local and I've rented from this Hertz at least 40 times to travel into New York City. They are always professional and the cars are always cleaned and fueled. I rent cars on a regular basis for work, and this is about the best Hertz location I've rented from. A warning on TF Green Airport for all those people visiting. The rental area for all car vendors is way too far from the airport on a series of escalators from hell. Elderly and handicap, definitely ask for a ride. It takes at least 15 minutes to get from the plane to the rental center if you know your way. But it's not obvious and the signs to the rental center are tiny. It's not like most other airports where you walk outside for rental cars. It's very confusing so ask someone. If your flying in that morning for a business meeting, chances are you'll be late. And good luck finding the rental center when it's time to return the car. The "providence" airport is in Warwick, not Providence. There's also a lack of signs on the highway showing people where to go. It can be really confusing, so leave yourself some extra time. Just driving into the rental return building can be confusing because there are 3 entrances, and only one goes to the rental area. There are gas stations close to refuel on Post road between the airport and the rental car building. The confusing part is you have to enter the rental car building on the opposite side, away from the airport on Jefferson blvd. And once you finally find your way into the rental car center, then you face the escalators from hell to get back to catch your flight. RI is a great place to visit, but sorry for the lack of signage both in the airport and on the roads around the airport. The state is so small we just assume everyone knows their way around. read more

Needless to say there wasn't and we were stuck in the airport for 3 hours with no ride. If they could not accommodate us all they had to do was say so and we would have made alternative plans! What should have been an easy experience, ended up being a nightmare. I was supposed to rent an SUV for a cross-country trip for $529. When I got to the counter, they said that my credit card was declined. I checked my account and had more than sufficient funds. I called my credit card company who confirmed my available balance and they had no idea why it was not being processed, as the decline was not even showing up in their system. The man at the counter ran the card two more times and said that it was "declined". He said that he could not take a debit card or try to enter the card manually. My only option was to cancel the reservation, leaving me stranded at the airport. I went to the alamo desk and their cheapest option was over $1000. I took the car, feeling very defeated at this point, and my card went through no problem. I ended up spending over double what I originally planned on spending, only to find out that it was a problem with their system even though they were convinced that my card was not working. Don't rent from this company and you will save yourself a lot of money in the long run and a lot of stress. read more
