DON'T USE PAYLESS TOWING! They are CARELESS and CAUSED HEAVY DAMAGE to my car. On March 7, 2025, I called them for a tow. We were in a parking lot, as we pulled forward to leave, the ball joint on front driver side broke. The Payless drive came, he had full access to tow from the front or the back. He hooked it up from the back and just dragged it up the flatbed. You could see that the whole front was being damaged, even the drive got out to see, but decided to pull it up anyway. When the mechanic checked it out. he said the ball joint had broken, but the axe was also broken and the oils pan was smashed. He asked what happened to cause all the damage. I told him what had happened. The mechanic said the town guy said we had been driving down the road at full speed. THAT WAS A LIE. The mechanic said, MOST OF THE DAMAGE ($2,650) WAS CAUSED BY THE IMPROPER TOW. The manager at Payless said she would check with the owner. After a month of follow up calls, they would not even refund the $110 tow fee! I WILL NEVER USE PAYLESS TOWING AGAIN, they are CARELESS and UNPROFESSIONAL, they CAUSED MY CAR MOST OF THE DAMAGE! read more

We just bought a truck from Payless Towing. The truck is great but ... They didn't tell us there was a sticker near the gas that said "Diesel only". We talked with the guy at the lot about needing to put gas in the tank after we left the lot. All it would have taken was a mention that the stick was wrong ... but no. We put diesel in the truck after leaving the lot and didn't even get two miles away, obviously. It cost almost $1,000 to get it fixed. The place that fixed it said it was in pretty good running condition EXCEPT for the diesel, obvs. How hard would it have been to tell us about the sticker? The truck is out of the shop and running fine now but it took three weeks (we had to leave the truck and get a rental car) and $1,000 (not including the rental car costs) to fix something that never had to happen. read more

Would NEVER recommend using this company. So sorry this happened. Payless Towing was called to our hotel to pickup a guests' vehicle. The driver was careless digging up good size chucks of our newly paved driveway and left a large amount of oil, unknown if was tow truck or guests' car that was towed ( my money is on the tow truck as it was not there prior to towing ). Called Payless Towing and was RUDELY told that the manager already called and Pete, ho said he was the manager and had to wait for the owner, said he'd be out to check it....after 11 hours still waiting on him. read more

Worst tow company ever the staff are a bunch of liers had my car tow here by me not by CHP but by me my car broke down and I had no phone signal. A police officer helped me get in contact with this tow company I'm not from the area so I didn't know better I needed my vehicle stored for the weekend while I arranged delivery to my home the tow truck driver JR said they could store the car for 49 dollars n change per day I agreed to the price plus a 220 towing fee mind u the car was towed for about 25 to 30 minutes so I said ill be back for the car on Monday this had happened on a Friday afternoon here i am Monday ready to get my car back n get it home n they hit me with a 800 n something dollars bill I have pictures with the specific time the car is getting towed from the side of the road to them unloading the car at their facility it was less than 1 hour but according to them CHP called them at 430 pm n thats when they started charging their hourly rate of 220 driver passed by me once had to do a 30 minutes u turn n come back to me they still charge me 4 that even when it was the drivers fault for missing the exit according to them the driver didn't finish unloading my car in their facility until 630 thats 2 hours equals 440 plus the 200 storage fee and on top of all that they put a lien on the car because it was there for more than 3 days and I had to pay the 70 dollars lien paperwork fee this is just ridiculous I should have known better when I offer to pay the 420 in advance Friday afternoon and the driver told me not to worry about it come back on Monday and we'll take care of you Just avoid this company at all cost they will rip you off they will tell you one thing n the next hit you with an absurd bill make sure that JR the manager according to them doesn't talk you into doing you any favors he will make you regret ever trusting anyone at their facility Really wanted to curse them out but I'm better than any of those lowlife scumbags read more

I just got SCAMMED by these people for 75.00....My wife's car jacked at gunpoint and was taken and crashed/burned. When I contacted them I was told policy on weekend was to charge 75,00 and the needed the registration. They never said you cant take pictures, And as with most people the registration is in the car. They would not do anything without payment. So when we get down there after paying the fee on the phone (you have to make an appointment on the weekend) the registration was not there and no keys. we said ok and asked for the 75.00 back since we cant see the car and they said no because they gave us that information about no registration and keys. They should have had a disclaimer about that up prior to getting your money so you can make a better decision but they don't until after you get there and they already have your money and they could care less. Do not use this company!! Very unprofessional! They brought the wrong kind of truck to tow a very old car and blamed me for not requesting a specific kind of truck. How am I supposed to know this? If you don't offer a certain truck when knowing the year, make, and model, then you are not doing your job accordingly. They will also charge more because they will have to sent the driver back to pick up a different truck when it was their mistake in the first place. How convenient for them... Family member had a stolen totaled vehicle towed to this location by Kern County Sherrif. KCSO selected towing not our family member. Went in this morning to drop off release of vehicle. Gentleman with mustache at front desk was short with words and no personality. He was not intentionally rude but lacked customer service. We were not greeted as a customer. I understand with it being an impound yard they deal with multiple attitudes, rude and on Occasion an aggressive person. These POS people refused to let my daughter get all of her personal belongings out of her car. After the accident ( Friday - 10/02/20) the vehicle was immediately taken to this SH*T HOLE of a place. They would not let us access the vehicle until Monday, as they are closed on weekends. It's PAYFULL TOWING not Payless. Don't let the name fool you. To the message to LAW ENFORCEMENT, quit using them. They have limited hours. They are a major inconvenience to receive your vehicle back. You pay at their office here and then you have to go clear across town to their tow yard to get it back. The problem is, if there is someone NOT there at the yard to release your vehicle and it's around closing time, KACHING, they just made another day for a storage fee that YOU have to pay. I know they have to follow rules and regulations but it's time as tax paying citizens to have rights against being gouged by tow companies. They say we do have rights but we don't. They use your vehicle as collateral. Good luck suing them, it goes nowhere. If I could give 0 I would. After being in an accident and taken to the hospital this tow company was called via CHP to recover our vehicle and trailer. It was one thing after another with them when we tried to recover the personal items from the truck and take the trailer. After leaving with the trailer (it was towable) I went in to release the truck to progressive for pick up and they told us we had to pay on the spot since we took the trailer even though they still had the truck. Ridiculous and completely unethical treatment if people especially having just been in a wreck. Caused me to have a panic attack in front of them and my dad had to come back with the trailer and pay just do we could go home. Horrible attitude and service. DON'T use this company if at all possible. CHP should contract with a better company. read more

The staff was very friendly and i had no problem paying the fees incurred. Rules are rules... So the driver decided to pull up and jerk it down now my drive shift is damaged. I can't drive my jeep. I've called left messages for the manager and owner with no response. And when I finally caught him in the act other than camera. I asked what he was doing and to please stop coming on to my property he became very disrespectful and said he was looking for cars to repo. Horrible. My Geico app connected me to this company in response to my request for Roadside service for a flat tire. I entered in my information, received text messages from this company plus a link to my phone stating tow truck ETA & also phone number to contact dispatch. After the ETA of 8:45pm passed, I received a new notification stating new ETA of 9:35pm. That passed, so I called dispatch (using the number they provided via the text they sent). The lady on the phone said "We never received a call for a flat tire." Um, okay so why did I receive these text messages then? I tried calling a different phone number (from the link they sent). The SAME lady picked up, and was also clueless about my case. I even had a case number. Somebody is extremely incompetent. I don't understand how automated messages can be sent to my phone with a case # for this company, and yet the dispatch has zero clue about my case. Ended up cancelling, calling AAA, who came in less than 10 minutes. Don't waste your time with Geico roadside service, and don't waste your time with Payless Towing. I was notified by law enforcement that my stolen car had been recovered and towed to a Payless yard. Customer service at the main number didn't knock me out, but we greeted Big Ron at the yard on State Rd. where the car was. It was a few minutes before their open time, but he was fine getting us in early. He was so cheerful about the paperwork. Then he helped by starting the car (the battery had been taken) with some device and advising that we might very well get it home as long as it wasn't shut off. And so we did!
