It was my first time at this location. The location was rented out for a party during Hampton University homecoming . The staff was very accommodating. They were friendly. I tried the pizza, it was decent. The bull was fun. We had our own DJ, DJ Babey Drew and he was amazing like always. I did notice this place is not very accessible for those with disabilities. I was honor to be part of PBR HAMPTON WHITE LIE TEE FOAM PARTY LAST NIGHT AS influencer and was able to showcase the highlights of this country club for what is truly is unique and hidden gem For starters services is always so nice and very friendly they have a vip section where you get 50% off drinks before 9:30pm and that includes your friends as well and there a lot action always happening here where you can hop in with the staff to do some line dancing and of course everyone favorite the bull ride where they take you around and spin you around town. The space is so much wider for you to hangout outside ,upstairs, and the dance floor is wide and they have multiple bar areas to get drinks . We came out to highlight there foam party Where they offer us free t- shirts to write a white lie and showcase all night into the foam where that was real fun and the cool thing about this location they do have a giveaway occasionally and my friend won 2 concert tickets. I haven't been to PBR Hampton in quite a few years, we've moved southside so it's a haul with bridge traffic so just not on our radar. We decided we were in the mood for something different, though, and headed on over to make a night of it. We put on our boots and cowboy hats and headed on over. The club opened at 8 and we walked in at about 9:30, so not crazy early, but the club was still fairly empty. No biggie, this meant faster service at the bar and surely it being a Saturday night, things would pick up soon. "Hampton's most stunning country bar. Live country and southern rock bring the PBR party downtown to Power Plant Hampton." --- This is how PBR self-identifies. Makes sense, right? Anyone who has been to an actual PBR rodeo/show knows they play southern rock and country music. And yet we heard ONE country song the entire night. One. The rest were club music and rap. A bunch of girls in chaps leading line dances and a mechanical bull doesn't make 2020s club music country. It was so wildly different than when I'd visited years ago or any other PBR I've been in, I actually pulled out my phone to check their website to make sure we hadn't inadvertently stumbled in on a special event night but there was nothing listed under Saturdays as a different vibe and nothing listed under events for the evening. I can only conclude the club's description is completely outdated and misleading. Bar service was mixed. At the busier side bar, by the entrance, I found service to be fast and friendly. Ironically enough, at the much quieter back bar it was harder to get the bartenders attention, but he too was friendly enough. The purpose of this review isn't to slam anyone elses jam- but if you are looking for a COUNTRY bar/club, folks, this is not it- not anymore anyway. It may be that there just isn't the desire/demand here anymore (although thats hard to imagine with the big Nashville-Cool trend in recent years) and club and rap music is what the masses want. If so, though, then I think PBR should rebrand itself and update the website to reflect that shift. read more

Overall, this place is better than just alright. I must say, I have been here years ago and remembered having THE BEST time with friends... So here am at least five years later... I entered a contest to win a free birthday party... well I was one of the winners! Yay me! I was able to invite friends and all would get in FREE and the prize also included a swag bag and a gift card worth $50! I arrived the Friday of Memorial Day weekend... the time may have been 6:30 pm and the crowd was pretty much non-existing... I asked the bartender what's up and he was confident in saying that it is mad early, the crowd will pick up about 10 pm or 11 pm. I thought that's hours from now... Well good thing I had friends there with me. We sat on the patio and enjoyed the outdoor patio vibes. Before we knew it, people started rolling in slowly but surely. I guess the guy knew what he was talking about. Well I had no idea when I would return, so the $50 gift card, I made sure I used every penny. I brought food for myself and for those in my party. We had drinks, food and a table on the patio... this is the life! A water view and interstate view too :) real chill tho! The music was just OK. I thought it could have been more versatile, but nope! The food was pretty good, better than expected. I had a special request and it was fulfilled. The crowd was pretty much Caucasian, but there were other races here and there. Nevertheless, everyone seemed to be having a good time as 11:30 pm rolled around. The music was still bland, but the outdoor patio was jumping. People were inside the bar, but the patio was super packed. We really didn't have a waitstaff outside, and I am not sure if that's an option. Nevertheless, a guy did come outside to clean off the trash and finished plates at the table that was about it. The venue is huge and the parking... ample! I'd recommend you give this place a try. If you don't mind mediocre music then hey... but I really think coming with a great group of friends will make your night here more enjoyable. My husband and I arrived shortly after opening on Friday the 15th. This was our only visit. I am a wheelchair Warrior. I can walk ambulatory with help. There are zero tables for standard height chairs except for the two VIP areas. These VIP areas also require transfer from chair to a couch to reach the short table in the area. There is a smaller second floor that has a pool table and stripper pole. No elevator to this area. Dance floor was roomy. No one danced while we were there. There are strobe effects that can be seizure triggering. Now comes the bull policy. The bar keep told us it is okay for me to ride it. After sitting and drinking in the "accessible" area, my husband carries me to the line. After going around the rope for the line, the lady told us "because you needed help getting here, our policy is that you can't ride. The food options were few. The sliced Pizza was cold and looked Like part was missing. Bar had good selection, however, using the small plastic cups for straight drinks makes a mixed drink in the same cups tastes watered down. Zero stars. I felt ashamed, stereotyped and excluded. No good drinks, no good food, and nothing to do. The "Friday's military appreciation and giveaways" never happened. Zero stars. 2 words: MECHANICAL BULL. Ok, in all seriousness, this spot was very different for a NoVa/DC person like myself. From the music to decor, the ambiance was very cowboy/southern friendly. One side of the wall which divides the bar from the patio, comes up like a garage door, allowing smokers to waltz in and out conveniently. Towards the center of the first floor, people gathered around the dance floor to line dance. Cute. There was no cover but that may be because my friend knew people and had hookups. Not sure how much or if there is cover. But again, ... MECHANICAL BULL!!! It was so much fun. Most of my friends were close by to watch but one friend said I was on PBR's circuit tv around the bar and they were able to watch me from afar. I had a very enjoyable experience at Professional Bull Riders. I went to a VIP party here and did quite a bit. - I enjoyed food and drinks on the upstairs while having and awesome view of whole club. The food and drinks were pretty okay, but that's not what you come to a place like this for. - I got my everlasting life on the dancefloor to Justin Bieber, Backstreet Boys, and other pop music; fun because I was only expecting them to play country western music due to the bullriders theme. - I got to ride a mechanical bull for the first time and lasted for almost a minute; a lot longer than most people I saw before me. It was so much fun! (Message me if you want to see the video.) Lol - Enjoyed nice weather on the balcony with friends. This place is very spacious, and the balcony is perfect for taking photos. Me and my sisters came to this location at 12:45am on 12-28-19. When we walkes up to the bar to order drinks, the female bartender had a nasty attitude. My sister ordered 3 drinks and I ordered 1. The bartender placed all the drinks under 1 bill. My sister was speaking to the baretender with respect and the bartender wasn't trying to listen. In short, after the bartender got the payments for the other 3 drinks, we were all kicked out. We tried to ask for the business manager and was told they did not want to be bothered by us. Im sorry the bartender wasn't having a good night. But, when a paying customer comes in, theu should be treatee with respect and not assumed the bill was not going to get paid. We were in this bar for less than 10 minutes and no one wanted to hear our side of the story. It's as if we were treated like criminals. (I really hate to make this about race, but the baretender was very condescending. We spoke to her with respect and paid for our drinks only to be kicked out) We will NEVER come back to this establishment and we will tell all of our family and friends about this experience! There are obvious deviations from the actual published choreography.. no marked or actual dancefloor, no online database to learn, no indication as to what dance anyone is gonna do... Went to this location for a Paint Nite event - and my oh my, what a ride! So, it's basically a dance club/bar with a country western theme as far as I can tell with a bar attached next door that has more craft beers and such on tap. Since I went in what would be considered an off-peak sort of time, that influences my experience. Important points for potential visitors: 1) NO wine. None. Not a single selection. And the craft beer side wasn't open, so you had to order liquor/mixed drinks or low-end beer bottles. Since I am (and the people in my party) not 20 any more, we were a little unhappy with that. The manager kindly took us to the other side to get craft beers when we expressed our frustration (the only reason I am upping the review to 3 stars -- the craft beer selection is really quite good!). 2) Food is drunk bar food at best - so don't expect anything other than grease/carb loading. 3) There is a HUGE bull head that has eyes that light up in red like Satan. It's perhaps the creepiest thing I've ever seen. It only would have been enhanced if it sporadically shot fire out of its nostrils. 4) Actual text I sent my partner about halfway through the event, "You know how we talk all the time about how there just aren't enough places for us to ride a bull in the area? I went here for a group meeting and I will admit that although I watch PBR, I had never been to a PBR bar before. Mechanical Bull you say? Yes please! I ordered a Corona (with Grenadine and a lime. Try it!) and the Chicken Tenders. The tenders were nothing to rave about. The staff was super friendly but the bartender put my change in front of the stranger next to me. I'd call that a lack of attention on his part, but I wasn't upset as I (thankfully) noticed it. At the beginning of the night is an acoustic band and country-line dancing and towards the middle/end it really comes to life! They had a great selection of present day music and it takes on a great club feel. Ladies: The bathrooms are huge and relatively clean. Later in the night, they also have the typical selection of mints, mouthwash, body spray, etc. (You're welcome) Gentlemen: There is a bar, stripper pole, and pool tables on the second floor. All of the qualities one would look for in a downtown dance club with the convenience of being in an auto dependent suburban development with excess parking and easy interstate access. Well, not QUITE the experience I would have in say, Dupont Circle- but for Hampton Roads I was pretty impressed. I had my doubts after seeing the neighboring businesses (home improvement store and a huge Bass Pro Shop), but once I stepped inside I was pleasantly surprised by the huge dance floor and lively crowd. My friend is in town for work and asked me for my opinion on a good dance place close to Williamsburg. After consulting with some of my straight friends in the area, this sounded like our best bet. The place was already quite full when we arrived a little after 10. $5 cover on a Saturday night- not bad. The bar staff (mostly women dressed in little clothing) were nice and drinks were average. There were enough bars that I didn't have to fight to get a drink. As for the actual dancing, it was pretty good. We both would have preferred more current hits, but it seems that country music is the staple here. They also played a number of older classics. We briefly went into Luckie's next door, which did have more of the music we wanted, but was much less busy and lacked the club-like atmosphere of PBR. So after a few minutes there we walked back over here (and had no problems getting in since our hands were stamped when we paid our cover). As one would expect, this place attracts a lot of young folks from the military. Single ladies should have no problem finding a dance partner here. Since driving is the only option to get here, you obviously need to plan accordingly for a sober driver. read more

The marketing director, Danielle, is a sweetheart. She accommodated my work group for an After Work Party and she made it happen. Kudos to her for doing a great job. The variety of music they played was alright; I like when the DJ takes over and have a little bit of everything for everyone. The atmosphere is nice, loud, fun to watch other people. Very spacious, you can go outside on the deck to lounge and smoke or head up to the 2nd floor to play some pool tables or dance on their dance pole. :) One tip for this place would be to have better security; you never know who can bring a weapon in and if something turns about then there's not much a bouncer can do. When you have high feelings, liquor/booze, smokes, hot women/men etc...it's the perfect place for a storm. Thank God, the moments I have gone, nothing major but it would give me a peace of mind, if I knew they had better security. Food/Drinks are great, reasonable; I always show up for happy hour so I get my few good drinks in for 1/2 the price. :) There were a couple of people that are regulars and even though they can be a crowd pleaser, it gets old. There's a guy and gal who seems to know all of the dance moves so this is great if you are wanting to learn how to line dance; but when you try to incorporate line dancing into something like "We Found Love" by Rihanna, you are taking it too far...very cheesy lol :) There is another regular, older lady with long blonde hair; she use to teach line dancing, she goes around dancing with a partner; I think she looks great, but she tends to not like it when it gets crowded on the dance floor; she purposely (as she was dancing 2 steps with her partner) bumped into people to give herself room; the look on her face, it was one of an annoyed dancer who couldnt get her dance-on because the place gets packed; my suggestion to her is...chill out, relax and enjoy what you can, you dont have to dominate the entire dance floor to have a good time. *winks* Overall, the place is fun to hang out; great for ladies night out, after work parties and social gatherings. Good atmosphere. Variety of music. Decent crowd. The first floor has a relatively spacious dance area, a mechanical bull, and four separate bars, connected to a business named Tapp's, and a fairly large, clean patio. The second floor is well maintained and features some pool tables and even a stripper pole. $5 cover for access to PBR and Tapp's, $7 cover for access to a whole strip of venues! I used to be a dance instructor, teaching seven different dances. I always enjoy the coordination, (and appreciate the patience) of the employees allocated all night, that teach line dancing, are there to entertain, and allow everyone to be comfortable on the floor near them and have a blast. It's apparent that they have fun, too! They also maintain appropriate security personnel, and measures, to ensure everyone has a good, safe time. read more

My friend and I decided this would be a great place to bring in the new year. It was actually not a bad spot to spend the evening. There was a lot of dancing, laughs and good times. The bartenders on the PBR side are pretty snotty and extra full of themselves. I get that I am an overweight, average woman in some peoples eyes.. But you keep overlooking me to serve skinny, young girls.. I am going to get annoyed. This is where things got more annoying.... We decided to go next door to Tapps to get drinks and a shot. We ordered the same round of drinks that we did at PBR, the bartender said all prices were the same, yet our order was almost $7 more.. I asked her why and she snapped back with, oh I guess I will not charge you for 2 FULL REDBULLS... We both ordered redbull and vodka.. She used one can for both of our drinks but charged us for 2 cans.. What a scammer.. Then I went to pay for the 2 shots we had, with my credit card... Which I know has plenty of money on it.. She said casually told me it declined and I could use the ATM.. So you are going to scam me, tell me my card was declined and then try to get me to use your ATM to make money off of me.. NAH.. I have on record that this girl charged my credit card, told me it was declined and then refunded my money back to my card. Of all the children standing around the bar, I would have given her a great tip had she not been a very ugly person to us. If you plan on having a night out here.. I basically paid a $20 cover to get absolutely disrespected by all the bartenders and staff last night. I lost my phone and quickly started asking staff if anyone had turned anything in. Each person told me to move on to the next. One male bartender even rolled his eyes at me and told me to go ask someone else. I did the process for over an hour, talking to everyone. I went to the DJ stand and without even looking around, the lady told me no phone had been turned in. Another 30 minutes of doing laps goes by and I decide to go back to the DJ stand. The lady again, without looking, tells me no. Luckily I saw something light up beneath a piece of paper and I pointed it out and said I think that's mine!? She then told me to wait a few minutes. So I stood next to her for 10 minutes while she waited for the DJ and finally he gave me my phone that they seemed to be hiding or unwilling to give back. I'm glad I saw my phone otherwise I would probably never have gotten it back from them. I get losing your phone is annoying for everyone, but the staff were overall rude, nonchalant, unkind, and just not observant. read more

He then changed direction and so did the woman. He then immediately changed direction again so the tail end smacked her in the face. This was not an accident. The intent was there. The woman immediately was knocked out. No one came to help her. Her friend then ran in and began picking up her teeth. They finally came in to help the woman out. Ok for people watching. The bullriding was entertaining to watch for a bit, but it got kinda old fast. If you're female, be prepared to have them purposely shake your tits on display for the crowd. Otherwise it's a typical 'club' scene; blaring loud (mostly country) music where you have to scream to talk to the person right next to you, too hot, and bright lights flashing in your eyes every few seconds. Not really sure if I can justify the $5 cover charge. Especially when only men are paying that. This will be the only time that I complain about inequality. If im paying to get in then so should everyone regardless of gender. Walked inside and everything about this place resembles what you might expect to see at any normal country bar...except for the music. With that level of commitment to making everything look like a scene from the wild west, why bother playing music that isn't even remotely country? Okay now that I've gotten that off my chest we can get to the good things. The mechanical bull was kind of cool as was the line dancing. I also liked the vantage point from over top of the bar where your could see everything down below. The volume of the music made it impossible to hear what anyone was saying let alone even hear yourself think. I hate having to shout across the bar to say what I want. Lastly, im not sure why, but two squad cars blocked off the section of the parking lot directly in front of the entrance. I'm not sure if they had planned to breathaylze everyone upon exit but it left me feeling uneasy and unwilling to take my chances at not blowing over the legal limit. It's a huge space. There's an upstairs. Bars up there, too. But the action is on the first floor. That's where the bull is. And if you come here, that's what you've come to do. Or line dance. Such a fun environment if you are into pop and mostly country music . My friend and I came on a Saturday night and it was $5 per person. We also rode the bull which was free after you fill out the paperwork for safety purposes. There's two floors so it's tons of space and the workers stand around and dance with you which I thought was cool. We both got a tequila sunrise which was the best drink I've had in awhile. Went to PBR with a friend this past weekend. First off, there is a $5 cover to get in. We arrived at around 10pm and it was dead. It finally started to liven up around 11:30 or so. Beer/cocktail menus proved difficult to find so you better know what you want when you get to the bar. Bartenders seem inexperienced and the drinks were less than average and not cheap. The line to ride the mechanical bull doesn't move because the shirtless cowboy that controls it insists on humping the buckle bunnies on it for about 20 minutes at a time. The DJ was surprisingly good, playing a great mix of country, top 40, and even some solid throwbacks. Lots of line dancing. The buckle bunnies are, for the most part, beautiful and friendly. They and the DJ are the redeeming factor of this place. I probably won't return until I learn the line dances to every single country song. read more
