The Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) is a North American public broadcaster and non-commercial, free-to-air television network based in Crystal City, Arlington, Virginia. PBS is a publicly funded nonprofit organization and the most prominent provider of educational programs to public television stations in the United States, distributing shows such as Frontline, Nova, PBS NewsHour, Masterpiece, Sesame Street, and This Old House. I've seen a lot of documentary and music programs on PBS. Depending on the time of day I watch the mystery shows and crime shows don't have the fundraising interruptions. The station is geared to the city where viewers reside. I can see different shows on PBS out of New Jersey and also New York. I'm recommending.

At the height of their popularity, National Lampoon magazine published a showstopping (and extremely controversial) cover of a man holding a revolver to a puppy's head extorting the typical newsstand skinflint to "Buy this magazine or we'll shoot the dog" or words to that effect. As the business end of a handgun can be highly motivational, this newsstand shocker was the largest selling issue in their history. Somehow that's the way I feel when the constant PBS beg-a-thons interrupt Crosby, Stills & Nash (or other classic rock dinosaurs) mid-song to beg for donations... "We'll extinguish your elderly heroes unless you pay up... $300+ for a DVD of the concert and their ubiquitous canvas tote. It's coercive philanthropy but it must work, because they keep on doing it. I give occasionally because I like the PBS NewsHour, most of the science programming and honestly, my collection of totes never leaves the closet. Maybe, if they had CSN threaten a dog... now that would be an encore. I am absolutely sure Neil Young would be up to it. Five stars. The shop is run by a lovely couple who went above and beyond with their kindness. When I mentioned that I'd recently lost a prayer card of Jesus that meant a lot to me, they generously gave me a new one at no charge. Such thoughtful and genuine people. Highly recommend supporting this local business!

Too bad there's no ZERO star option…read more Order was supposed to be ready yesterday. Nope! Went back this morning and had THE worst experience! You know you're getting top notch customer service when the only guy in the whole place is sleeping on the couch. I said "Good morning" at increasingly louder volumes to try get his attention... no dice! A couple of times his eyes actually opened, but then he just flipped back over to another sleeping position where he could avoid me. He finally woke up looking incoherent and desperate for a cup of coffee and after I give him the order number, he starts asking me non-sensical questions like, "What word do you want translated?" Huh? "Where do you want stickers delivered?" What? I kept repeating, "I'm just here to pick up stickers." Finally he tells me, "When Lily get here you get your stickers." I said, "When's that?" His reply, "She get here when she get here." After that, he basically walked me out the front door and most likely hit the couch again to sleep it off. AVOID AVOID AVOID!

The receptionist in the studded belt and Von Dutch hat tried to help me, but was distracted by today's headlines about the discovery of penicillin and increasing numbers of AI seeking therapy. She took down my name, then informed me that according to her records I'd passed away some time ago, but if I'd like to take a crack at my own obituary I'd be more than welcome to. I told her no thank you because I'd already handed it in, but I'd get to it when I had a chance.

I was pleased that they made cancellation easy. So easy that they don't even send a confirmation that you would need to look at. I had not been checking my credit card statements and just found that they never cancelled and have been charging me for about a year after I cancelled. I called customer service and was refused a refund even for the current month that they just charged yesterday. Don't give any money to this sleazy outfit.
