I absolutely recommend PC Geeks to anyone who'd like quick, friendly and overall great service! to preface how pleased I am, I'll add context to why anyone in the Frisco area should give PC Geeks your business-- I went to Best Buy initially, (big mistake) to attempt a quick repair on my PC since I wanted to avoid the 39 minute drive to micro center and their wait list as well. I ended up standing in line at Best Buy for over an hour (I had an appointment booked for 12Pm) . . . I was never seen. One of the only 2 Geek Squad employees eventually asked all of us in this growing line-- "Who has an appointment", to which several of us spoke up. I had the earliest appointment time. everyone else was 12:20 and later. Clearly Geek Squad is miserably understaffed, I personally felt bad for the 2 employees having to handle the volume of customers that kept piling in. Shameless company. Regardless of uncontrollable circumstances, having an appointment did not matter at all. It was clear that the employees had no way of checking whose appointment was next or who even had one in the first place. (The Best Buy app is only good for placing orders, otherwise, the vital functions such as drive up pickup etc. are useless.) Both me and one other person were completely ignored when we spoke up about our 12pm and 12:20 appointment times and annoyingly, we were bypassed by a very aggressive couple who came in late, behind everyone and even asked me if I had an appointment (I told them I did indeed, so ignorance is not an excuse for their behavior or the employees). They were allowed to bully past everyone who'd been standing there for that hour, screaming they had an appointment-- we all had appointments but I guess being the loudest and most rude gets you seen first. as that hour trudged on, I noticed a growing stack of electronics that were being signed up to be worked on "Off site", with hold times that were clearly going to take several days to finish, so I assumed I wouldn't have gotten my PC fixed same-day if Id have kept waiting for my "appointment". So at about 1:10, (an hour and 10 minutes after my appointment time) I called it quits, walked out and headed to google. I found PC Geeks right down the road and headed over there Instead, I was eager to avoid a trip to Micro Center. And what a blessing it was to have found them! what would have taken Geek Squad DAYS to finish, PC Geeks handled in barely 2 hours. I dropped off my rig, let the employees on staff know what was wrong (I cleaned my PC which was long overdue and replaced the GPU. BUT, I accidentally plugged one of the PSU prongs in the wrong place on the Motherboard, so it wouldn't turn on at all, I didn't realize it so I was totally stumped on how to proceed getting her back online, my mistake!) -- PC Geeks took control of the situation and got my PC onto their work list immediately. They were professional, knowledgeable, and handled my hardware carefully! I got a call 2 hours after the drop off with the awesome news that the problem was resolved and now I'm back up and running same-day! The value in how quickly they were able to resolve my issue is priceless, they are worth every cent! My son found this place doing his own research after his computer kept inexplicably crashing mid game. Though it was over the holidays, they were able to diagnose and repair his PC fairly quickly. You can tell they know their stuff and they gave suggestions for future PC options once our son's entry level gaming PC had run it's course. His PC was optimized by removing unnecessary drives and RAM and adding a new 2TB SSD and reinstalling a new windows. Though we are hopeful that we do not have to return anytime soon, we would definitely recommend PC Geeks. read more

My wife's computer died a few days ago. It's a Mac and I'm pretty handy but I couldn't do much for it. Called PC Geeks on Wednesday and they said bring it in. Took it over there yesterday afternoon and they thought it was probably the hard drive. Shortly after I returned home they called and said it needed a new hard drive. I was tempted to just buy a new computer since this one is around 8 years old but they advised replacing the drive and I would have a great computer so since the price was reasonable I agreed. They called me this morning and said it was ready. I brought it home and turned it on and OMG it was lightening fast booting up which is something it's been terrible. I believe it's faster than when it was new. All I can say is that if you have a problem with your computer, don't hesitate take it in to PC Geeks. I've been to Apple Store and it's always a chore. Long waits etc. PC Geeks are great folks and local. Hopefully, I won't need there services any time soon but if so I know they are now my go to computer repair. read more

went in on Saturday shortly after lunch. I had a refurbished Lenovo from Amazon and Windows wouldn't start up due to some sort of error. Asked if they could help but the gentleman in the 'HULK' tee-shirt, who was dismissive and asked me NO questions was clear that they couldn't help me today because they were closing in two and a half hours (really don't think it would've taken that long) and that I'd be better off going to Best Buy for a n ew machine. Which is what I did. Don'T typically leave poor reviews, this may be my first, but this shop demonstrated a complete lack of interest in me as a customer. Told my wife on the phone this story as I was driving to Best Buy and turns out she'd had a similar poor experience here a few months prior. Cant rate their work for obvious reasons but will certainly never go back. read more

So my Lenovo ThinkPad GEN 5X one carbon was dropped and I was told by another company that likely the motherboard was toast. I looked up computer repair close to me and found these guys in Frisco. I called and they said bring it in. They charged $99 for diagnostic (with that amount going against repair). Within an hour of dropping it off they called me with great news that in fact upon disassembling and inspecting and a hard reset they determined it was the battery that "got hung up". What was going to cost me $1000 for repair or a new computer was only a total of $150! What I liked best is the honesty. They could have told me something was wrong when it wasn't. Also, they said they wanted to keep it overnight to test and make sure their assessment and solution was correct. It was. I hope to not need their services in the future, but if I do I AM COMING BACK! Amazing service! read more

In the past few weeks my computer kept crashing due to a drive failure and I tried to fix it myself and gave up. Even though I work in IT I am not much of a PC guy anymore and the last time I replaced HD or memory was during XP times. Anyway, I called PC Geeks Frisco main st and spoke to Don and he assured me he will take care of it and he did. I dropped of my Win8 computer and in less than 3 hours it was fixed. I brought my own mechanical HD so I got my old drive replaced, upgraded to Win10 all bloatware removed and ready to go. Lucky I had my data backed up, so when I got home I installed AV and all the other software, restored my data and am a happy camper. It was the best $150 I spent in a long time and I wished I had done this sooner as it's a waste of my time as these days there is very little uniformity in PC builds. Advice/my 2cents - back up you data in an external drive - create a boot disk on a thumb usb drive - create an image backup - let the experts do their thing and don't waste your time read more

I never leave bad reviews but here we go. I took in my gaming PC recently because it had an issue with windows not booting, it was giving the "load bootable media" "OS not found" error when trying to start up. It was the first error my PC ever had and didnt know what to do so I took it to PC geeks. Little did I know they charge $180 before they even touch your machine. A couple days later I get a call from Matt saying that my motherboard was bad because it's "AMD circa 2018" and that I was looking at a complete new rebuild. Matt basically said that because my PC was 5 years old already it had ran its course. (Probably true) so I bought a new SSD, installed into the PC with the windows bootable media USB, and the windows install screen popped up immediately! All I needed was a new drive! The motherboard is not broken as they were saying! I tested this with a new PC and verified it was the SSD I was using prior, had become corrupted and that's why windows wasn't booting. Honestly, this place is a scam and you should want to stay far away from it, if I could give zero stars I would. I paid them $180 for them to basically lie to my face about what was up with my machine. You can find better PC advice from any technically sound high schooler than these guys. read more

I feel scammed. They are going to charge you 50.00 usd even when you decide not to fix your computer because the estimate is too high. Basically they are not charging you 50.00 usd for the diagnostic but for providing you an estimate (is different) After that it dont matter if you want or not to pay for the estimate they set, your 50 box charged are not refundable. As an example, lets say you want to fix a cheap laptop with a small software problem. You need to give a 50 usd deposit even before you know much is going to cost you. Two days later you get a call saying is going to cost you 450 usd and you decide not to do it, they still will keep your 50 box deposit. Thats a decent way of stealing from customers. They can say the estimate is 200, 300, 400, 900 and you have to accept it or at least you will loose 50 usd....Seriously!? Next time I am going to Nebraska Furniture. They just charge you if you decide to fix your equipment or agree the estimate, diagnostics are FREE. Dont go there!! read more
