I always have very positive vendor experiences thanks to Yelp. This time, I was in search of a computer repair tech to repair a slow running laptop. I was impressed with the variety of local talent, and how easy it was to access the reviews. With that being said, while reading through some of the reviews, I came across PC Rescue Tampa. I liked the genuineness of his reviews. I decided to give them a call. Eric answered the phone. He was very polite and patient and he seemed to understand the problem that I was trying to explain. I liked him right away, but since I live in Lithia, I did not like the idea that I would travel all the way to Tampa to try and get my laptop fixed. He offered to come to me, but it could not be until later due to prior commitments. Since it was still early in the day since I needed my laptop badly, I asked if I could come over if he could take a look at it then. He said yes. I drove over, not at all prepared for the experience of meeting Eric. What a gentleman! He met me out front and cradled my laptop like it was a newborn infant. As he is talking to you, he is making mental notes and asking questions, and then in very simple down-to-earth language, he is explaining what he thinks is wrong with your system. He says "I think that I can have this back to you later today and as he is saying this to you, he is trying to work on how he is going to get it back to you. To make a long story short, he made my unit his mission until he got it fixed. I left it with him but it was ready by 9:00 am the morning. My 6 year-old laptop suffered an awkward fall that bent my disc drive and the hard drive. Eric installed a new hard drive and had my laptop working like new the next day, with the Windows 10 and Office and everything. He's very knowledgeable and friendly, and is happy to explain the various aspects of the innards of a laptop. We discussed the fact that I virtually never use the disc drive and whether I should bother trying to get a matching one that will fit into my model of laptop, and he helped me make that decision. Then he took my damaged hard drive and attempted to get the data from it using all his tricks of the trade, but alas it was mortally wounded. But the beauty part is that he didn't charge me for all the time he spent trying to coax something out of it. So I paid a very reasonable price to get a literally broken laptop fixed and didn't have to go buy a new one. I needed to have a brand new laptop fixed. I Had my laptop for about 3 weeks and it gave a error message of data configuration missing etc. A blue screen and not able to go beyond that point. I spoke with Mr. Eric and it was a Saturday morning. He advised me to bring my laptop in to take a look to see what he can do. He took a look at my laptop and right away knew it was corrupted! I had been having problems getting online at home on my Samsung all-in-one. Eric responded on Thumbtack immediately and offered me a very reasonable rate. He took extra time to resolve the issue - multiple viruses- and also updated Windows and made my pc overall more easy to use. He went well above just fixing my computer...he offered extra help by phone once I got it home. Eric (the owner) did a great job of recovering the data from our failed Seagate external hard drive. He transferred the recovered files to a new hard drive I provided, but would have provided a new drive as well for additional cost. Eric even went as far as meeting me in Brandon to return my drives (old & new).
