ProAudio Electronics in Tampa deserves every one of their high ratings -- and then some. We brought in my wife's Roland digital piano for warranty service, after she was having ongoing trouble changing voices and settings. Roland's own user manual was confusing at best, and even Roland Support wasn't able to help her resolve the issue. The tech who initially examined the piano couldn't find anything physically wrong with it (which many shops would have used as an excuse to send us on our way). But instead of brushing us off, the staff -- especially Santiago at the front desk and Mike (the owner, though you'd never know it by his down-to-earth attitude) -- went above and beyond to make sure my wife fully understood what was going on. Mike spent a lot of time personally walking her through the controls and discovered that the problem was a poorly explained instruction in Roland's manual regarding the C1 key used for voice changes. Once the correct key was identified and explained clearly, everything worked perfectly. The important thing is this: ProAudio was absolutely determined not to send Cindy home until she was completely satisfied and comfortable using her piano -- even though there was technically "nothing wrong" with it to repair. Many shops would have simply said, "We can't find a problem -- call Roland." ProAudio didn't do that. They made it their problem, and they solved it. Needed my turntable repaired because of a reoccurring grounding loop. They quoted me 60-115$ and 4 week turn around. About six weeks later after calling multiple times he called and said it was fix but that it was gonna be $180. Desperate to have my turntable back I agreed. But when I questioned why it was so expensive when picking it up, they could not explain. The problem was a loose ground screw which he tightened back down and the soldered over to make sure it stay grounded in the future. This did the trick but 180$?? I feel like I got ripped off and that the repair really should have cost somewhere between 60-100. Turntable works but don't feel good about the money spent. read more

These folks are one of a very few electronics service centers certified as a McIntosh authorized service center. Enough said about their expertise! But their customer service is outstanding! From the woman working the desk to the young man who gingerly brought my 60# power amp into the store (parking is very limited) to the technician I spoke with several times as parts were ordered and shipped, the entire experience was simply awesome. Not exactly inexpensive BUT worth every dollar if you have a prized hi-fi component. Trust nobody else to service it. Only downside? About a two week wait or longer due to a large number of pieces (they service musicians' electronics too). That's a reflection of their reputation and the quality of their work. They truly are the regional pros for this type of work! read more

If you have vintage audio gear, this place is probably the best in Central Florida. I drive here from Orlando to bring my 1970's vintage Marantz components for service. They pride themselves on ensuring your equipment is as it should be. If it's not right, they will make it right. It is getting harder to find folks with the knowledge to keep old gear sounding good in this day of "disposable electronics". Upon entering the shop, you'll see a multitude of brands and types of vintage gear. They are an authorized repair center for McIntosh, and their knowledge reflects it. Contacted the speaker exchange to upgrade my Pioneer crossovers at the speaker exchange, they wouldn't have anything to do with me , said it wasn't worth the investment and recommended I trash the speakers and buy new( Chinese Garbage) . Got ahold of Mike and Sarah at Proaudio and within a weeks time they upgraded the crossovers with no problems and didn't cost me an arm and a leg.. Very Professional , Amiable, Attention to Detail and overall just a great Team to talk and work with . If you need it fixed and the Eqpt is irreplaceable( Priceless in my book), Take it to Mike and his Team of Electronic Wizards, They'll get your System rebuilt right the first time and you won't have to "Dispose " of your eqpt, unlike today's electronic junk, which is disposable 9 times out of 10. They are listed as a certified Harmon Kardon repair service but were unable to repair my receiver citing that the replacement part was unavailable which was a lie. The part is readily available from multiple vendors. Wasted a month of my time and $60 for nothing. Beware. read more

One star is probably too much, they were courteous and that is it! I called and they told me they work on Onkio AVR units. They require a $60 fee just to diagnose a receiver, this is a little more than other places charge, but I read some good reviews so I brought the TX NR676 to them for repair. I waited three weeks and called them, they said a diagnosis didn't reveal anything wrong; but it still didn't work. I asked if they needed more time and he said yes. So another week went by and I called again, this time they found a problem but told me they don't make the part anymore. This is a two year old unit, and I had a hard time believing it. After a little research and some phone calls I took the unit over to Clearwater where there is an authorized Onkio repair shop, apparently Pro Audio is not an authorized repair shop and that is why they couldn't get the part. Pro Audio is dishonest! They now they are not an authorized dealer and yet they told me they could fix it. Now I know only authorized dealers can get parts for Onkio. read more
