Phillipe is a kind wonderful human. I am an older woman and used to getting taken advantage of on a regular basis. Even if I am not, I am usually on edge preparing for the possibility. Top that with being unemployed. And this week my car and computer both dyed at the same time and I was at my emotional limits until today. As soon as I entered Phillips's place I felt at ease. My Macbook hard drive decided to take a turn for the worst, after countless days with the dreaded "beach ball of death" - i sought refuge in Phiippe. He is usually in a rush but don't let that fool you, its only because he is a jack of all trades! from chocolate, to djing, to computer repair - its safe to say he has a knack for just about anything. With an affordable rate he really came through for me. He told me to purchase a new hard drive from best buy and he would do diagnostics and trouble shooting to figure out what was going on with my mac before he installed the new one. When i arrived at his place he immediately got started on my computer taking screws off and attaching one of his HD's into my computer for testing- the big plus is that he fixed my broken "B" key effortlessly! Not to mention upgraded my OS to snow leopard 10.6 (a $30 cost in stores) for free!!! I was quoted a price and it ended up being a tad more than expected but that is only because my HD was really messed up!! thank god he was able to save mostly everything! I came back the next day, and even though was practically thrown my stuff and shoved out, i have no qualms considering he is a busy man and my computer is fixed and working like a fine tuned machine!! My external hard drive stopped powering up. I had previously posted a negative review for Phillipe, we urgently (how did we ever LIVE without computers before?) needed our fan replaced. He ordered the part and due to a postal mixup, I felt he dropped the ball as it had not arrived over a week after ordering. yay for the Whisperer. When I bought my Dell 5 years ago I had the shame of Vista installed on it. Since then it has steadily been growing *crap* on the harddrive. New Years Resolution: wipe out harddrive and reinstall. 10 days ago this became imperative when I spilled coffee/chocolate milk on the keyboard. It was still alive, but only half the keyboard worked. I visited a few computer surgeons on Yelp, but Phillippe gave me the least anxiety about the operation: replacing the keyboard and the harddrive operating system. And, he will work on the weekends. Not the case with the other places. His fees are nominal for the work he does. He charged me very little for the new keyboard and in the interim of shipping gave me a loaner. How do I love Philippe? Let me count the ways! He's been fixing my computers for years now, for a reasonable fee and with far more personalized and friendly service than you'd get in a shop. I'm not the world's most computer-literate person and he gets that; he uses language I can understand without talking down to me. Once he knows what the problem is, he'll give you a reasonable estimate of what the repair will cost in terms of both time and money. And if there are different options for dealing with the problem, he'll tell you what all of them are. Recently my pc laptop refused to boot up, and HE GAVE ME A LOANER FOR FREE while he was repairing mine so I could continue to do my job. I don't know any other person or company that will gives you a loaner computer! And he always gets his repairs done when he says he will (unless something unforeseen happens, in which case he'll tell you immediately).
